The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Nanny served Song Ci a cup of Lotus Seed Longan Tea and asked, ”Are you still angry?”

”It’s not that I want to be angry, but look at what he’s done. Even having such a thought is a sin, how could he even think of it? Let’s not talk about what the Bai family did; she’s already dead, and those two children are not even two years old yet. Lingyi is even more foolish. If they’re sent away, it would be like waiting for death, wouldn’t it?”

Nanny said, ”You are kind-hearted, but in this capital, there are indeed children like this who are sent away. Some children are not welcomed, or their Birthdate conflicts, so they’re sent to temples or their old homes for foster care.”

Song Ci gave a bitter smile and said, ”I know, but when it happens around you, it feels quite pitiful. Don’t say that someone is taking care of them—is that the same as being with their parents?”

It is naturally not the same.

Nanny remained silent, letting her vent.

”Children don’t understand, but the servants do. Is it not common for servants to bully their masters? Bullying is mild; killing them is the real sin,” Song Ci said. ”Anyway, I can’t bear to see my family suffer such hardships, it’s against the way of heaven.”

”That’s why I say you are kind-hearted,” Nanny replied.

Song Ci sighed, waving her hand, ”They are all unfortunate, but it’s a blessing that they don’t understand anything right now. It’s only when they become sensible that such changes will be more pitiful.”

Nanny lowered her eyes and said, ”Although you don’t like to hear it, there is a distinction between nobility and inferiority, and it manifests even in such matters.”

Song Ci took a sip of tea and said, ”But that’s all man-made. I knew he was selfish, but I didn’t expect him to be so ruthless. This shows his cold nature to the core. Bai Shuilian probably can’t rest in peace.”

”Rest in peace? That’s her own degradation, she brought it upon herself, not worth pity,” Nanny said disdainfully.

”Yes. Only those two children suffer.”

When Song Zhiyu came in holding his son, he muttered, ”What kind of demon is Third Brother doing, moving the kids during the festive season? Aren’t you afraid the two children won’t get used to it and cry day and night? I heard they’ve lost their birth mother?”

”Moving?”

Song Ci and Nanny exchanged a glance.

Song Zhiyu placed Niu Honghong to sit by Song Ci’s leg and said, ”Yes, on my way from Fufeng Pavilion passing by Leisure Garden, I saw a big commotion. I asked and found out Third Brother instructed them to move the little ones to the courtyard in the South Garden.”

The South Garden is close to the back street, remote, and noisy. A child suddenly moving there surely won’t be accustomed. If they grow up in such a place, the people and things they see will surely be different from those in the deep inner courtyard.

Song Ci was at a loss for words.

”Honestly, not just any father could do such a thing. Only a scumbag father would,” Song Ci spat.

Song Zhiyu detected the disapproving tone in his mother’s voice and leaned in gossipily, asking, ”Mother, what did Third Brother do to make you look like you want to beat him to death?”

Song Ci shot him a glance, thinking of making him a negative example, she briefly explained Song Zhiqing’s malicious thoughts and said eerily, ”You mustn’t learn this, it’s shortening one’s life and good fortune.”

Song Zhiyu’s eyes widened, ”Wasn’t it said that Third Brother valued that Bai family and the two children highly? He even caused a scene before. Why does he change faces the moment the person is gone? When did he learn Sichuan culture, and so thoroughly?”

Song Ci was amused by him and laughed, ”Who knows? So heartless, just don’t learn from him.”

Song Zhiyu curled his lip, ”I surely won’t learn from him. How could I possibly have illegitimate children?”

As a prominent husband, he only demands legitimate children, preferring none over lesser quality.

Still, with Third Brother being so cold-hearted, surely the eldest will have to hammer him.
