The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 600: Chapter 600 Song Ci: Lady Has Made Me Suffer Greatly

Song Ci never knew that the Empress Dowager’s close friend could be such a childish person.

You say you’ve verbally won against a concubine, fine, but there’s no need to be in such a hurry to summon her to the palace to share the joy, right?

Oh, Lady, you are the Empress Dowager! No need to play childish games!

”Ah Ci, what are you daydreaming about? Did you hear me?”

Song Ci quickly replied, ”Lady, I’m listening. But, did you summon me to the palace just to tell me this?”

Empress Dowager Wang said coquettishly, ”Well, you’re idle at home anyway. Come to the palace to chat with me, isn’t it a bit of fun for us both?”

Song Ci thought, fun indeed, you’re quite down to earth, truly a phoenix fallen to the mortal realm.

”Besides, didn’t you want to see this Dowager’s true face? She’s residing in the palace right now.”

Song Ci was stunned and widened her eyes, ”When did I ever say that?”

”You did mention it!” Empress Dowager Wang blinked innocently.

Song Ci: ”...”

Lady, you’ve set me up. If I meet this person, wouldn’t I have to bow and scrape before her?

As if afraid Song Ci would leave the palace without getting into trouble, a palace maid reported that the Dowager requested an audience.

Song Ci’s eyelids twitched, wondering if he should say something on his mind.

Princess Consort Ji entered from outside, raising an eyebrow when she saw Song Ci.

”I have seen the Empress Dowager.” Princess Consort Ji bowed to Empress Dowager Wang, then looked at Song Ci without restraint.

It was long rumored that when Empress Dowager Wang fell into hardship among the populace, she made a sisterly bond with a peasant, someone she was very close to. Could it be this person, the mother of the current Prime Minister Song?

Receiving Princess Consort Ji’s gaze, Song Ci glanced at Empress Dowager Wang with grievance, you’ve set me up terribly!

She smiled faintly and stepped forward to greet Princess Consort Ji, ”This humble woman greets the Dowager. Dowager, may you be blessed.”

Empress Dowager Wang’s smile froze. Oh no, she forgot this part, trapping her old friend.

Yes, so what if Song Ci holds an Imperial Decree of the first rank? She still has to perform the proper rituals before someone like Princess Consort Ji, or even the current Empress.

Empress Dowager Wang pulled the corners of her mouth somewhat guiltily towards Song Ci.

”No need for formalities.” Princess Consort Ji raised her hand slightly.

Song Ci straightened up.

”Ah Ci, you’re not in good health. Sit and let’s talk.” Empress Dowager Wang immediately supported her old friend.

Princess Consort Ji’s eyes flashed. The Empress Dowager values this old woman highly, huh? Hmph, whatever Wang Jingxian values, she dislikes, including this old woman.

”Is this Prime Minister Song’s mother, Madam Song, the sister you befriended when the Lady was among the people? I heard you come from a farming background. What luck, to save the Lady and gain immense wealth.” Casually taking someone in, and they turn out to be the future Empress Dowager? What luck indeed!

What kind of person is Song Ci? In his past life as an actor, he had to learn to read people and situations. Hearing these words, he sensed the hostility.

Sure enough, an enemy’s friend is an enemy.

Princess Consort Ji was treating her, a close friend of the Empress Dowager, as an enemy.

Song Ci smiled and said, ”The Dowager is too modest. No matter how lucky I am, I can’t compare to you, Lady. I only raised an outstanding son and gained status by his success, shining today. But you, my lady, truly rose to prominence in a single stroke. I heard the late Emperor encountered you while on a disguised inspection in the fields, creating a legendary tale.”

Saying something about farming background—aren’t we just laughing at each other’s shortcomings, both being farmers who climbed the social ladder? Let’s not act like you’re better than me!

Empress Dowager Wang’s eyes sparkled, here it comes, the ’Ci clash’ is here.

Princess Consort Ji felt a bit pleased hearing about the field encounter, recalling her sweet past with the late Emperor.

But after feeling pleased, something seemed a bit off, somehow?
