Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

18: Chapter 18 Exhausted and Drenched in SweatYe Qingqing looked at the pictures in the Building Chat Group, her brows furrowed tightly.

In her previous life, was there a flood?

Ye Qingqing remembered that there indeed was one, but not at this time. A flood rising now was too abnormal; the normal course of events shouldn’t be like this. This unexpected change couldn’t help but cause a wave of worry to surface in her heart; the changes in this life were simply too significant.

Bubble Postman (103): [If this water keeps rising, won’t my home be flooded? No one from property management is working either. What should I do?]

Purple Rose (152): [That really is a problem. Why don’t you ask if there are any empty rooms upstairs to prepare as a backup?]

Purple Rose (152): [How about asking the Building Leader?]

Bubble Postman (103): @Building Leader (0902)

Building Leader (902): I can’t get in touch with property management right now. There are empty rooms upstairs, but I don’t have the keys.

Building Leader (902): Tell you what, I’ll come over in a bit to check for you.

Bubble Postman (103): Okay, I’ll wait for you along with the two households next door.

Ye Qingqing frowned as she watched the messages in the Building Chat Group, when she suddenly heard a bubbling sound coming from the kitchen. Only then did she realize her soup was still stewing!

She dashed off to the kitchen to get back to cooking.

Good grief, as soon as Ye Qingqing stepped into the kitchen, she found that several pots of soup had boiled over because the temperature was too high and the lids hadn’t been removed. The kitchen was an absolute mess.

As expected, you really can’t leave things unattended while cooking.

After turning off all the burners, Ye Qingqing took out large buckets from her space and began filling them up.

Once they were full, she also took out some disposable small bowls, capped them one by one to pack them up, and then sent them into her space.

By the time Ye Qingqing finished cleaning up this batch of steamed fish and soup, she was drenched in sweat from exhaustion.

The weather clearly wasn’t hot, but cooking was a physical labor after all, and Ye Qingqing felt that the air was becoming increasingly sticky and humid.

Her clothes were damp and clung to her body, making her feel extremely uncomfortable all over.

After finishing the cleanup, Ye Qingqing cleaned the kitchen once more. The floor was covered in soup residue and felt greasy to step on. She still had to cook some major dishes later; after all, she couldn’t go out during this Typhoon weather, and she needed to save time. Currently, besides cooking, there was no other way to kill time.

The next morning, when Ye Qingqing woke up from her sleep, Ah Huang was whining and whimpering incessantly.

Ye Qingqing sighed, ”Ah Huang, look at how big the Typhoon is outside, and it’s raining too. You can’t go out to play.”

Although Ah Huang was a dog, he understood perfectly well, but he couldn’t resist his canine nature, so he could only bother Ye Qingqing.

Ye Qingqing patted Ah Huang’s head when a sudden flash of inspiration hit her. She took Ah Huang to the bedroom next door, and then, under Ah Huang’s astonished gaze, she pulled a treadmill out of her space.

She tossed Ah Huang directly onto it.

Ah Huang didn’t react for a moment when he saw the treadmill, but as Ye Qingqing started the machine, he was stunned. As the speed got faster and faster, Ah Huang had a momentary breakdown.

He began to question his life as a dog.

Ah Huang’s Internal Monologue: No, wait, why is this thing making me run? Why is it getting faster and faster?

But in Ye Qingqing’s eyes, seeing Ah Huang was a different story. Seeing Ah Huang running faster and faster, she thought he felt the treadmill wasn’t fast enough, so she dialed up the speed directly.

Shock flickered in Ah Huang’s eyes, but his feet couldn’t stop. With a low growl, he began to sprint.

Seeing this, Ye Qingqing clapped her hands and left the room. After finishing her morning routine, eating a bun, and drinking a bowl of the soup she stewed yesterday, she began a new round of her grand cooking plan.

Today, Ye Qingqing planned to cook dishes with strong flavors. When she woke up today, she felt the room was clammy. She originally wanted to turn on the Air Conditioner to dehumidify, but then she realized there was no Air Conditioner in this house yet.

Because she had just moved in, none had been installed in the rooms. Ye Qingqing felt a bit helpless; it was definitely too late to install an Air Conditioner now, so she could only take out dehumidifiers from her space.

She placed one in each room and two in the living room.

It was precisely because the weather was so damp that Ye Qingqing wanted to make some heavy-flavored dishes to dispel the internal dampness.

Spicy Chicken, Braised Eel, Sichuan-style Crucian Carp with Elsholtzia, Sliced Pork in Sour Soup...

She even braised a huge pot of spicy snacks: chicken wishbones, duck necks, chicken wings, tripe... Ye Qingqing arranged everything perfectly.

Ye Qingqing also boiled several large pots of hotpot base. Once cooked, she put them directly into her space. Later, when she was hungry, she could just take one out, put it on the induction cooker, and start boiling immediately.

She had to admit she admired herself a bit; for the sake of being lazy, she could think of anything. Ye Qingqing suddenly understood why many convenient things before the Post-Apocalyptic World were invented by lazy people.

It was all for the sake of convenience.

Speaking of convenience, Ye Qingqing also thought of ice cubes and hot water.

She immediately took an ice maker out of her space—actually, she took out several in a row—but then another problem arose: there weren’t enough sockets.

Ye Qingqing didn’t dare to use power strips, fearing the wattage would be too high and trip the breaker. If there were a problem with the electrical circuit during this Typhoon, it would be a major issue.

So the thought of going next door occurred to Ye Qingqing again, but as soon as the idea popped up, she immediately nipped it in the bud.

She didn’t want to go out. She felt that if she did, she would run into Huo Sixian again. Ye Qingqing felt it was better to have as little contact with that man as possible. Although he was handsome, it was already the Post-Apocalyptic World; who cared about looks?

So Ye Qingqing could only manage within her own rooms, which was actually sufficient.

Ye Qingqing set all the ice makers to work so that she would have ready-made ice cubes to use later.

At the same time, Ye Qingqing also took out many bathtubs, put them in the bathroom, and filled them with hot water. This way, when she wanted to bathe in the future, she wouldn’t have to waste time in her space; she could just use the bathtubs outside.

The water would be cut off later. Although there was a flood, that water couldn’t be used directly because no one knew what was in it.

Trash, vomit, and excrement were the basics. For people living in the building, if they couldn’t take the trash down, where else could they throw it besides out the window?

Furthermore, after the water was cut off, toilets couldn’t be flushed, so many people’s waste would be thrown directly into the water. But those weren’t even the most disgusting things.

Even more disgusting were the corpses thrown directly into the water, some of which would bloat into ’giant view’ cadavers. Therefore, Ye Qingqing would absolutely never touch that water.

Ye Qingqing had stockpiled water in her space, and there was running water within the space itself, so she didn’t plan to stockpile more water for now.

During her noon break, Ye Qingqing opened her phone to check the latest messages in the Building Chat Group.
