The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Ci watched the couple exchange glances, a flash of suspicion in his eyes.

”What else is there that you’re hesitating to say?”

Song Zhiqing glared at Madam Lu, then turned carefully to speak: ”Mother, I was thinking that Yu Hang is warm and good for nurturing people. Considering Yi’er’s condition, I thought it might be best to send them back to the old home in Yu Hang to be raised.”

At this, Song Ci placed the teacup heavily on the tea table, her old face clouded with cold fury.

”What? Send the twins back to the old home in Yu Hang?” Her tone carried a hint of anger.

Song Zhiqing forced a smile: ”Yes, the old home is now well-maintained, it’s pleasant all year round, and it would be good for their recovery.”

”Is it good for them or good for you?” Song Ci said with a stern face: ”Those children are not even two years old, one of them is a bit slow, their birth mother is gone, sending them back to the old home—is it to raise them as peasant children or are you just wishing them dead?”

She had always considered Song Zhiqing a scoundrel, just a womanizer, never realizing he was so heartless, even considering sending away his own children.

No matter what Bai Shuilian had done, those children knew nothing at such a young age, not even two years old; if they were sent back to the old home, even if someone was arranged to care for them, how could they receive proper attention?

There are separate roads for those in charge and those who serve. Regardless of being the Song Family’s old home, the Prime Minister’s Mansion is thriving in the capital; even the servants, when walking outside, are treated with a respect that cannot be compared to those of lesser households. But if they went back to the old home?

Putting it nicely, it would be to care for the young masters, but in harsher terms, it’s exile.

Who would prefer exile over a life of luxury?

The human heart can harbor wicked intentions in a moment; those two are so young, with just one careless act, it wouldn’t just be a matter of being slow but handing over their lives.

Song Zhiqing can’t possibly be unaware, yet this notion still crossed his mind. How heartless.

This is downright having a wolf for a father, using someone else’s hand to kill his own blood.

”Mother, I will arrange for proper servants...”

”High mountains and the emperor far away; no matter how well you arrange it, you can’t protect against the deceitful hearts. If the servants harbor ill intent, how could the children survive?” Song Ci slammed her palm on the table in anger, saying: ”Bai is gone, your resentment has nothing to do with taking it out on the children—they carry your blood, they are innocent.”

Song Zhiqing kneeled down.

Madam Lu felt secretly pleased but had to kneel down as well, saying: ”Mother, please calm your anger.”

”Now you want me to calm my anger? You shouldn’t have brought this up earlier—Old Third is confused, Madam Lu, you should have persuaded him, otherwise, if word gets out, outsiders will say your heart is wicked as the rightful mother, unable to tolerate even the children of the concubine who lost their mother. How would Wei’er speak of marriage in the future?” Song Ci looked at her as if she were an idiot.

She thought she didn’t know she enjoyed seeing the scoundrel husband scolded but didn’t think about how the plans of husband and wife were intertwined. Bringing up such an idea makes people feel cold-hearted.

Madam Lu’s face went pale as she said: ”Mother, I never thought of it that way; I don’t wish to see the children alone and helpless. It was my husband who said the old home would be better, and publicly we’d say it’s because of conflicts with you that they were sent back.”

Song Zhiqing glared at her again; at such a moment, instead of helping to deflect, she followed up with more arrows?

You certainly are venomous.

Indeed, Song Ci laughed in fury: ”’Conflicts with me?’ Old Third, you certainly have a loud Ru Yi abacus, wanting to harm two children but needing your mother to take the blame? Why don’t you aim for the sky instead!”
