Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

44: Chapter 44 The Smell of BloodBut Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian wouldn’t indulge Wang Dongmei; they looked directly at the resident of 801.

Seeing this, the person from 801 led Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian away, leaving Kong Ziyi and the others upstairs to distribute supplies.

Seeing this, Wang Dongmei immediately tried to rush forward to stop the person from 801, Huo Sixian, and Ye Qingqing.

But she was restrained by Lu Huan. Just like before, when Qian Jinpang saw his grandmother being bullied, he immediately acted as if he were possessed by a demon.

He rushed forward, looking like he was about to bite Lu Huan’s hand.

But Lu Huan and Kong Ziyi weren’t the ordinary people of this building; they wouldn’t tolerate Qian Jinpang’s insolence.

Moreover, these were people who had eaten ’sheep’. Lu Huan was currently filled with extreme disgust for Wang Dongmei and Qian Jinpang, and he wouldn’t care at all that they were an old woman and a child.

Meanwhile, as Ye Qingqing was being led to the 25th floor by the resident of 801, she faintly caught the scent of blood.

Perhaps because there were too many zombies in the hallway earlier, she hadn’t noticed such a heavy scent of blood on the 25th floor for a moment.

Now that they were here, it truly revolted Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian.

Huo Sixian knocked on the door, but unsurprisingly, no one opened it.

”Step back a little.”

After Huo Sixian said this to Ye Qingqing and the person from 801, Ye Qingqing immediately took a large step back.

Although she didn’t know what Huo Sixian was going to do, Ye Qingqing simply trusted him.

The person from 801 also followed Ye Qingqing and took a large step back.

Huo Sixian took a deep breath, then swung his long leg and kicked the security door hard.

To Ye Qingqing’s wide-eyed surprise, the security door was kicked wide open.

After the security door was kicked open, it didn’t fall over immediately, which Ye Qingqing found strange.

However, her heart instantly understood when she saw the trash piled up behind the door.

Looking at the environment, Ye Qingqing just wanted to take a gas mask out of her space and put it on, but considering the two people around her, she decided against it.

”What a sin!” The resident of 801 was already feeling guilty, and now that the door was open, the blood scent that hit them was even stronger.

It directly assaulted the three of them, making the resident of 801 feel even more nauseous and guilty.

”That little girl... she couldn’t... she couldn’t really...”

As she spoke, tears were on the verge of falling again.

Ye Qingqing was speechless and patted the resident’s back. ”Don’t be sad. It’s not your fault. Everyone has to pay for their own choices.”

”What’s your name?”

The person from 801, her eyes filled with sorrow, whispered, ”Gao Yaqing.”

Ye Qingqing nodded. ”Mhm, Ye Qingqing.”

”Let’s go in.” After Ye Qingqing finished speaking to Gao Yaqing, she followed Huo Sixian inside.

After stepping into the room, the scent of blood grew even stronger; it was even mixed with the smell of grime from people who hadn’t bathed in a long time.

The pungent odor directly brought physiological tears to the eyes of the three of them.

”Uuuh...” Suddenly, a very low sound came from the bedroom.

Huo Sixian’s expression immediately became serious, and he quickened his pace toward the sound.

The moment he pushed open the bedroom door, Gao Yaqing screamed in terror.

Because lying on the bed in that bedroom was none other than Zhao Haitang!

However, all of Zhao Haitang’s limbs were now nothing but white bone, and her face was extremely pale. Due to the dampness in the air, a faint stench even emanated from her bones.

Beside the bed, there was also a large bucket specifically placed to catch the blood Zhao Haitang left behind...

”Ah!” Gao Yaqing screamed, clutching her head. Ye Qingqing’s expression darkened, and goosebumps rose on her back as she covered Gao Yaqing’s eyes.

”Kill... kill me...” Zhao Haitang still had a breath left in her, but the moment she spoke, her words were blurred and indistinct.

If one looked closely, they could see a few remaining scraps of raw meat in Zhao Haitang’s mouth.

But since there was no food now, where would there be anything for Zhao Haitang to eat?

As for where that meat came from, the answer was naturally self-evident.

”Ugh...” Gao Yaqing couldn’t take it and leaned against the wall to vomit.

Huo Sixian didn’t feel good either, but he was surprised to see that although Ye Qingqing’s face looked pale, her reaction was very calm.

Looking at the familiar scene before her, the pain of being killed and eaten for meat in her previous life seemed to surface before her eyes again.

Ye Qingqing’s palms tightened, then she drew her blade and walked directly toward Zhao Haitang.

When Zhao Haitang saw Ye Qingqing walking toward her with a knife, tears of excitement even welled up in her eyes.

”Th... thank you.”

Ye Qingqing’s eyes darkened. The moment her blade fell, Zhao Haitang breathed her last. However, when she died, her eyes were closed and the corners of her mouth were curled up.

After giving Zhao Haitang a quick end, Ye Qingqing felt her legs go weak. Just as she was about to fall, she felt a strong force beside her.

Seeing that Ye Qingqing was about to fall to the floor, Huo Sixian quickly grabbed her clothes, then put one arm around her shoulder to support her.

”If you don’t mind the stains on the floor, you can sit down.”

Hearing Huo Sixian’s words, Ye Qingqing suddenly felt that leaning on him was quite nice.

Huo Sixian felt a hint of admiration for Ye Qingqing. Ordinary people would have reacted like Gao Yaqing upon seeing Zhao Haitang’s body.

But Ye Qingqing didn’t; instead, she gave Zhao Haitang a quick death. This forced Huo Sixian to look at Ye Qingqing in a new light.

Gao Yaqing, however, felt terrible. After all, having seen this scene, she even believed that everything happening to Zhao Haitang was her fault.

”If... if I had let Wang Dongmei into my room back then, would I... would I... also be like Zhao Haitang now...”

Hearing Gao Yaqing’s words, Huo Sixian non-committally replied, ”It’s not your fault. The world has gone mad. This is the result of an overflowing ’Saint Mother’ heart. You’ve done well enough; there’s no need for guilt.”

Just as the three of them were preparing to leave for the 32nd floor, they suddenly heard a faint tapping sound from the room next door.

Huo Sixian’s ears twitched. ”There’s someone else!”

Ye Qingqing moved her legs slightly.

”Can you still walk?” Huo Sixian asked Ye Qingqing with a hint of concern in his voice.

Actually, Ye Qingqing really wanted to say that her legs were still a bit weak. After all, seeing this scene reminded her of her own death in her previous life. It wasn’t exactly fear, but more of a suffocating feeling of empathy.

But hearing Huo Sixian’s words, Ye Qingqing felt her legs couldn’t be weak. Based on her estimation of Huo Sixian’s character, if she said her legs were weak, he would definitely carry her on his shoulder.

Ye Qingqing cannot allow that to happen, so she chose to be strong.

”Let’s go take a look.”
