The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Ling left without seeing Guan Shuyan appear again in front of him. He felt a slight sense of regret but still strode away.

Madam Guan, with a smile on her face, looked at the hint of a garment protruding from the doorway and said with a smile, ”Everyone has left, and you’re still hiding?”

Only then did Guan Shuyan come out, her cheeks still blushing, tapping the ground with her toes, remaining silent.

”Oh, our mischievous girl knows how to be shy?” Madam Guan teased deliberately.

Guan Shuyan exclaimed, threw herself into her mother’s arms, and pouted, ”Mother, you just like to make fun of me.”

Madam Guan lovingly embraced her, saying, ”You, child, always greet everyone with a smile, yet I’ve never seen you blush in front of any young man. I thought you hadn’t matured yet. So, have you awakened now?”

She tapped her daughter’s forehead.

Guan Shuyan became even more bashful, nuzzling her mother’s neck, pretending, ”I don’t understand what you’re talking about?”

”Oh? So you’re not fond of Young Master Song? It’s true, our little darling is a bright pearl among many, plenty of fine young men to match. If you don’t fancy him, your father and I can find a few more talents for you, how about that?”

Hmm, find others?

Wouldn’t that mean starting over, and none are as familiar as Brother Song?

Guan Shuyan bit her lip, carefully looking at Madam Guan, and said, ”Mother, both you and father are so burdened with daily affairs, there’s no need for you to worry about such things, right? If you think Brother Song is okay, then I’m fine with it as well. After all, marriage is subject to parental decision.”

Madam Guan smiled, but deliberately said, ”I think perhaps we should search around; only by comparison can we see who is better.”

Guan Shuyan grew anxious, stomped her foot, and said, ”Mother, I am not a princess, how can you choose a husband like this? If word gets out, they will say our family is flaunting.”

Seeing this, Madam Guan laughed heartily, pinching her little nose, saying, ”Now you’re anxious, no longer shy?”

”You’re just deliberately teasing me.”

Madam Guan gently smiled, ”Then just honestly tell your mother, have you taken a liking? If I were to arrange this Young Master Song for you, would you be willing?”

Guan Shuyan lowered her head, her voice as quiet as a mosquito: ”A daughter’s marriage is subject to her parents’ command; I leave it to you and father to decide.”

She is indeed willing.

Madam Guan smiled and pulled her into her arms, tidying the hair by her ear, saying, ”Have you thought it through? If it’s decided, you will be the rightful wife going forward, even the matriarch of the Song family later, and it won’t be as easy as being a secondary wife. The responsibilities are substantial, including extending the family line for the Song Family, which is quite demanding.”

Guan Shuyan steadied her expression, saying, ”Mother, marrying whoever is still marrying, as long as the husband is considerate and in-laws enlightened and tolerant, then the rest doesn’t matter. Didn’t you say that the Song family has harmonious and honest conduct, and there is a saying about no concubines unless the husband is forty without offspring, which is quite good?”

”Alright then, truly a girl grows up and can’t be kept home. Raised this little sweetheart for years and now she wishes to marry.” Madam Guan feigned sadness.

Guan Shuyan said, ”It’s not that I want to marry quickly, but that’s an inevitable thing. If so, why not settle it sooner? Being in the capital means I can visit you more often.”

Madam Guan nodded with a smile, which was indeed her main reason for preferring the Song family. Her two elder daughters were married far away and hard to meet, and she wasn’t willing to have her beloved youngest daughter marry far from home too.

At this moment, the servant who had accompanied Song Ling returned, laughing as she reported Song Ling’s behavior along the way to Madam Guan.

Madam Guan was very pleased: ”It’s evident that the Song family has good upbringing.”
