The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 551: Chapter 551: What Purpose for Returning to the Capital

Song Ci returned to Chunhui Hall with a batch of rewards, sighing over those silks and various imperial delicacies.

When Song Zhiyuan entered the main room, he heard this sigh.

”Mother, do you have any troubling matters on your mind that make you sigh?”

Song Ci, leaning on her chin, looked up at him with a somewhat listless expression and said, ”You’re here.”

”Mother truly has something on her mind?”

”Not really. I just thought that if this heap of things could be exchanged for a commendation document, that would be nice.” Song Ci pointed at the pile of rewards and said.

Song Zhiyuan: ”???”

What’s that so-called commendation document?

Suddenly, he recalled the day with the greenhouse vegetables when his mother handed the Emperor a paper to stamp...

Song Zhiyuan was somewhat puzzled and glanced at Song Ci: ”Mother, what do you need those things for?”

”Mind your own business!” Song Ci rolled her eyes and said, ”Did you return from the palace?”

Song Zhiyuan nodded and said, ”This time, I had to trouble Mother to enter the palace and comfort the Empress Dowager. Otherwise, it’s hard to say how long Her Majesty would spar with the Emperor.”

”The Empress Dowager was simply blinded by anger for a moment. She’ll be fine once she calms down.” Song Ci curiously asked: ”But what are Princess Consort Ji and her son planning by returning to the capital?”

”That I don’t know. Perhaps they’re sincerely wanting to pay respects to the late Emperor?”

Song Ci smiled wryly, ”Heh.”

When foxes are ancient, there’s no need to play ghost stories.

Song Zhiyuan laughed, ”Paying respects is one thing, but I’ve heard that Prince Min intends to choose a Noble Lady as his Official Wife in the capital. No matter their reason for returning, Mother, you should just be your Old Lord and enjoy your old age.”

Song Ci thought to herself, you don’t know your old mother is the protagonist, always some matters waiting for her, good or bad, it just depends on her level of misfortune.

Given her relationship with Empress Dowager Wang, she’s bound to be at odds with that Princess Consort Ji. Afraid that when they meet, it will be like a clash of titans.

Far away in Xuzhou, Princess Consort Ji sneezed twice.

It must have been that old hag, Empress Dowager Wang, speaking ill of her behind her back. Hmph, so what, she’s still returning to the capital, isn’t she?

These years, she has been cooped up in Xuzhou, never stepping out. In fact, she longs to return to the capital more than anyone, and she wants to return in glory to live up to her title as the late Emperor’s favored consort.

”Make all the preparations for this palace. The grand dress and crown must be thoroughly checked. This is the palace’s return to the capital; there must not be the slightest sign of neglect.” Princess Consort Ji instructed the servants around her.

”Yes.”

”The Prince has arrived.”

Princess Consort Ji’s face lit up with joy. She looked towards the door as a tall man, about twenty-five or twenty-six years old, walked in.

”Ze’er, you’ve come to see Consort Mother?” Princess Consort Ji walked over, reaching out, wanting to hold his hand.

This was her son, the youngest son of the late Emperor, appointed as a Prince by birth, Prince Min, Chu Ze.

Seeing the hand, Chu Ze instinctively avoided it, making Princess Consort Ji’s smile freeze slightly, though she pretended nothing had happened and withdrew her hand.

She had almost forgotten her son’s old habit. After coming to Xuzhou, he didn’t enjoy her touch much.

Chu Ze smiled and respectfully greeted Princess Consort Ji: ”Son greets Consort Mother.”

”No need for formalities, quickly sit and have tea.” Princess Consort Ji, her face round like a platter, smiled and pointed to an Arhat bed beside her, then instructed a maid to serve tea.

”Ze’er, we two have finally waited for this day. Rest assured, once we return to the capital, Consort Mother will surely find a noble Noble Lady as your Official Wife. This time, you cannot refuse again, after all, you’re already twenty-five and still have no legitimate son.”

Indeed, Prince Min has yet to have a grand marriage, with only a few concubines by his side who have borne him a son and a daughter. This return to the capital also involves selecting a wife.

Her son deserves to match with a noble Noble Lady from the capital.
