I AM the Football Star

You can’t catch it anyway!

Formation, tactics, these are dependent on the players.

Even tactics that are hindered can turn the formation disadvantage into an advantage when the players are in sync.

This illogical state often appears in world football, repeatedly embarrassing tactical masters on paper.

This is also why many correct tactical analyses deviate significantly from the match trends and results.

”May I say a few words?” Lu Yang looked at the discussion reaching a deadlock and took the initiative to speak.

Maniero and Sotu nodded.

”Some time ago I went to the United States and played a rather frivolous basketball game, everyone should still remember that,” Lu Yang said.

Morici nodded repeatedly: ”Yes, you were heavily criticized by the readers in that chapter!”

”Ahem!” Lu Yang touched his nose to conceal his embarrassment. ”Being ball sports, there are actually some mutual references between them. For instance, the shotgun tactic and pocket tactic in football work quite well in basketball.”

”And some professional terms in baseball and golf are quite fitting when applied to basketball and football. Especially the magic ball theory in baseball has even influenced the operational model of modern sports!”

”Many basketball superstars, especially those skilled in passing, have expressed that their vision and passing thinking are significantly influenced by football.”

”So, there are many intersections in world ball sports at times. They influence each other and have made significant contributions to each other’s development.”

”And the crossover running positions in football have undergone more in-depth and complex developments in basketball.”

After Lu Yang finished speaking, he released video analyses of pick-and-roll switching movements during his previous leisure time research on basketball games.

This is not just a hobby; it is also highly related to his main profession, football.

By thoroughly researching this area, he can capture the forefront of tactical development in future football.

”In football, pick-and-roll exists but cannot be overly utilized, especially among off-ball players,” Old Tom knew what Lu Yang was planning to talk about.

Situations of legal pick-and-roll often appear in football.

It is what people usually say, ”This player’s smart positioning blocked the best path for the defending player to retreat.”

But this differs fundamentally from basketball’s pick-and-roll, and if such a situation occurs between off-ball players and results in certain physical contact, then the referee might intervene.

Moreover, reasonable confrontations are much more frequent in football; it’s quite normal for someone to use their hand against you if you block their path.

Overall, there are significant differences between basketball and football.

But Lu Yang shook his head, saying: ”What I actually want to talk about is crossover switching!”

”We won’t discuss the development of football tactics, but the emergence of shadow forwards and the creation of offensive midfielders mark a huge advancement in switching techniques in football. The core threat from these positions lies in their switching play, which often causes defensive players to make mistakes during the switch.”

”Another thought that springs from this is, what if my three forwards at the front can switch positions among each other?”

”This playing style aligns with what we call the central forward pulling wide, the winger cutting inside. It is becoming a more mainstream style, and teams using three forwards are increasing.”

”But what I’m talking about is not the switching of front players, but the midfield!”
