I AM the Football Star

Chapter 245: Chapter 86: Last-Minute Transfer, Superstar Arrives

”What we need is a future star winger who can become a Serie A star!”

”Becher’s is our best choice!”

The truth is revealed!

Scott revealed his choice.

Sotu took a deep breath, he really wanted to tell Russell that Fernandez, once nurtured well, could easily become a mainstay in a Serie A team’s rotation.

In the future, he could even be a starter for a weaker Serie A team.

And Bai Zhami has an extremely high ceiling; if developed properly, he could become one of the world-class forwards in the future!

Take note, not just an ordinary star in the Five Major Leagues!

But someone like Best, Ancelotti, Perrotta, Inzitens, Super Bieber, Taji, Tessli, Sotu, Maniero, Martivini, Izalelt... such superstars!

Of course, such talk is too shocking, and saying it rashly would only make people think one is immature and unreliable.

Therefore, Sotu kept biting his lip to prevent himself from sharing this opinion, one that Maniero also shared, with others.

”The true goal-scoring efficiency of Becher’s is not as high as it appears. I do not think he will become a Serie A level star. If your recruitment target is this, you should look for someone else,” Sotu said.

”Are you kidding me?” Scott said, ”He has already scored sixteen goals this season; he’s more efficient than the Serie A star Inzitens of the same type! Sotu, you should view Becher’s fairly, even though he might be a bit pricey.”

Sotu nearly coughed up blood in anger.

Have you heard of goal-scoring expectation?

Am I unjust?

Am I unprofessional?

When I lifted the World Cup for Italy, who were you basking in the glory of?

Whose blood-soaked buns were you eating?

What shameless money were you making?

But such advanced professional knowledge, Sotu, Maniero, Lu Yang, and others have not yet organized into a complete theory, so it’s inconvenient to propose recklessly.

Besides, Sotu does not want Scott to know about such core technology.

”Alright, but the locker room dynamics is something we cannot ignore,” Sotu solemnly raised the issue.

”You’re overthinking it. Becher’s will not become the team’s captain; he will show Rondo enough respect,” Scott replied.

”Are you freaking kidding me? Who doesn’t know that the locker room leader of San Remo is Lu?” Sotu was very angry, knowing that Scott was clearly playing with words.

”Is that so? Then I trust that Lu won’t be so petty; as a leader, he should understand how to accommodate new teammates,” Scott changed his tune, making it sound reasonable in any way.

”Fine, if any issues arise along these lines, I hope you can resolve them yourselves without bothering me!” Sotu glanced at Russell, then turned around and left.

He was furious!

Russell’s silence itself was a statement!

Russell had already been brainwashed by Scott, like a naive girl falling into a scumbag’s trap, unable to be pulled out despite others’ persuasion; only when she realizes she’s been tricked can you help wake her up.

In the meantime, the losses suffered are the price this girl has to pay for her growth.

It’s an unsolvable problem.

”Russell, I’ve never seen a player more outstanding than Lu, a miracle beyond understanding. There’s always someone who tries to measure a genius with ordinary perspectives, not realizing that genius cannot be fully comprehended. Regardless of who you wish to bring in, I have only one request: do not let Lu be heartbroken, or we will regret it for a lifetime,” Tom likewise turned and left.

He and Russell were old friends.

Don’t underestimate Old Tom as just an assistant coach; he genuinely loved football and contributed half his life to his hometown’s football.

Old Tom’s son had long been asking him to travel the world, to stop being an assistant coach that caused him stress and high blood pressure.

They didn’t lack money.

Old Tom had also built a business empire in his early years, handed it over to his capable son, and then immersed himself in football.

Otherwise, how could he be friends with someone like Russell, a real estate magnate?

The truth is, circles exist everywhere.

The premise of most friendships is being in the same social class.

Russell watched the backs of Sotu and Old Tom and said, ”Rest assured, I won’t harm Lu. I only intend to bring him the strongest support!”

...

January 30, the day before the transfer window closed.

Italian Football reported a deadline-day transfer.

And it was a major transfer!

Italian Third Division star Becher’s transferred to San Remo in the same league for a whopping four million euros!

Mind you, his contract only had six months left, and he would have become a free agent this summer.

Though there were many suitors, the highest offer was only 2.8 million, far less than four million.

It was a bewildering transfer.

A small minority agreed, but the majority did not.

Those who disagreed disliked both Becher’s and San Remo.

They believed Becher’s transferring within the Italian Third Division was pointless.

Even if San Remo had a high chance of moving up to Serie B, the teams previously pursuing Becher’s were mostly Serie A teams.

There’s a stark difference between top-tier leagues and second-tier leagues!

Similarly, spending four million on a six-month contract meant San Remo undoubtedly got fleeced.

No matter how urgently they needed a right winger, they shouldn’t have paid such a high price.

After all, it’s the Italian Third Division!
