I AM the Football Star

Chapter 217: Chapter 80: This Is a Match for San Remo

”Bai Zhami, you played like shit in the first half, you know that? Shit!” Sotu sprayed Bai Zhami, ”In the second half, I need your breakthrough, you can’t always let Lu Lai do your job for you. If that’s the case, why did the team buy you?”

Sotu’s words were harsh but logical.

Bai Zhami nodded heavily.

In fact, the welcome Vedian received today made him somewhat uncomfortable.

Because his role was to fill the void left by Vedian’s departure.

Thus, there exists a comparative relationship between him and Vedian.

Last season, Vedian scored 25 goals with 10 assists, showcasing his all-round abilities in the Italian D Division.

And this season?

goals and 3 assists.

Not bad, but definitely not good.

Even Fernandez, who cost much less, has similar stats.

To the extent that occasionally some fans would say things like if only Vedian were here.

Bai Zhami definitely cares about such words; don’t forget his personality.

Deep down, what he lacks most is a sense of security.

He needs to prove himself.

Finally, Sotu initially wanted to adjust today’s central defense lineup, but after looking at the substitutes bench, he held back.

Although Naji is a big weakness, San Remo truly doesn’t have a better center-back substitute.

However, the combination of Naji and Palacios as tall center-backs has a fatal flaw: speed... turning speed, tracking speed, etc.

The nemesis of such center-backs is the agile and fast type.

One Benevento number seven is already enough trouble for these two.

If you add Vedian, it’s hard to even imagine.

Next season, no matter what, we need to bring in one or two more center-backs.

Adjustment finished.

The second half began.

Sure enough, as Sotu predicted, Benevento really switched to a 433.

Their midfield control thus decreased, giving Lu Yang the chance to run and even hold the ball in the midfield.

San Remo tentatively launched an attack.

Lu Yang played a one-two with Bai Zhami, passing the opposing midfielder.

Faced with the opposing right-back, Bai Zhami did not hesitate and went for a direct breakthrough.

Benevento’s right-back was unprepared, he never expected Bai Zhami to be so fast, feeling just like Vedian.

With a burst of speed, Bai Zhami brushed past the opponent, successfully reaching the end line.

Bang!

He kicked the ball across!

Lu Yang and Sogel rushed into the penalty area one after the other.

But the opposing goalkeeper, highly skilled and bold, directly charged out, catching the football in mid-air.

Benevento’s goalkeeper looked at Lu Yang with lingering fear, indicating that as long as he doesn’t kick the ball, they can remain friends.

He was truly afraid of when Lu Yang held the ball.

A half-field shooting range covering 180 degrees, whoever challenges ends up as background.

This attack didn’t succeed, and Benevento retaliated against San Remo.

The goalkeeper directly threw a powerful handball towards the outside of the penalty area.

Lu Yang sensed danger and shouted towards the midfield, ”Watch out for the counterattack!”

At this time, Benevento’s number ten had already taken the ball.

He turned with the ball, dribbling past the pressing Versachi, then advanced with the ball.

Versachi chased after him all the way, but couldn’t catch up.

This is enough to prove that this number ten is really something.

If Morici were here, he would probably have quite a battle with this number ten; they belong to the same accelerator-style midfield, both having strong personal skills.

Lu Yang couldn’t catch up in time; the number ten played a through pass to the right flank of San Remo.

There, Vedian cut inside without the ball.

Latu Yidi ran over to cover the space left by Versachi’s charge.

Yet it was just an overlapping.

The same way Bai Zhami outpaced Benevento’s right-back, Vedian did so against Latu Yidi.

It’s not that Latu Yidi didn’t try hard; with age, speed is really his weak point.

Once you enter positional play, Latu Yidi’s defense strength is very high. But if opponents keep their distance and use speed, he has no solution.

Many veterans often become famous because of this when faced with younger, faster players.

Vedian continued dribbling down the flank.

Naji kept retreating; he knew how fast Vedian was, and he absolutely couldn’t charge forward.

But Naji overlooked that, in this way, only Matias was left to face Vedian.

Vedian directly pushed the ball, creating an angle.

This move, Lu Yang was extremely familiar with.

”Charge forward!” shouted the experienced Palacios, ”Charge forward quickly!”

Both center-backs cowered within the penalty area, afraid to advance, while a forward who has moved to the top side of the area with an angle does what?

Bang!

Vedian shot furiously.

The ball flew over between Naji and Palacios.

Jalard dove, but the ball had curvature, bypassing his fingertips and drilling into the net.

Substitute Vedian scored within ten minutes, leveling the score for Benevento.

His playstyle, compared to traditional wingers, showed more of an inside forward flavor, significantly increasing offensiveness.

Some San Remo fans even saw traces of Lu Yang in him.

This type of flank shot is exactly Lu Yang’s specialty this season.

Besides the shot being closer than Lu Yang’s, everything else was very similar.

He’s paying attention to Lu Yang!

He’s learning better things!

He’s making himself better!

After scoring, Vedian pressed his hands downward, signaling his teammates not to celebrate.

He quietly ran back to his half while glancing at his head coach during this process.
