I AM the Football Star

This is the power of High-Order Data.

Brother Lu is just insane.

Two wings flying together looks fantastic, and all the famous two-wing systems in football are really strong.

This way of playing both produces superstars and gets results, and it’s great to watch.

But once you analyze it with High-Order Data, you find that this so‑called ”two wings flying together”... ninety percent of the time they’re either left‑dominant or right‑dominant!

In other words, what looks like a balanced pair of wings actually has a primary and a secondary side.

The battle over the attacking core in Bayern’s Robben–Ribery era is tied to this.

This point became even more obvious later with Salah and Mane at Liverpool.

Whether you look at goals, or even assists, or performance in key moments and highlight games, Mane kept pace with Salah, making people feel Liverpool really did have two wings flying in tandem.

But most fans and the Liverpool dressing room always valued Salah more, and the tactical resources were tilted his way too.

Why is that?

Because Salah was the attacking core of that team’s tactics.

He was the strong side.

And Mane was the tactical weak side.

Weak side doesn’t necessarily mean weaker, but in the normal tactical hierarchy the weak side will never be above the strong side.

If Salah can make it happen, Salah gets the ball.

If Salah can’t make it happen, then Mane gets the ball.

If Salah is being specifically targeted by the opposition and can’t get going, that means the opposition is committing more defensive resources to him, so that’s when Mane is more likely to shine.

Overall, the initiative is in Salah’s hands.

Maybe Mane also has the kind of core ability Salah has—it’s not that he can’t—but at least at Liverpool, their Head Coach didn’t give Mane that kind of tactical status.

The reason to bring this up is that this Paris Saint‑Germain side facing San Remo looks like it has two wings flying, and Boe often has highlight performances in the league, but in reality... their true core is the right Winger, Angel’s Wings Miguel!

Paris Saint‑Germain’s Head Coach got one thing wrong.

It’s not that if Boe plays well, Miguel will get more chances.

It’s that Miguel himself is threatening enough, and that’s why Boe gets the chance to play well.

You can’t mess up who’s primary and who’s secondary.

When Miguel is the strong side, then the attacking efficiency of this team is dictated by Miguel, and Miguel’s efficiency is extremely high.

When Boe is made the strong side, the pattern on the pitch might look similar, but the team’s attacking efficiency now becomes dependent on Boe.

And Boe’s attacking efficiency is far lower than Miguel’s.

This is the fundamental reason a lot of Head Coaches and teams get lost in the two‑wings‑flying tactic.

This is not a problem you solve just because you have two equally brilliant superstar Wingers.

Can your left and right fullbacks, your left and right center backs, your left and right central midfielders all reach this kind of balance?

That’s impossible!

Even if you could, the way the Central Forward, central midfielders, and the holding midfielder naturally drag left or right is still a problem.

Left and right have to be differentiated into primary and secondary.

Even if your left and right players have identical abilities, and all your central players are truly two‑footed, you still can’t push both flanks up at the same time, because one side inevitably has to sacrifice for defensive coverage.

This kind of sacrifice puts a very high demand on the players’ football IQ and the Head Coach’s work on movement and tactical design.

So many teams simply fix one side as strong side or weak side to lower the demands on the players. Otherwise every player would have so much to memorize that, maybe not as much as an American football playbook, but at least as much as a team’s tactical core.

Not everyone earning a million is willing to do six‑million‑level work.

Even later on, the team that truly came closest to the limit of left‑right balance was basically Manchester City under Gua Gualong.

From this angle, Gua Gualong really is the ceiling of tactics‑first Coaches.

The future in front of him isn’t ”the stars and the sea”, it’s a playbook as thick as an American football team’s!

Bang!

In the twenty‑third minute, Boe went to the byline and crossed from the wing.

Stiepelman got ready to jump, but Naji suddenly closed in on him, the distance almost zero.

Especially with Naji’s head there—if Stiepelman wanted to really put full power into his header, there was a high chance that his follow‑through would crash into Naji’s head.

So Stiepelman couldn’t complete his full heading motion.

And the ball was glanced off‑target because of that, missing the goal.

Naji had just produced a successful piece of defending.

Stiepelman glanced at Naji. Was that unintentional?

Or... was he targeting him on purpose?

On the other side, Boe spread his hands, as if to say: how do you head that wide off such a good cross? I don’t get it!

After all, this was the best ball Boe had delivered in these twenty minutes.
