Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

19: Chapter 19: I Want to Eat ChocolateShe noticed that the Building Chat Group had started another heated discussion.

Zhuge Liang Quietly (303): [The water level has risen again. It’s only been one day, and the first floor is already half-submerged.]

Bubble Postman (103): [Image.jpg]

Bubble Postman (103): [Help! My house is completely uninhabitable. I packed up and moved out overnight and am now in the hallway. Does anyone have a spare room? Can anyone take my family in?]

Bubble Postman (103): [My family will pay rent!]

After the resident from 103 said this, no one in the Building Chat Group spoke. At the critical moment, someone tagged the Building Leader, and only then did people gradually start to respond.

Bubble Postman (103): [@Building Leader (0902) Building Leader, help!]

At this moment, the Building Leader looked at the tag in the group chat and felt a throbbing pain between his brows. He originally wanted to pretend he hadn’t seen it, but he was afraid of ruining his reputation, so he had no choice but to start speaking in the group chat.

Building Leader (902): [0103, don’t worry. I’ve already contacted the property management and maintenance personnel, but no one is working right now. Even if they were, the Typhoon is so severe that the maintenance staff wouldn’t be able to make it here.]

Building Leader (902): [How about this? Ask around in our building to see if anyone has a spare room you can move into for now.]

Building Leader (902): [Natural disasters are heartless, but people have hearts (Rose) (Rose) (Rose)]

Ye Qingqing looked at these conversations on the screen and just wanted to laugh. These people were still too naive. Letting people from the first floor move in at a time like this—not to mention anything else—just the food consumption alone would be a major problem.

October Zhiye (181): [My house has a spare room, but do you have food? My family doesn’t have much stored. If you can bring your food up with you, I’ll charge you a bit less rent!]

Bubble Postman (103): [Oh! Yes, yes! I still have two bags of rice. I salvaged them last night!]

Bubble Postman (103): [I’m coming up now!]

October Zhiye (181): [Okay.]

There were three households on the first floor in total, and all of them had found a place to go by now. It was only the second day of the Post-Apocalyptic World, and humanity had not yet completely vanished. But as time went on, someone in this Building Chat Group would sooner or later regret having taken these people in.

On the third day, people began to notice something was wrong because the water level was rising far too quickly. After one night, the water level had risen again, completely submerging the first floor.

The first-floor residents wailed in the group chat, saying that their perfectly good homes were now soaked in water.

Seeing this, the second-floor residents also began to panic and started asking in the group chat if there were any spare rooms.

When people see this situation for the first time, they might still feel compassion in their hearts. But by the second time, if alarm bells don’t ring in their minds, then they are simply being foolish.

However, there were still ’Holy Mothers’ in the Building Chat Group.

Ye Qingqing saw the second-floor residents agreeing on rent in the group chat, saying they would move up if the water level continued to rise.

However, this move by the second floor made the third-floor residents feel uneasy as well. The water level rise was indeed abnormal—it was too fast, rising two meters in a single night.

Perhaps within the span of today, the second floor would be submerged.

As it turned out, the water level followed expectations. That evening, the second-floor residents were already moving up. However, by this time, the rent had become much higher.

Because many people had become wary, they were nowhere near as easy to talk to as when the first-floor residents moved up.

But among them, there were still some money-grubbers who offered to take people in for a high price. Among the second-floor residents was an old woman whose reputation was usually not very good.

Because this old woman was always scolding people and had a grandson with her, those who were observant were unwilling to open their doors for her.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Wang Dongmei led her grandson, Qian Jinpang, knocking on doors one by one. The other residents of the second floor had already moved up by paying a bit more money.

Only this Wang Dongmei had not moved yet. At this moment, her things were piled up in the third-floor hallway. However, this Wang Dongmei had moved everything out, even bringing her furniture along.

It filled the entire hallway. Fortunately, people were staying at home and couldn’t go out; otherwise, someone would surely have given Wang Dongmei a piece of their mind.

Wang Dongmei knocked on several doors in a row, but no one opened. Her face grew fierce, and she even became a bit anxious.

She muttered curses under her breath, impartially wishing ill upon everyone who wouldn’t open the door for her.

”A bunch of heartless wretches! How am I, an old woman in my seventies or eighties with a grandson, supposed to survive!”

”People nowadays have no manners!”

”Bullying an old woman like me who doesn’t know how to chat on a phone. They won’t take my rent and even want to charge me a high price!”

”It used to be at most 80 yuan a month, and now they want 2000 yuan from me! I don’t even know if I’ll be able to stay for a month!”

”No conscience at all!”

While cursing, Wang Dongmei pulled her fat grandson upward, but the fat grandson had an objection.

Wang Dongmei wasn’t exactly fat, and because of hard labor, her face looked much older than her actual age. Her body was withered, as if only a layer of skin remained.

But her fat grandson had flesh sagging all over his face, to the point where his eyes were almost invisible.

Moreover, as he walked, he was holding a game console and playing on it.

He even spoke to Wang Dongmei bossily: ”You dead old woman, I’m hungry. I want to eat chocolate.”

The snacks at home were almost gone. Wang Dongmei had originally planned to buy more the next day, but she hadn’t expected the Typhoon to arrive. It had been two days, and Qian Jinpang hadn’t had any chocolate to eat.

Furthermore, while climbing the stairs with Wang Dongmei, Qian Jinpang couldn’t take it after just a few steps.

”You dead old woman! I told you to go buy me chocolate earlier, but you didn’t. Now look! We can’t even go out, and the house is flooded! Just wait until my dad comes back and beats you to death!”

After being scolded by her fat grandson, Qian Jinpang, Wang Dongmei didn’t get angry. Instead, she showed an excited expression.

”Well scolded! So domineering at such a young age—you’ll be something else when you grow up!”

”My Golden Grandson, don’t be anxious. Once Grandma finds a place to stay, I’ll find you chocolate to eat. You can eat as much as you want then.”

”Seeing how my Golden Grandson has been starved these past two days, your face has even shrunk a bit.”

After saying this, Wang Dongmei stroked Qian Jinpang’s cheek with great affection and had him sit directly in the stairwell.

”Be good, my Golden Grandson. If you’re tired from walking, just rest here. Grandma will go find a place to stay. See if I don’t curse these heartless people to death!”

However, Wang Dongmei’s reputation was indeed poor. She climbed all the way to the 7th floor, but no one was willing to open the door for her.
