The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 562: Chapter 562 Not a Simple Master

If being called ”lady” is a humiliation, then entering the mansion through the side gate is an even greater disgrace. Clearly, the carriage stopped at the east corner gate, but Mama Zhou insisted on leading them through that entrance, knowing it’s the gate for servants and maids.

Bai Shuilian lightly pursed her lips, ignoring the curious gazes of the servants, as her chest slightly heaved.

Even in Datong, she stayed in the main courtyard; when had she ever suffered such humiliation?

Her face remained expressionless, even the attendants beside her only furrowed their brows, enduring in silence. It was Shuanglu who looked full of resentment yet dared not to voice her anger.

Mama Zhou kept watching Bai Shuilian’s expression, and seeing no change on her face, her brows twitched a few times.

This one can endure, it seems the Madam indeed has met a rival. Hopefully, Madam can also endure.

Leading them to a small courtyard at the back of the side wing, Mama Zhou said, ”Please have a rest for now, madam.”

Bai Shuilian bowed to Mama Zhou, saying, ”May I ask, Mama, when might I have the opportunity to pay my respects to the Madam?”

As she spoke, she took the wallet from Jing Shui’s hands, intending to hand it to Mama Zhou.

Mama Zhou dodged it, smiling, ”The Third Master has just returned home, and is spending time reuniting with the Eldest Madam. The Madam, of course, will accompany him. Madame, you have had a long journey; perhaps you should rest first?”

Bai Shuilian replied, ”Thank you for your trouble, Mama Zhou.”

Mama Zhou gave a small bow and then left.

No sooner had she left than Shuanglu burst out, saying, ”Madam, that old hag is making a fuss over nothing, always putting on airs. Look at this courtyard, so secluded and close to the side wing, you can even hear the sounds from the back street. How are the young miss and young master supposed to rest? This is just too bullying!”

Bai Shuilian scolded, furrowing her brows, ”You need to change your temperament; this is not Datong, it’s the Prime Minister’s Mansion. Mama Zhou keeps speaking of etiquette and order, but she hasn’t overstepped her bounds, so why are you angry? Shuanglu, remember, the Prime Minister’s Mansion is not a place where we have a say, not even the third branch. If you keep your temper and cause a scene, I’m afraid I won’t be able to protect you.”

Shuanglu’s face changed, her mouth opening: ”I just feel wronged for you, Madam.”

Bai Shuilian glanced at the rather simple room, saying, ”This is as I expected. If it’s truly her behind this, it might actually be easier to deal with than I imagined.”

Shuanglu pouted reluctantly.

Quan Mama walked in from outside, speaking with authority, ”Madam is right, this is not like Datong, Shuanglu, you need to control your temper. I’ve inquired a bit earlier, and although the Eldest Madam does not manage affairs here, the Prime Minister shows her great respect. The Madam manages household affairs with strict discipline. If you act recklessly, don’t drag the Madam into it.”

Upon hearing this, Shuanglu’s face went pale, looking at Bai Shuilian in fright.

Bai Shuilian gently scolded, ”Mama, don’t frighten her, she’s still young.”

Quan Mama glanced at Shuanglu, ”I’m not trying to scare her; I’m just afraid she’ll cause a big disaster and harm others and herself.”

Shuanglu’s eyes filled with tears, ”I, I’ll change, isn’t that enough?”

Quan Mama said, ”Then go tidy up a bit; the little master and young miss must also be tired.”

Shuanglu curtsied and left.

Quan Mama looked at Bai Shuilian and said, ”Madam, you’re kind at heart, but don’t spoil that girl too much. After all, the ones over us, one after another, are not to be trifled with. I’m afraid she’ll cause you trouble.”

”I know. Mama, you can guide her steadily,” Bai Shuilian said meaningfully. ”I understand well that no one in this mansion is simple or easy to deal with. So, am I not simple myself?”
