The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Where does it hurt? Everywhere it hurts!

Also, the intention of affectionate care?

Song Zhiqing felt goosebumps all over, a chilling sensation indeed.

He raised his head to look at Song Zhiyuan. The latter’s eyes showed no hint of a smile. Gradually defeated, he said bitterly, ”Big brother, don’t mock the younger sibling. Isn’t my state miserable enough? Must I lose my life to be considered more tragic?”

He was already left with nothing.

Song Zhiyuan said, ”You are unwilling to become a cripple from now on and seek medical treatment, which is fine. But letting a Daoist monk perform some ritual is just a side show, a laughingstock. You are a scholar, you should clearly understand that if this could cure all ailments, why would we need doctors in this world? Just offer incense and pray to gods, it’s merely deceiving yourself.”

Song Zhiqing squeezed his fist and pursed his lips, only after a long while did he manage a bitter smile and said, ”It was my mistake.”

Song Zhiyuan gave him a faint glance and said, ”It matters little to me whether you admit your mistakes or not. Third brother, don’t forget, you’re not only a man but also a father. You have already failed your wife, becoming unfaithful; if you fail your children, then that is being unkind. Do you want to see your kids living in fear, being timid all day?”

Song Zhiqing remained silent.

”The Song Family will not neglect Zhou’er and the others, but you are their father. The children cannot go without your guidance. Consider how things were during your time in Shanxi when you interacted with them, is it like now where they only fear and dread you without any closeness?”

Song Zhiqing stiffened.

”Again, if you want to seek medical treatment, search for renowned doctors, that is permissible. But I do not wish to see Daoist monks entering the residence, turning it into a chaotic mess, and you becoming obsessed with absurdities.” Song Zhiyuan said coldly, ”If you wish to pursue the Dao, you may travel afar at any time, even seek a utopian retreat to recuperate, that is your choice, my words end here.”

Having said this, he turned around and left.

Song Zhiqing watched him exit the door, his eyes full of unwillingness and resentment, striking his numb lower body heavily several times.

He was furious!

When Shen Shi entered and saw the scene, her gaze lowered, she walked over, pulled the fallen blanket back over his legs, and said, ”Master, it’s time for your medicine.”

Song Zhiqing grabbed her wrist and glared at her asking viciously, ”Do you also think I’ve become a cripple and have no hope in this life?”

Shen Shi looked at him, silently pulled his hand down, and said, ”It doesn’t really matter what I think; it’s about what Master thinks. There are many things one can do. If not an official, you can do other things, like teaching and educating, compiling books and creating classics, or pursuing music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.”

”You say it’s as easy as everyone else does; it’s all easy to say when it’s not your incapacitated state; naturally, one dismisses it lightly, but the limited mobility has already blocked countless possibilities.” Song Zhiqing gritted his teeth.

When even such basic needs as using the toilet require assistance, how much can be achieved if given freedom?

Shen Shi discerned the bitterness in his words, pondering if he could really blame anyone for it?

She shot a glance at Song Zhiqing, whose face was full of reluctance, and said, ”Master still needs to pull himself together, the children also still need your guidance. Didn’t you pass the official exams legitimately? It’s a good time to teach Zhou’er and the others during your recuperation.”

Song Zhiqing remained silent, his brows knitted in gloom, his thoughts unknown.

Seeing this, Shen Shi refrained from saying more, simply brought over the medicine, and aided him in drinking it.
