I AM the Football Star

Chapter 238: Chapter 84: Advanced Data, Expected Goals, and Winter Transfer Signings (13,000-Word Major Chapter) (7)

Brescia hopes to be promoted to Serie B, but they actually don’t lack good players on the front line, and their current performance is also good. If Becher’s cannot improve the team within three matches, the team is very likely to put him on the bench.

Just like if Benevento’s number seven player does not transfer away this winter window, you watch, the Head Coach who previously held him in high regard will definitely have no hesitation in removing him and then promote Vedian.

Benevento only won one out of the four matches before the winter break, almost getting caught up by the teams behind them, which has a lot to do with their 433 formation.

After the winter break, they will definitely adjust to a 442 formation.

All their previous actions were just to prevent the number seven player from transferring during the winter window; they wanted a high-level substitute for any eventuality.

Benevento’s number seven player is completely unaware that his future lies on the bench; he still thinks the Head Coach is determined to play 433 or replace Vedian and switch back to 442.

Team transfers, it’s a very deep game.

Such operations belong to routine actions for Benevento.

There are even small teams that want to sign a certain player, but the transfer fee and salary that the player demands are too high. Then the small team finds a big team with a good relationship to deliberately keep the player dangling.

On the last day before the transfer window closes, the big team tells the player they don’t need him, forcing the player to hastily transfer to the small team, and due to time constraints, both the transfer fee and salary take a cut.

Even more, for example, the news exposed today that Barça officially announced Messi will leave involves even more behind-the-scenes struggles and intrigues.

All these things are too many to count.

San Remo Chairman’s office.

”Sotu, are you sure we don’t need Becher’s?” Mr. Russell repeatedly confirmed, even rarely showing a hint of displeasure on his face, ”He’s precisely what we need; you shouldn’t refuse such a gift.”

Sotu firmly shook his head: ”Russell, I understand your thoughts, but football sometimes is not just about football. The same player, the same coach, the same tactics, but sometimes the team’s level is completely different.”

”We need to consider the potential damage to the team’s original structure that introducing players might cause.”

”I believe you also know that Lu is the absolute core player of the team, but his playing style has not always been well-received externally. His status within the team is something those outside could never imagine.”

”You’ve watched Lu’s matches; you know how important he is to us. I do not wish for any player we introduce to conflict with Lu, even if it’s just a possibility.”

Russell frowned: ”But Lu isn’t selfish, is he? He’s willing to give everything for the team!”

Sotu said: ”I recommend you take a look at a historical masterpiece from China called the ’Records of History’, which contains many stories of seemingly hard-to-understand heroes, great kings, and sages from the East.”

”Perhaps the greatest virtues of Eastern people as we see it are selflessness, humility, and modesty. But in fact, this is where they’re most domineering; they’re willing to give everything on the premise that... everything is theirs.”

”In a traditional Chinese family, parents are always the most selfless but also the most domineering presence.”

”Lu is willing to treat San Remo as a family, to treat all teammates as his family members. That’s why he’s willing to give everything, run tirelessly, cover everyone’s weaknesses, and help them play to their strengths.”

”But if anyone in this family tries to challenge his absolute status, he will make them feel a side of him that’s more ruthless than he treats his rivals. I guarantee it!”

Russell’s lips moved; he didn’t quite understand Eastern people, but he knew Sotu really did not want Becher’s.

”Alright.” Russell had to accept this, but in his heart, he always felt that such a good child as Lu couldn’t be as domineering as Sotu described.

He instinctively ignored Lu Yang’s fierce confrontations on the field, his provocations of opposing players, and even the Head Coach and his hard-nosed approach.

Because that was Lu Yang’s attitude towards outsiders, none of his own ever felt Lu Yang’s violent side.

This is also the downside of many improperly educated Eastern families.

Their children have no idea how influential, how hardworking, how tenacious and uncompromising their parents are outside; they even think that at sixteen or seventeen, they have more knowledge than their parents, so they shout and challenge for dominance.

Little do they know that everything they will experience in the future has already been experienced and overcome by their parents.

When they achieve that stage, they will truly be qualified to take over the mantle of the family from their parents, to shield everyone in the family from the wind and rain, to blaze trails through thorns.

...

The winter break may be long, but for San Remo, their winter break was shortened by one-third.

Although on January 26th they will only face the 23rd round of the league.

But on January 23rd, they will have to face the fourth round of the Italian Cup.

Their opponent is Venice, a Serie B team, and they are currently in the relegation zone.

This is not a strong opponent.

But for San Remo, this battle cannot be lost.

So the two newly introduced players Camihong and Belletti will both sit on the bench on standby.

Because the squad has not yet stabilized, the atmosphere within the San Remo team is somewhat peculiar now.
