The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

The head of the Song Family opened his mouth and announced that there was a happy event to be shared, causing everyone to react differently and look at each other with uncertainty.

Song Zhiyuan paused his action of sipping wine, his eyes gleaming momentarily.

”It’s...”

”Coincidentally, there’s also a happy event in the household to tell you. Previously, since you were at the estate, and you’d return for the New Year, we didn’t send anyone to report to you. Now that you’re back, as the grandfather, you can hear the joyous news.” Song Ci interrupted him.

The head of the Song Family was a bit displeased; he was speaking, so why was the old lady seizing the conversation?

However, a good man does not argue with a woman.

”Oh, what’s the happy news?”

Song Ci smiled and said, ”Naturally, it’s a great joy. Our family’s eldest grandson, Su’er, is about to be engaged. It’s said it’s to the youngest daughter of the Duke Dingguo Mansion, with the matchmaker being Princess Anping. Is this not a great joyous event for the Song Family? How about that, surprised and delighted?”

The head of the Song Family’s smile froze: ”...”

Surprised indeed, but the joy was hard to pinpoint.

”Eng-engaged?” The head of the Song Family gasped in shock, turning to see the cold smile in Song Ci’s eyes, a chill running down his spine.

This old lady, she’s doing it on purpose, isn’t she?

Intentionally making him lose face?

”Of course. The Princess has already visited the Duke Dingguo Mansion. Although they’re considering it, there should be a definite message in a few days.” Song Ci said, pressing her lips with a handkerchief.

The head of the Song Family looked at the eldest grandson, whose handsome face was flushed red, especially with the two cousins beside him winking ambiguously, making him all the more embarrassed.

”No, when did this happen? Why was I not informed?” The head of the Song Family was furious.

The engagement of the eldest grandson, and he hadn’t received a single piece of news about it. This was excessive, wasn’t he considered an elder at all?

Song Zhiyuan smiled and said, ”It was only after the New Year that the Princess first visited the Duke Mansion. I guess there will be definite news for the New Year.”

”This, this can’t happen!”

Everyone paused.

They all looked at the head of the Song Family.

The head of the Song Family was a bit embarrassed, but mostly panicked.

”Why can’t it happen? The Duke Dingguo Mansion’s status sufficiently matches our family’s eldest grandson’s spouse, and their family’s girl is well-educated.” Song Ci smiled and said, ”You don’t know, even the Empress Dowager and the Emperor heard about our family Su’er being engaged to the Duke’s daughter and were greatly supportive.”

The head of the Song Family’s expression changed.

This, how did it alarm the Empress Dowager and the Emperor?

Song Ci sipped her tea, snorted, thinking, just like this, it’s still not enough to shut you up?

”How did it alarm the Emperor? Has nothing changed?” The head of the Song Family looked at Song Zhiyuan.

Song Zhiyuan’s smile faded, and even Madam Song’s expression slightly changed, a number of question marks in her mind.

The head’s reaction seemed somewhat off.

”How are you planning to change it? Go to Princess Anping Mansion and tell her the engagement is off?” Song Ci dryly smiled at the head of the Song Family, ”Wow, our head must have eaten bear heart and leopard gall this winter?”

The head of the Song Family: ”...”

The old lady’s sharp tongue, never sparing anyone.

The younger generation present felt quite awkward; the situation seemed off, like the two elders were about to start a fight.

Song Zhiyuan coughed, looking at the younger ones, ”After dinner, you should all return to your quarters and do your homework.”

”Yes.”

The younger generation immediately scattered like birds and beasts.

”You should go back too.” Song Zhiyuan glanced at the second and third house, then looked at Song Ci and the others and said, ”Father, Mother, let’s go to the main hall to talk.”

Song Zhicheng’s eyes shifted, ”Yingniang, you take the girl back to the room first, I’ll escort Mother back.”
