I AM the Football Star

Beep beep beep!

After three whistle blows, the few fans of San Remo went wild with celebration.

They defeated the leaders of the standings!

They beat Juventus!

They avenged their defeat in the Italian Super Cup!

On the field, Ancelotti looked somewhat desolate.

It shouldn’t be.

Today he clearly felt he was in great form, so why couldn’t he score?

Thinking, Ancelotti shot the ball hard from the center circle.

The ball soared and then landed precisely into the goal at a distance.

Such precision is maddening!

This...

Ancelotti looked up at the sky.

Jehovah, are you playing with me?

”Ancelotti, why are your eyes a bit red?” Lu came over with a victorious stride.

Today, San Remo won.

But it doesn’t mean San Remo is stronger.

Without that Reverse Moment Card, San Remo would most likely have lost.

But there was no choice, San Remo had to win this match.

In the long 38-round tournament, this match might seem insignificant.

But looking at the schedule with an analytical eye, this match might determine San Remo’s success or failure in the first half of the season and even the entire season.

”I just wonder if I’m getting old.” Ancelotti sighed, ”Today I had at least three golden scoring opportunities. In the past, I would have definitely scored those goals.”

”But I... I... Should I consider retiring next year?”

Ancelotti looked at Lu, unclear if he was joking or serious.

Lu shook his head: ”Are you joking? Prince Zebra, a bad day with your foot is just one game. But whether you can run to that position, and have that ability to break free, is a lifetime matter!”

”You already have the strongest ability, but you’re doubting yourself because of one poor performance? Don’t tell me you’re old; it’s not your body that’s aged, but your heart!”

Ancelotti was stunned.

”You became famous when you were young, and it’s been nearly twenty years since you became famous! But during these years, have you ever faced any major setbacks?” Lu asked, ”You’ve basically won the championships you should have. You’ve always been the offensive core of the team and loved by the fans.”

”Although there have been some injuries, none were serious enough to affect your career. While there were low points, you never experienced a real scoring drought.”

”Even if there were conflicts with the club over contracts, the outcomes were always satisfactory for you.”

”Your life has been too smooth, Ancelotti! Even though you are older than many players, and a veteran in football, you haven’t faced many real setbacks.”

”Do you know what a true assassin is?”

Ancelotti was bewildered by Lu’s series of questions.

Because everything Lu said was true.

Ancelotti’s journey has indeed been very smooth.

Even with the national team struggles, he was never the scapegoat.

”One-shot kill, that’s a true assassin.” Ancelotti’s answer was still a typical noun definition that wouldn’t surprise anyone.

But Lu retorted: ”In our Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, powerful nations do not need assassins. Because they can crush everything with armies, destroying one enemy after another.”

”Only the weak nations, having failed time and again, lost city after city, and countless compatriots died. To keep the last flame burning, someone would take a dagger to assassinate an enemy monarch and become an assassin.”

”One-hit and victory are assured, is not an assassin.”

”One-hit and failure is guaranteed, and even if successful, victory is uncertain, yet they persevere without seeing hope—that’s an assassin!”

”People always say, at his peak, Ancelotti was the strongest player assassin.”

”I disagree!”

Lu looked at Ancelotti and said: ”Only after falling from the peak, did Ancelotti truly start to become the strongest assassin!”

”You took the first step at the European Cup, very successfully. But this path is destined to be filled with bumps. Would you choose to give up at the first sign of difficulty?”

”If that’s the case, this year’s Serie A champion could be Florence, could be Rome, even could be Atlanta or Lazio... but it would definitely not be Juventus!”

Lu finished speaking and turned to leave.

Amitabha!

Hopefully, Ancelotti won’t be brought down by Sterling.

Winning against Juventus is what Lu wanted to see, but to destroy Ancelotti because of this, and especially in such a way, is something Lu definitely wouldn’t want to see.

He hopes the next time they face Juventus, they’ll encounter an even stronger Ancelotti, for a truly fair competition without reservations!

To express his regret and to truly test his strength, he can even promise, he won’t cheat!

38th round of Serie A, San Remo VS Juventus!

Lu is waiting for Ancelotti to visit the Miracle Stadium!

At the post-match press conference, the reporters were exceptionally eager.

Because today’s match had a huge impact.

”Lu, may I ask how you view Ancelotti’s poor performance today? Is he no longer fit for the high-level competition rhythm? Is he completely old now?” A reporter began to ask.

Sotu was worried.

He feared Lu would go along with this reporter’s words.

But one must know, Lu and Ancelotti are national team teammates.

Moreover, Sotu knew some things outsiders didn’t, like the fact that Ancelotti and Lu indeed had conflicts before, but at the European Cup, they had already buried the hatchet.
