I AM the Football Star

Chapter 223: Chapter 81: Penalty Shootout? (Part 4)

”Five to four! This truly has been an offensive battle! Both sides have delivered a high-level match! I believe every fan on site is satisfied with the spectacle of this game!”

”Of course, we must also congratulate San Remo, for they have successfully advanced to the fourth round of the Italian Cup! They have equaled a sixty-year-old record in Italian professional football. This is the second time in sixty years that a lower league team has entered the fourth round of the Italian Cup!”

”Perhaps now, we must seriously consider the topic raised by Lu Yang last season, the legend of San Remo is setting sail! This season, we may witness a miracle!”

”Congratulations to San Remo, congratulations to Lu Yang! He scored three goals and assisted once in this match, almost single-handedly changed the game’s situation, his impact was visible to all, and he covered over fifteen kilometers, making him one of the most diligent core players in professional football leagues.”

”Of course, we can’t overlook another man who changed the game single-handedly, and that is Vedian. Substituted at halftime, scoring a hat-trick, Vedian proved himself in front of all the fans in Italy, he did his best, and almost decided the ownership of the game.”

”His roar towards the Head Coach after scoring the third goal might prove just how blazing the flame in his heart is.”

”Let’s give Vedian the warmest applause and wish him a wonderful journey with Benevento.”

”Of course, we must not forget the goals from Sogel and Bai Zhami!”

”Sogel has already showcased his style in San Remo, developing his offside-breaking ability from an initial central forward pivot template, now he combines the ability to fight for points in the penalty area, evolving into a versatile central forward!”

”Bai Zhami’s speed is remarkable, and the goal he scored would definitely be one of the beautiful goals in his professional career. He reached the highest speed of the match, proving he is faster than Vedian with facts!”

”Versachi in this game was like a versatile brick, able to attack and defend, delivering an assist. After such a big stage, his future will be more poised and brilliant, he has the demeanor of a great player!”

”Finally, let’s give all the players in this match a round of applause; each one of them is excellent!”

The commentator highlighted some players but did not forget those unsung heroes.

The young Fernandez, who ran to the point of cramping, and the veteran Rondo, substituted in overtime, were all part of the victory.

Lu Yang’s super long-run goal was the last goal of the match.

After Benevento’s kick-off, the Main Referee blew the whistle three times.

The match officially ended.

As soon as the match ended, Vedian found Lu Yang, they exchanged jerseys, and walked into the players’ tunnel with their arms around each other’s shoulders.

This scene made the fans feel nostalgic.

Similarly, Bai Zhami, Sogel, and Versachi also exchanged jerseys with Benevento’s number one goalkeeper, number five defender, and number ten midfielder.

Instead, the most famous number seven player in Benevento did not have anyone approaching him for a jersey exchange.

He appeared a bit awkward.

...

At the post-match press conference, Lu Yang and Vedian undoubtedly attended.

The reporters were very excited.

Because this was almost the most exciting match of the season across all levels and competitions in Italian football.

The game had nine goals, with the score alternating, three comebacks, four ties, a half-time killer goal, injury-time equalizer, overtime killer, zero-angle goal, a forty-meter goal, speed-penetration one-on-three goal, and a magical fast break long-run piercing the goalkeeper’s legs, all sorts of famous moments were present.

With the huge non-football significance behind it, the reporters were eager for a long time.

Journalist: ”Vedian, why did you perform so well in this match? Was it because facing your old club made you unusually excited?”

This question was a bit tricky.

But Vedian, unlike some brainless speed-type Brothers Ni, responded: ”I am very grateful for the welcome and blessings from the San Remo fans, I believe doing my best in the match is the greatest respect for San Remo, in this match, I have achieved that.”

Journalist: ”What did you say to the Head Coach after scoring the third goal?”

Vedian: ”I am grateful to the Head Coach for trusting me and giving me the opportunity.”

Journalist: ”What did he say to you? We could see he was speaking.”

Vedian was slightly stunned as he wasn’t sure if he should say it.

At this time, the Benevento Head Coach took the microphone and said: ”I told Vedian that as long as he stays injury-free and performs consistently, he will be a fixed starting forward for most of the upcoming season! He deserves such an arrangement!”

The reporter was noticeably excited: ”What about the other forwards? Who will you replace?”

Benevento Head Coach: ”We won’t replace anyone, our squad depth allows us more experimentation. We want to avoid overusing the players, so we can better challenge Serie A at the end of the season.”

Afterwards, Lu Yang and Sotu were interviewed.

Journalist: ”Lu Yang, what did the opposing number seven player say to you after scoring a goal?”

Lu Yang: ”Who? The opposing number seven player? Did he participate in this match?”

The journalist was taken aback.

Oh, well, it seems you have mastered the art of sarcasm, Lu Yang!

Did you not realize whether he was on the field during the whole match while guarding him?

But after a look at the number seven player’s data, aside from that goal, he was indeed as invisible as suggested.

Lu Yang’s sarcasm hit right on the opponent, providing the anti-black media with excellent material.

Journalist: ”Were you mocking the opponent by pointing at... your own...?”

Lu Yang: ”I think you saw it wrong, I was pointing at my foot, indicating how solid my shots are, hoping that someone wouldn’t misinterpret, haha.”

Journalist: ”Why did you roar at the opposing Head Coach after scoring the second goal?”

Lu Yang: ”I need to correct you, that wasn’t a roar, I had a very pleasant exchange with the Head Coach. I think he would agree that my suggestion to substitute Vedian was the best decision of the match, without question!”

The journalists looked at the Benevento Head Coach, who awkwardly smiled and could only nod.

Otherwise, what else could he say?

Say he wanted to kill Lu Yang at that moment?

Scoring goals is no crime!

Moreover, Vedian scored three!

Even though Benevento lost the match in the end, nobody would blame them. On the contrary, this match actually helped Benevento find the answer to their frontline.

In the second half of the season, their performance might be even better, as their lineup has finally stabilized.

And everyone knows, three of San Remo’s goals in this match should not have happened.

They belonged to Lu Yang.

Every goal was a Miracle Ball!

Don’t even mention Benevento’s goalkeeper, bring in Buffon, Casillas, or Neuer, and they would all be just as helpless, saving even one of them would be a miracle!
