I AM the Football Star

Chapter 237: Chapter 84: Advanced Data, Expected Goals, and Winter Transfer Signings (13,000-Word Major Chapter) (6)

Hiss hiss hiss!

On the other side of the screen, several people gasped.

Morici smiled slightly, disdainfully saying, ”The terrifying thing is not just that, the Italian Cup is truly this monster’s stage. In the current three rounds of the Cup, he has scored a total of eight goals, but his expected goals are only barely two!”

”Do you know what this means? Theoretically, he should have scored only two goals, but he scored four times that amount!”

”That zero-angle goal and that free-kick goal from over forty meters together have an expected goal value far below 0.1! Almost none of his goals have an expected goal value exceeding 0.5!”

What is the definition of a Miracle Ball specialist?

This is it.

Sotu shook his head and said, ”No wonder everyone finds watching Lu play so thrilling, because most of his goals seem like impossible miracle goals to normal people!”

”Alright, I will absorb and digest this concept. But I have a very important question to ask you, Lu. Do you want Becher’s to join the team?”

The atmosphere of the video conference became tense.

Everyone knew the most crucial moment had arrived.

San Remo’s winter transfer window signings were watched by many.

Whether Becher’s would bring destructive influences to San Remo, no one knew.

”If it was a winger core as efficient as Inzitens, I could accept a certain degree of sacrifice. Because what they can bring to the team is more than what my core playing style can bring.” Lu began, but only said half a sentence.

But between smart people, half a sentence was enough.

Saying more would be pointless.

”I understand.” Sotu nodded, ”I will clearly inform Mr. Russell that we do not need Becher’s, don’t worry. Of course, we definitely need to recruit wingers for the team, as you are aware of the situation.”

”Naturally, I will follow the head coach’s arrangements in everything,” Lu replied.

This was also to tell Sotu that if anything unexpected did happen, there was no need for him to worry, as Lu would prioritize Sotu’s arrangements and the team’s interests, without causing unnecessary trouble.

After all, Sotu was only the head coach, and the real decision-maker for the team was still the chairman, Mr. Russell.

Sometimes, it’s tough being a head coach.

...

San Remo’s winter recruitment soon began.

However, because they were taken advantage of, their transfer spending was not small.

They spent 300,000 Euros to bring in the Serie B substitute-level veteran Belletti.

Belletti is 31 years old this year, able to play both left and right wingers and left and right midfielders. At his peak, he played for two seasons in Serie A, but neither were considered successful.

Even in Serie B, at his age, he can only be a substitute, his biggest flaw being his stamina.

But for San Remo, he fits just right.

On the one hand, most of the time the team only needs him to exert all his power for fifteen to twenty minutes, and he can walk the rest of the time. Anyway, he’s usually a substitute for some winger.

On the other hand, he is experienced and has always been a technical player, which can provide a lot of help for Fernandez and Bai Zhami.

Subsequently, San Remo spent a high price of 40w to introduce the defender Camihong from the Italian Third Division team Pentreda.

Camihong is 22 years old this year, a young player who can swing between the left-back and center-back positions.

Although his height is only 1.83 meters, making him relatively short for a center-back, his speed, passing, and interception abilities are all decent, making him a good match for the tall Naji and Palacios.

Moreover, the most crucial point is that he can substitute Rondo as a left-back, which is particularly important.

San Remo’s weakened left side is well-known, and such a glaring weakness needs specific reinforcement, or facing strong teams might end very poorly.

Camihong is not better than Rondo, but his characteristics make him more suitable for the left-back position.

San Remo’s series of moves never got involved in the race for Becher’s, which was somewhat surprising.

So far, the Serie A team closest to Becher’s, Sampdoria, has offered 2.8 million Euros.

Considering Becher’s contract will expire this summer, this price is already quite startling.

After all, many teams are willing to wait another six months for Becher’s.

The current bidders, Rome, Sampdoria, and Brescia, are in urgent need of right wingers, which is why they are bidding now. Otherwise, they could get him for free in the summer.

Of course, Becher’s willingness to leave at this time is because he is not the only excellent winger rumored to be available this summer, with many options ranked ahead of him.

His best choice is to leave now when he has multiple options.

In summer, it will be others choosing him instead.

However, Becher’s is not particularly satisfied with the current buyers.

Rome has a big platform, but it cannot guarantee his main position. If he goes to Rome, he has only half a season to prove himself and will have to compete with Aguirre during this period.

In the summer, if both he and Aguirre don’t perform well, Rome might buy even more expensive wingers to pair with the aging Wolf King Perrotta, aiming to make another journey in the Champions League.

Otherwise, the Wolf King might indeed get angry.

Sampdoria, although also a Serie A team, is currently in the relegation zone; if it’s just half a season in Serie A, it might be better to find a good Serie B team.
