I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

In the boundless forest.

The sun is abundant, and the climate is humid and hot.

Various centuries-old ancient trees are everywhere, and even towering millennia-old trees stand like small mountains on the undulating ground.

Under the sea of green trees is a natural ecological garden made up of shrubs, vines, ferns, and moss.

They are the cradle for insects, squirrels, snakes, and these small creatures.

Don’t underestimate these small creatures, because if an ordinary person walks among them, even if they don’t encounter dangerous demons, the bites from these inconspicuous little things might cost them their lives.

Various human-related diseases may be spread through them.

At this moment, in a piece of woodland, these insidious ”assassins” suddenly gathered their movements, as if perceiving some terrifying aura.

Even the cicadas, which had been singing boldly due to the hot climate, stopped their calls.

”Swish!”

Beside a tranquil great river, a giant, majestic, and ferocious head suddenly sprang out.

Followed by its entire body, its wet scales reflecting bright red light under the sunlight.

Obviously, this is a Red Dragon.

As soon as it surfaced, it looked at the humanoid creature it held in its claws.

Seeing that it was unharmed, the Red Dragon let out a sigh of relief.

Then, it stepped forward towards the depths of the dense forest.

”Boom!”

It wasn’t until it completely went away that insects and small animals dared to poke their heads out from their nests and observe the situation.

Everything seemed to return to its lively state.

These past days, Hephaestus felt that he was in quite a troublesome situation.

The Extraordinary vassals of the Green Dragon Queen in the forest should have already known the situation at the juvenile Dragon’s Nest, and each has gone mad, searching throughout the Jade Forest, especially the surroundings of the Dragon’s Nest.

Fortunately, before Gauss fainted, he made the right decision.

Head in the opposite direction, otherwise, on the first day of finishing the commission, he might have already been blocked by the Extraordinary Demons on the way back.

But this deception can only be temporary.

After not spotting Gauss’s trail, the Extraordinary Demons began directing many vassals to sweep towards the depths of the forest.

These days, Hephaestus has seen the silhouettes of flying demons grazing overhead several times.

For this reason, he had to hurry to transfer Gauss further into the forest before the ground searching troops arrived.

At present, returning is temporarily impossible.

Hephaestus doesn’t have the confidence to lead Gauss against the Extraordinary Demons and their Monster Legion.

Once discovered, demons will soon flood in continuously, eventually completely submerging them.

During their continuous transfer, Gauss slept deeply enough; even as he was gripped and moved around by Hephaestus’s claw, he showed no signs of being affected. This was probably the only good thing happening recently.

Thinking of this, Hephaestus couldn’t help but cast a resentful glance at his master.

He slept comfortably, while Hephaestus had been worried all day long for this.

Hephaestus looked towards the depths of the forest.

Upon detecting that the Extraordinary Demons were gradually approaching, Hephaestus racked his brain, finally coming up with an idea.

Well, actually it wasn’t necessarily his idea.

In truth, a crisp voice mysteriously echoed in his mind the day before yesterday, reminding him.

At first, it scared him quite a bit, but after giving the suggestion, the voice didn’t appear again, and he regarded it as just an auditory hallucination in his mind.

No, it should be his hidden brain exerting itself, coming up with this result.

In any case, awakened by this, he prepared to delve into the Demon Territory, crossing the Jade Forest, and entering a completely new Demon Territory.

If he left the range of the Jade Forest, it surely should be that the demons in the forest would be wary of demons from another area.

As for whether this idea is good or bad, at the moment, there is no one to analyze it for him.

He could only think based on his own experience. Back when he was near Gold and Silver Town, acting as a tyrant, he often drove away or secretly slaughtered invading demons.

The fights between demons actually occurred no less frequently than those with humans.

One accord to repel outsiders?

That has to be within the relatively disciplined Demon King’s Army. Most wild demons generally only experience bloody battles daily.

After all, with increasing numbers, competition for limited resources must occur.

The leader of the demons in another area certainly could not allow the forces of the Green Dragon Queen to so blatantly search within his territory.

In the world of demons, such utter humiliation is akin to being trampled on and rubbed underfoot.

He only needs to take Gauss towards the border of the two Domains, and then, using the Green Dragon Army’s hesitation, find a suitable position to hide and await Gauss’s awakening.

During this period, he couldn’t help but feel somewhat fatigued.

Missing the days when Gauss decided everything.

He discovered for the first time that making all the decisions is such a tiring affair.

After this is over, Gauss must reward him with ten sheep... no, a hundred sheep.

He wants to indulge himself thoroughly.

As Hephaestus continues forward, he finally brings Gauss to the edge of the Jade Forest.

The vegetation gradually rustles, and the air becomes even hotter.

Of course, as a strong species capable of living inside the heart of a volcano, Hephaestus is incredibly adapted to this hot climate.

Hephaestus raised his head and looked towards the clear sky.
