The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Zhiyu felt a bit stifled, hugged his son, and headed to the east room with Dan Ge’er to play.

Song Ci’s eyelids twitched, and she scolded, ”Already a father, yet still like a child, aren’t you ashamed?” Then she looked at Niu Pan’er, saying, ”Don’t mind him, this boy is spoiled, loses his temper at the slightest thing.”

Niu Pan’er sat closer and said, ”Please don’t speak of him like that; it’s all my fault, only thinking of my father, that I said those words.”

Song Ci patted her hand, saying, ”As a child, upon receiving news of your father’s illness, how could you sit still? Your thoughts are entirely natural, and Silang...”

She paused and said, ”Silang is also worried that once you leave, your little family will be separated, not knowing when you’ll reunite. You should understand this in your heart, Honghong is still young, and even if you wish to take him with you, that person may not agree.”

With Prince Dingbei holding tens of thousands of military powers, previously only having Niu Pan’er, the Emperor could turn a blind eye, but with Niu Honghong’s birth, now a Princely Heir, equivalent to future succession for Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, the Emperor wouldn’t easily let him go to the Northeast.

This can’t be blamed on the Emperor’s petty thinking; in fact, which Military General hasn’t left a hostage in the capital, especially those holding significant military power?

Niu Pan’er revealed a bitter smile, saying, ”I understand in my heart as a wife. Actually, you don’t need to say much, I definitely won’t blame him or lose my temper with him. Marrying me is difficult for him, I’m not a virtuous wife, not even a good mother.”

After the child was born, she had to be in the military camp, mostly Song Zhiyu took care of the son, so the son’s attachment to her was far less than to his father.

Yet despite this, when teaching the child to speak, Song Zhiyu first taught him to call her ”mother.”

Song Zhiyu did this much, what else could she complain about? It was her who wronged him, what kind of wife is as unruly as her?

”You are talking nonsense, no need to shield him; it was you who spoiled him, making him unaware of the height of the sky. With your noble status, having you as a wife is his good fortune, his ancestral grave emitting smoke. Otherwise, with him being a little playboy, good-for-nothing, what use is he?”

Niu Pan’er pursed her lips with a smile, ”Ancestral grave emitting smoke is our Niu Family, I am the one with good fortune, to have such a husband and a mother-in-law as open-minded as you.”

How many mothers-in-law are willing to let their son marry into another family, willing to see their daughter-in-law act as a man, not all just happy to see her supporting the family and raising children?

Only Song Ci was open-minded, treating her like a daughter, and even when Song Zhiyu lost his temper earlier, still protected her indiscriminately.

How fortunate is she, Niu Pan’er.

Song Ci grinned, ”That’s right, I am not average, I’m in the second class.”

Niu Pan’er: ”???”

Song Ci burst into laughter.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law cheerfully exchanged a few private words, and with Song Zhiyuan arriving to pay respects, Song Ci reported the good deeds of Song Zhiyu.

In fact, she wasn’t exactly complaining about the youngest, but rather conveying some information to the eldest son, watching his reaction, and also guiding the two younger ones, to prevent information imbalance and potential future troubles.

Song Zhiyuan also knew that Prince Dingbei was affected by a poisoned arrow causing old ailments to reoccur, and that the Emperor had dispatched two Imperial Physicians immediately starting towards the Northeast for treatment, along with a supervising military officer escorting military supplies.

Approaching the New Year, not a moment before, the Emperor sent out a supervising officer, under the guise of visiting Prince Dingbei and transporting supplies, it was actually a patrol.

Song Zhiyuan called the two younger ones to the study to speak.
