The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Being summoned by the eldest to the study for a talk, to be honest, Song Zhiyu felt quite nervous. As mentioned before, the eldest was more like a father, and now having a private conversation felt akin to being caught by surprise and put on trial. Nervously, he walked closely next to his wife.

”See, you’ve blown things up. Later when big brother scolds, just blame it on me. It’s my immaturity and ignorance that got you into this mess,” Song Zhiyu whispered. ”I’m a man, with thick skin like three feet of snow. I’m not afraid of him scolding. Actually, scolding makes one feel more spirited.”

Niu Pan’er burst into laughter, ”You’re not afraid, then why are you sticking so close to me?”

”You’re agile, if big brother hits me, you’ll protect me, and he surely wouldn’t dare strike,” Song Zhiyu calculated.

Niu Pan’er nearly laughed herself to death.

”So, you handle the scolding, and I handle the beating?”

”As the saying goes, sharing blessings and troubles together, that’s how it should be,” Song Zhiyu nodded, seriously. ”Big brother is a Prime Minister, I don’t believe he’d dare lay hands on his sister-in-law.”

”Alright, as you wish,” Niu Pan’er said with a smile in her eyes.

”Fourth Uncle, Fourth Aunt,” Song Lingjie entered the courtyard of the small study, seeing Song Zhiyu and Commandery Princess at the entrance, he hurried over to greet them.

Song Zhiyu coughed, looked him up and down, and said, ”Haven’t seen you for a while, Jie’er has grown taller and sturdier, it seems the food in the palace is quite good.”

Song Lingjie smiled, ”Eating and drinking with His Highness, how could it be bad?”

These study companions accompany the Prince to read, eat, and drink in the palace, not necessarily to foster friendship, but in case someone tampers with the food, they can catch it immediately.

Niu Pan’er asked, ”Have you kept up with martial arts practice? Fourth Aunt will be staying at the Prime Minister’s Mansion for a few days, perhaps we can spar at the Martial Arts Hall during our free time?”

Song Lingjie’s scalp tingled, and he grinned awkwardly, ”There’s, there’s no need for that, is there? Fourth Aunt seldom takes a break, how could I trouble you?”

Spare me, please.

”Just a bit of sparring, nothing much,”

”Exactly, with your Fourth Aunt’s skills, with your weak chicken-like physique, can you even beat her?” Song Zhiyu sneered, ”I heard you’re going back for the Scholar’s exam next year. If your martial skills aren’t practiced well, how can you take the test? You’d be the laughingstock of the exam hall if you faint.”

Song Lingjie: ”...”

As if you could beat her too.

”Fourth Uncle is right, even though you’re not taking the martial examination, practicing to build a strong body will do no harm, at least you’ll be tougher than others,” Niu Pan’er advised.

Song Zhiyu: ”No need to discuss further, I’ll have someone send word to your second uncle and second aunt, he can come, or he must come. That’s decided.”

Song Lingjie: ”...”

I didn’t say a word, and you two settled it like this?

”What are you whispering outside for, not coming in yet?” Song Zhiyuan called from inside the study.

They quickly straightened up and tidied themselves, then entered the room.

Song Lingjie watched the two in front of him, puzzled, why did his Fourth Uncle and Fourth Aunt look like they were heading to their doom?

”Big brother,” Song Zhiyu, with a full smile, greeted Song Zhiyuan, and Niu Pan’er followed suit.

Song Zhiyuan pointed to the chair nearby, ”Sit down and talk, Jie’er sit too.”

Song Zhiyu glanced at Song Lingjie, like, Big brother is going to reprimand the couple, why have a nephew overhear?

”Big brother, weren’t you calling us to talk, Jie’er he...?”

Song Zhiyuan looked at him, ”Jie’er should listen too.”

Song Zhiyu’s face turned green.

Wow, not even a shred of face is left for them?
