I AM the Football Star

”Among them, Kaint has finally returned to his familiar position. Although he can perform well as a full-back or winger, his most powerful position is undoubtedly the midfield, determined by this player’s technical characteristics.”

”Oh, my God, is this for real?”

The commentator was stunned.

Generally speaking, in the first three minutes of the game, the commentator would introduce the starting players of both sides, as well as their recent form, to allow the fans to fully understand the competing teams.

But now, the commentator hadn’t finished the introductions, and a goal occurred in the match.

Kaint attempted a through pass to Talista but was intercepted by Cortino.

This kick was mainly due to Kaint’s lack of precision in his footwork.

Cortino dribbled laterally, creating space between him and the instantly counter-attacking Kaint.

During this time, the King of Purple Lilies, Carrel, retreated to provide support.

Cortino made a ground long pass to Carrel.

Because Carrel retreated almost to the midfield, Lam did not follow closely to mark Carrel.

Marking tightly when the opponent receives the ball is really effective, generally preventing the offensive player receiving the pass from turning around.

If they can’t turn around, they can’t initiate an attack.

At the same time, adding some movements with the hands, whether the opponent tries to turn and shake off or accelerate suddenly, it won’t be that easy.

It can be said that this defensive method can restrain most players, minimizing the opponent’s attacks.

Many strong defensive teams must have this component.

In the Premier League, this type of defense is very common, which is why many technical players, as well as speed players, become ineffective when they move to the Premier League.

Because they can only back to the goal to receive the ball, and after they get it, they can’t create any threat.

But this defense also has flaws.

Firstly, it requires high physical qualities from the player.

Because the core of this method is the physical collision and confrontation before and after the opponent receives the ball.

Second, it requires the player to have a good sense of position.

Since this is close marking, if the opponent deliberately drags you out of your defensive zone and you follow, you’ll be out of position. If you don’t follow, the opponent will break through your tight marking defense.

Thirdly, it also has requirements on the referee’s leniency in the match.

If the main referee is very strict, this kind of defense will result in many yellow cards, putting the team in a passive position.

Lam is currently in the second situation.

Carrel retreated too far back; if he follows, there will be gaps behind him, easily exploited by Perotti’s diagonal runs.

Although Lam was born as a central defender, he has always played the role of Destructors’ central defender, which means going everywhere to compete and make breakouts.

After playing as a defensive midfielder, although emphasizing positioning, his sense of position has never been top-notch, so he deliberately reminds himself to improve.

This is the only way to make progress.

Cortino on the opposite side is a defensive midfielder with excellent positioning, though his sweeping ability is a bit weaker, contrasting with Lam’s different style within defensive midfielders, and they also compete for the national team position.

Lam has received more national team appearances lately due to being more familiar with Lu Yang and Morici.

But this does not mean Lam is superior to Cortino.

Bang!

Without any warning.

Just when Lam was relieved he didn’t go out and maintained his position.

Facing a distance close to forty meters from the goal, Carrel suddenly took a shot.

In an instant, the roar of a tiger and the whistle of a dragon.

The football flew past Lam like a missile.

A gust of wind came and Lam was stunned.

This...

If hit by this, one would be injured and forced to retire on the spot, right?

This shot, it’s incredibly powerful!

Without turning back, Lam could hear the frantic celebration coming from the stands of Frankie Stadium.

In an instant, Lam felt as if he was plunged into an ice cave.

”GOAL! A characteristic Carrel goal!”

”This is the dominant shot of the King of Purple Lilies!”

”A super world-class goal has been born!”

”Wow! Thirty-nine point five meters! That’s an ultra-long-range goal!”

”Lam had no options; he couldn’t imagine someone would shoot from this distance; it’s too absurd!”

”This is simply an intercontinental missile! Long-range attack! Laser-guided!”

”Indeed, even though Carrel is the King of Long Shots, he hasn’t attempted such a long-range shot in a while.”

”What a shot! No wonder he is the King of Long Shots!”

”A hundred and thirty-four kilometers per hour! My God! This shot speed broke Carrel’s previous long-shot speed record!”

”Before this, Carrel’s fastest, reportedly over a hundred and fifty kilometers per hour, was an ancient record without measuring instruments, only estimated.”

”With official records, Carrel’s fastest shot speed was against Juventus with a classic explosive shot, reaching a speed of a hundred and twenty-four kilometers per hour.”

”It’s worth mentioning that Lu Yang once delivered a super long-shot at a speed of a hundred and twenty-eight kilometers per hour against the Star of Italy in a match!”

”However, it was an unofficial game, so it wasn’t included in Lu Yang’s records.”

”Now, before Lu Yang, who was known as the new King of Long Shots, could break Carrel’s record, Carrel himself took action!”

”Now, all the fans in the stadium, tell me, who is the real King of Long Shots! Who is the true king of biu biu biu!”
