The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Lu Shi silently forced a bitter smile, with a look of distress, leaving Madam Song momentarily unsure of what to say, and she couldn’t help but look at Song Ci.

Song Ci glanced at Lu Shi, sighing inwardly.

In the past, when Song Zhiqing secretly took in a concubine and had a child, bringing them back, it was a blow to Lu Shi. Yet, she always maintained her composure, unwilling to admit defeat or show weakness.

Now, however, that composure has collapsed, not because she has gained insight, but because she has cornered herself, unwilling to turn back.

Look at her brows and eyes, filled with light sorrow and grievance, a deep bitterness, yet she deliberately puts on a cautious expression as if afraid others would be displeased.

Lu Shi has acknowledged her submission and softened, but she has also turned herself into a resentful woman.

Song Ci took a sip of tea and said, ”No need for you to persuade her. Just properly educate the children. Go on.”

Lu Shi sensed Song Ci’s displeasure, feeling a bit helpless, she looked at her timidly, wanting to say something, but saw Song Ci leaning against the pillow, caressing the teacup, looking as if unwilling to speak more, so she curtsied and retreated.

After she left, Madam Song said, ”Mother, Third Sister-in-law, she really is...”

”Her husband has become a cripple, you expect her to be happy? That’s difficult. As for the third brother, even though you are the eldest sister-in-law, there is no need to manage this younger brother-in-law, lest it causes discord.”

Madam Song said, ”It’s not that I want to manage him, it’s just that Su’er is about to get married. The betrothal gifts are to be sent to the Duke Mansion. So many people are watching our Prime Minister’s Mansion, and Third Uncle still behaves like this, just adding to the ridicule.”

”Hmm, I will have the eldest handle it.” Song Ci rubbed her brow with some disinterest, saying, ”You go do your things. Su’er’s marriage is a big event, as he is the eldest grandson, everything naturally revolves around him.”

Madam Song’s brows relaxed, nodding with a smile.

...

When Song Zhiyuan was instructed by his mother, he once again walked to Song Zhiqing’s courtyard, glanced up, and saw the courtyard’s name had been changed to Wushe, and his eyes narrowed slightly.

Upon entering the courtyard, the servants were cleaning. Seeing him come, they quickly stood up and saluted.

Song Zhiyuan had someone announce him, then walked straight inside. Song Zhiqing was wearing an attire similar to a blue Daoist robe, lying on a beauty couch, and asked for help to sit up against it.

”Big brother is here. Forgive this younger brother for being rude, unable to salute you. Someone, serve tea to the Prime Minister.”

The tone was somewhat sharp.

Song Zhiyuan glanced at the Daoist monk statue enshrined inside, with incense and candles entwined, his mouth involuntarily twitching, he said, ”Little brother, have you decided to enter the Dao?”

Song Zhiqing mockingly ridiculed himself, ”Little brother has become a cripple, what difference does entering the Dao make? Just for that tiny bit of possibility, doing what I can, nothing more. Big brother, you wouldn’t mind, right? I just wish to turn the tide.”

”Indeed, one truly needs to find some form of sustenance in order to live.” Song Zhiyuan looked at him and said, ”So, for the sake of your devout reliance, I have contacted the Temple Master of Taiching Temple. You are welcome to go and seek the Dao at any time. Would you be willing to go?”

Song Zhiqing: ”...”

What the heck? Seek the Dao?

Who really wants to enter the Dao?

No, isn’t Big Brother finding a way to kick me out while I’m not yet fully recovered?

Song Zhiqing’s expression darkened, ”Big brother is annoyed by me, so you want to kick me out of the Song Family? Big brother, such a cruel heart!”

”What you said is incorrect. Isn’t it you who wishes to stand up and seek the Dao? I personally believe, seeking the Dao in a Daoist Temple would be more devout, after all, it’s where incense burns continuously, and the Daoist monks frequently inquire about the Dao and perform blessings.” Song Zhiyuan looked into his eyes and said calmly, ”Big brother does it out of sincere care, where is the cruelty in that?”
