The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

The Princess Consort Ji had just sat down but stood back up again upon hearing the question from the Empress Dowager Wang, and with a smile, she curtsied and spoke.

”Responding to your majesty, today is New Year’s Eve, a time for the whole family to reunite. Even if it were freezing cold, or raining knives, I would still endure it, just hoping to enter the palace and reminisce with your majesty.”

This reply was not lacking in sincerity and could be said to have overturned the Empress Dowager Wang’s impression of this ’rival.’

The Empress Dowager Wang was shocked.

The Princess Consort Ji would never have been so humble and subservient toward her; had she been possessed?

”Princess Consort Ji, are you alright?” the Empress Dowager Wang glared at her and said, ”If you’re feeling unwell, shall I have the Imperial Physician come and take your pulse?”

Illness needs treatment, but speaking in such a saccharine manner is truly unnecessary!

The Princess Consort Ji: ”...”

She took a deep breath and smiled, ”Your majesty, I’m very well. I was just reminded of the days when the late Emperor was alive, feeling greatly emotional. It made me realize that I must not waste time and should cherish those around me.”

The Empress Dowager Wang shivered.

How cheesy!

The Princess Consort Ji grinned, but inside she felt a bit desolate and depressed.

It’s not that she wanted to be subservient to the Empress Dowager, but that she had no choice.

No matter how much she didn’t want to admit it, the Prince Min Mansion’s current circumstances were clear. Even though the Emperor Chu hadn’t acted against Chu Ze and the mansion, his displeasure left the Prince Min Mansion isolated. Frankly speaking, what future could possibly await a family disliked by the Emperor?

Not to mention the lack of prospects, even communication and exchanges tended to avoid them. In reality, who has been willing to genuinely maintain a good relationship with the Prince Min Mansion since the incident?

No one, even their maternal home had reduced their visits.

She had thought it through. Although the poison in Chu Ze’s body was removed, his health was so frail. His face never looked healthy and now he’s sustained by expensive herbs. Who knows how much longer he can survive?

Thinking of this caused a pang in her heart.

Should Chu Ze be gone, the Prince Min Mansion would remain, but once the father is gone, the child would still face contempt and disdain. Isn’t this like stabbing her heart?

Thus, she would rather show weakness before the Empress Dowager Wang to seek her pity, hoping she would protect the yet unborn grandchild and ensure the mansion’s future would not be too difficult.

She knew Wang Jingxian had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

If she was willing to offer protection, what harm was there in her being humble?

Her own health had become old and frail. As soon as Chu Ze was gone, she might follow. With limited time left, she might as well shamelessly secure some tangible benefits for the grandchild.

The Princess Consort Ji sighed and smiled even more flatteringly at the Empress Dowager Wang.

The Empress Dowager Wang: ”...”

This seductive woman has caught her off guard. A-Ci, I really want to peel off that false smile of hers; it’s quite an eyesore.

Song Ci noticed the humble, flattering smile of the Princess Consort Ji and could not help but shake his head in sigh.

She could be considered as someone ready to take risks, but for the sake of descendants, how many mothers are unwilling to take risks?

Song Ci sighed with a smile.

For descendants, planning far ahead.

Who would have thought it would appear in this domineering Princess Consort Ji, truly speechless.

The Empress Dowager Wang was unwilling to look at the expression of the Princess Consort Ji, so she instructed the Empress, ”The Princess Consort of Prince Min is currently pregnant, and the Princess Consort Ji’s health is not good. Often send the Imperial Physician to take their pulse. They are part of the royal family, and it’s your responsibility as the Empress and master of the harem.”

The Empress rose and curtsied, ”I will duly follow the Empress Dowager’s instruction.”
