Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

43: Chapter 43 Dirty ThingsIf rationed carefully, holding out for over half a month, even a full month, wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Ye Qingqing, along with Huo Siyan and a few others, was distributing food to the residents within the building. However, when passing by Wang Dongmei, Ye Qingqing suddenly caught a whiff of a very familiar odor.

It was... the distinct sour smell unique to the Sheep-Eating Clan.

Ye Qingqing was not only familiar with this smell, but she also particularly despised it.

Originally, Ye Qingqing didn’t know Wang Dongmei, hadn’t even seen her before. But now, Wang Dongmei stood out prominently among the crowd, holding the hand of her chubby grandson, Qian Jinpang.

Seeing this, Kong Ziyi’s expression darkened, and he immediately asked:

”Auntie, looks like you’ve been hoarding quite a bit of food at home, haven’t you? Everyone else is skin and bones from hunger, but your grandson here still looks quite plump and prosperous.”

”He’s a fortunate one indeed.”

Wang Dongmei was no fool either. Hearing Kong Ziyi’s words, her eyes darted around a bit, and she quickly caught on.

Her expression instantly turned grave: ”Young man, you must be mistaken! My dear grandson was even chubbier before, he’s lost some weight now! I’ve been so worried about it!”

Ye Qingqing glanced at Qian Jinpang beside Wang Dongmei. Because he had a lot of flesh on him, and with the inability to bathe in this weather, the smell emanating from Qian Jinpang was much stronger than Wang Dongmei’s.

He reeked of a greasy odor mixed with the distinctive sour smell of the Sheep-Eating Clan.

Huo Siyan and the others smelled it too. Years ago, when they were abroad, they had encountered Sheep-Eating Clan. The smell on those people was identical to these two.

The person from unit 801 couldn’t take it anymore and spoke up directly.

”Don’t listen to this damned old hag’s nonsense!”

When the woman from 801 said this, her voice even carried a sob.

”It’s all my fault! Wasn’t I the one who posted that video of this person in the building group chat earlier!”

”I said the girl from 803 brought it on herself!”

”I regret it now!”

”Not only did this old hag forcibly occupy the home of that girl from 803, she also seized all her food supplies for herself!”

”Even... even beat her!”

Ye Qingqing originally hadn’t seen these people before, but upon hearing the keyword ’803’, she immediately remembered.

So, these two were the grandmother and grandson who had forcibly taken over the apartment in 803.

If that’s the case, then what about the girl from 803...

Just as Ye Qingqing’s question surfaced in her mind, the person from 801 continued.

”When the floodwaters rose earlier, this old hag originally didn’t want to take the girl from 803 with her.”

”I felt so guilty! I took Zhao Haitang to look for an empty apartment higher up!”

”When I carried Zhao Haitang, that girl barely had any flesh on her! She was so thin, just skin and bones!”

”After I found a place for Zhao Haitang, who would have thought this Wang Dongmei would squeeze her way in too, claiming she paid rent and that the newly found place had a share for her as well!”

As she spoke, the person from 801 glared at Wang Dongmei with a look of hatred.

By now, what was left for Ye Qingqing and Huo Siyan to not understand?

”But now... I haven’t seen that girl from 803 at all. She probably met a foul end! Starved to death!”

”I feel so guilty!”

When the person from 801 said this, her voice was full of regret. After all, it was partly because of her that Zhao Haitang from 0803 suffered such a fate.

Although many people had died in the building during this time, the last vestiges of human kindness still existed.

After hearing all this from 801, Wang Dongmei couldn’t hold back any longer.

She raised her voice and began loudly proclaiming her innocence.

”You young lady, how dare you slander people like this!”

”That Zhao Haitang got sick on her own! I lived in her place, not only paid rent but also brought food!”

”Young girls these days don’t even have any stockpiled food! All the food and drink were mine!”

”How can you speak such lies and slander!”

Wang Dongmei’s voice was extremely loud and piercingly shrill, grating on everyone’s ears.

Especially as Wang Dongmei’s voice rose in pitch, the sour smell seeping from her stomach became even more intense.

The people around, smelling it, felt nauseous and wanted to vomit, all stepping further away from Wang Dongmei and Qian Jinpang.

But then Huo Siyan spoke up.

”Where is the original resident of 803 now?”

Hearing Huo Siyan’s question, Wang Dongmei’s face immediately became flustered.

”Well...”

But her very ’capable’ chubby grandson spoke up. Qian Jinpang placed his hands on his hips, the greasy layer on his body seemingly about to drip oil.

”That dead bitch is nothing but a skeleton now!”

When Wang Dongmei heard Qian Jinpang speak, she panicked, scrambling to cover his mouth.

But it was too late. Due to Qian Jinpang’s size, before Wang Dongmei could even get close, Qian Jinpang shoved her away.

In fact, Qian Jinpang continued arrogantly.

”That bitch didn’t have much meat on her anyway! Not even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth! What’s there to hide!”

”And you! Damned old hag! I want meat! Go get me some now!”

No matter how foolish the surrounding people were, hearing Qian Jinpang’s words now, what was left for them to not understand?

When they looked at Wang Dongmei and Qian Jinpang again, it was as if they were looking at something filthy!

They were so frightened they all stepped back again!

The ’meat’ Qian Jinpang spoke of was definitely not ordinary meat...

But... human...

By now, Ye Qingqing was utterly furious. She hated all Sheep-Eating Clan. It was only the early stages of the apocalypse, yet these Sheep-Eating Clan were already this brazen. Who knew how things would develop later.

Ye Qingqing was shaking with anger, a chill even creeping into her heart.

Wang Dongmei desperately tried to explain: ”What skeleton are you talking about! It was an old cat corpse I found, dead for a long time. We were starving, so in the end, we skinned it and ate it.”

”What else could I do! I’m just an old woman with a grandson to care for, helpless and alone. Now I’m being criticized just for eating some cat meat!”

”You young people! Do you even have any empathy!”

Hearing this, the person from 801 was utterly shocked, her pupils dilating.

She pointed a trembling finger at Wang Dongmei’s nose: ”You! You! You!”

But the person from 801 stammered ’you’ for a long time without saying anything useful. Like everyone else, they now knew what Wang Dongmei had been eating these past few days.

And they also knew why Qian Jinpang was still so plump.

Huo Siyan wouldn’t listen to Wang Dongmei’s excuses. He directly looked at the person from 801: ”Do you know where Zhao Haitang was staying last? Take me to see.”

Hearing this, the person from 801’s eyes lit up: ”Yes! Yes! I know! I originally wanted to go check on Zhao Haitang! But this Wang Dongmei kept blocking me, wouldn’t let me!”

Of course, Wang Dongmei panicked upon hearing this. How could she let these people find Zhao Haitang!

She immediately sat on the ground, starting to throw a tantrum, rolling around: ”Aiyo, you just won’t believe me!”
