The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Lu Shi was completely dazed, her mind buzzing, unable to hear what the people around her were saying. Her legs were weak, and she could only rely on two sturdy servant women to support her from either side.

Aunt Zhou was next to her, holding an umbrella, trying to shield her from the swirling wind and snow. Yet, despite her efforts, the biting north wind made her face hurt, causing her whole body to shiver.

But the chill in her body couldn’t compare to the coldness in her heart. Since hearing the news that Song Zhiqing had overturned outside the city and was trapped under the carriage unconscious, her heart had been pounding rapidly.

Aunt Zhou glanced at Lu Shi, whose face was as pale as if stained with blood, and her eyes immediately grew hot.

Even she felt a jolt of fear and anxiety. How would the Madam feel?

No matter the disappointment or heartache, the Madam still relies on the Master now. If something happens to him, what will the Madam and the children do?

Aunt Zhou made every effort to hold the umbrella properly, sheltering Lu Shi from the snow and wind, and said, ”Madam, they will report to you once they return to the mansion. You should wait inside. The snow is falling heavily and the wind is fiercely gusting. If something happens to you here, who will attend to the Master over there?”

Lu Shi seemed not to hear.

Aunt Zhou sighed.

The First Madam Song and Jiang Shi strode over, wrapped in thick cloaks. Seeing Lu Shi waiting outside, they couldn’t help but furrow their brows.

”What kind of service is this, letting the third lady wait here like this?” First Madam Song scolded. ”Get her inside quickly to wait.”

The crowd obediently moved to escort Lu Shi away, but she suddenly found some strength, shook them off, and fell onto the snow.

The crowd gasped in alarm.

”I deserve to die, I deserve to die,” the servant woman was terrified beyond measure.

First Madam Song was somewhat vexed.

Once Lu Shi was helped up, she said, ”Sister-in-law, the situation is still unclear. Please wait inside to avoid catching a cold.”

Jiang Shi also advised, ”Yes, Jie’er’s father has already personally gone out to meet them. There won’t be any issues, and the Imperial Physician is already waiting in the mansion.

Lu Shi shook her head, wanting to say something, but she choked up.

Someone came running quickly from the front through the wind and snow. Seeing the lights bright at the second door, they said, ”They’ve returned, Madam, Third Madam, Second Master has brought Third Master back, settled in the Dongnuan Pavilion in the front yard.”

Lu Shi’s heart tightened, and she staggered forward, with her attendants hastily following.

First Madam Song and Jiang Shi exchanged a glance and said, ”This is such a time during the New Year, you wonder what the fuss is all about. Can’t even pass a year peacefully.”

Jiang Shi watched Lu Shi walk away and then spoke softly, ”The incident happened outside the city, so the question is where he actually returned from. It happened on New Year’s Eve, went out then returned being carried back. It might be about discussing important matters with colleagues, but if it’s...”

First Madam Song reacted.

Looking at it this way, it’s indeed worth investigating why the third went out on New Year’s Eve.

”Regardless, misfortunes never come singly. Let’s go over and see, in case there’s anything we can help with.”

Jiang Shi nodded, sighing, ”It’s bad enough with Uncle Song, if something is wrong, Sister-in-law wouldn’t know how to cope. By the way, what about Mother?”

First Madam Song said while walking, ”It’s already deep into the night now, and it’s the time for keeping watch on New Year’s Eve. Mother and Father have already gone to bed. I didn’t let anyone disturb them. We’ll inform them after dawn; no point in worrying them too.”
