I AM the Football Star

”Do you know why every big shot hopes to find a suitable successor? Because if the successor isn’t from their lineage, it will be disastrous for them. Whether it’s their fault or not, it will become their fault.”

”During your own term, handling this issue well is the wisest thing to do.”

”Rather than letting someone else sell Serie A, why not sell it yourself! That way, maybe you can leave some foundation for Serie A, for it to rise again in the future.”

At this moment, many people around started to speak up.

They all generally agreed with this point.

In fact, it’s estimated that someone had already mentioned this to Martivini.

”You must first withdraw to deliver a heavy blow,” Maniero said, ”Standing at a higher vantage point allows you to truly take control, helping Serie A quickly navigate through the slump.”

”Without UEFA’s help, Serie A might struggle for decades. In the end... it might even be worse than Bundesliga and Ligue 1!”

The path is clear.

Sell Serie A at a good price, then use that capital to vie for the UEFA presidency.

To gain something, you must let go of something.

Previously, Martivini wanted to have it all, but now he must make a choice.

He may end up being engraved on the pillar of shame in Italian football history by some, but others in the Italian Football community might see him as a true great warrior.

He would go from unanimously positive reviews to being a highly controversial historical figure.

The risk is substantial.

History is full of such figures.

Those who did well preserved the ember, remained safe throughout their lives, and their descendants were not implicated.

But if not careful, they truly became traitors, notorious forever!

”I heard that Italy is about to introduce new tax policies,” Lu Yang said, ”Unless something unexpected happens, I will transfer at the end of this season, either to the Premier League or La Liga.”

Lu Yang looked at Martivini.

Martivini’s pupils contracted.

”Thank you!” Martivini bit his lip, nodding continuously.

Brother Lu has been very supportive.

For Martivini, Lu Yang has been fully supportive.

This statement is equivalent to Lu Yang entrusting his future to Martivini.

This will be a signpost for Martivini to sell Serie A.

”No worries, it’s all the same to me.” Lu Yang waved his hand, then left with Maniero.

The subsequent matters, Martivini still needs to discuss all sorts of strategic maneuvers with his confidants, not something Lu Yang or Maniero needs to get involved in.

They belong to the generals, charging and winning battles.

The other matters, Martivini will arrange.

Each person performing their role can capture the greatest benefit.

”I’ll give you a ride.” At the door, Maniero offered.

”How can I refuse that!” Lu Yang did not refuse.

In the car, Maniero asked, ”Transfers are not small matters. Some players make one wrong choice and may fade out of the historical stage. You...”

Lu Yang replied, ”Am I just some player you mentioned?”

Maniero was speechless, ”True, your style fits into any team. In technical teams, you provide a hardness guarantee.”

”In physical teams, your little techniques are really... quite sly.”

”In traditional teams, your execution is strong enough, and your vision allows you to swim like a fish, becoming the team’s moment of brilliance.”

”In flexible teams, you can patch up flaws, becoming the most trusted brick of the head coach.”

”But... club status and legacy, these things you can’t ignore. If you happen to join a team that already has a master or where the fans disapprove of your style, aren’t you worried?”

Lu Yang clicked his tongue, ”Club status is earned through playing. If the team I join recognizes me, then I’ll consider myself one of them and give my all.”

”If the team I join does not recognize me, then... I will only have to give even more in the games, to win them over with achievements!”

”Either they adore me, or they are forced to adore me, they have a lot of choices.”

Pfft!

Maniero laughed.

What a choice to have.

You really nailed it.

But indeed, the clubs that can afford Lu Yang currently are quite limited.

At least it should be a super powerhouse, a fallen giant, or a top giant.

Altogether in the Premier League and La Liga, there won’t be more than fifteen clubs like that.

And some are currently in great form, unlikely to engage in significant recruitments.

So if the range is set in the Premier League and La Liga, Lu Yang’s potential buyers are quite clear.

To Lu Yang, those clubs likely make little difference.

Whichever provides better terms may win him over.

Lu Yang putting his transfer decision in Martivini’s hands as leverage seems like losing the initiative, but actually... doesn’t it also push the league official negotiating with Martivini to urge the big clubs to fight for Lu Yang?

Even some absurd conditions of Lu Yang might force some clubs to gritting their teeth and agree under such pressure.

Otherwise... if Lu Yang were to be transferred to another league, Martivini could have something to say.

The opportunity was given to you, but you weren’t up to the task!

From this perspective, Lu Yang not only does not lose, but rather has a chance to take advantage of the situation.

A game of strategy.

Martivini selling Serie A gives him a chance to move up and compete for the UEFA position.

Likewise, Lu Yang giving up his initiative might actually lead to better starting conditions for him.
