I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

The route was even more complex than Gauss had imagined.

Gauss took a full three days to pass through the array of the Green Dragon Queen’s monster legion.

Moreover, the reason it took only three days was that the Green Dragon seemed to have issued a further advance order, so the originally large number of demons began to push forward in formations of various sizes.

In the forest, a goblin stood up from the bushes, its gaze slowly watching the last monster battalion’s figure leave the animal path.

”For now, it’s temporarily safe.”

Gauss’s body was already covered in filth, looking just like a lone wild beast, but these were all deliberately maintained by him.

The results also showed that his efforts were worth it.

During these few days, though he encountered some unexpected situations, he managed to pass through safely.

Other demons could not discern that such a goblin, indistinguishable from any other goblin, was actually a human in disguise.

Of course, it was also related to the opponent’s level of strength; if Gauss were to appear under the eyelids of an epic-level creature like the Green Dragon, it would be difficult to sneak through.

Disguise Skill is, after all, a fifth-ring spell. Although its effect is good, it cannot deceive targets across such a large level difference.

Fortunately, everything went relatively smoothly.

He safely passed the most dangerous hurdle.

His mind also relaxed a bit.

During these few days, he was almost always alert to everything happening around him, never getting any sleep. Besides twisting his way forward, he spent the rest of the time hiding in a secluded tree hole or cave, waiting for the surrounding monsters to depart, and then continued to advance.

One could say that this kind of stealth was more exhausting than most battles, not only physically but also with more mental pressure.

Because Gauss knew very well that once exposed, his situation would become very dangerous.

”It’s really not easy, those professional scouts.”

He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart, his experiences in the past few days were just the norm for others.

He felt that in the future, he would have more respect for intelligence officers.

After the departure of the Green Dragon Legion, the forest suddenly became quiet.

So quiet that it was almost eerie, not even the roars of wild beasts echoed, seemingly intimidated by the overwhelming oppressive military force.

Gauss took out the map given to him by the Adventurer’s Guild.

It recorded the exact location of the young dragon’s nest.

After comparing some surrounding landscapes with the corresponding information on the map, Gauss roughly confirmed his current location and then cast his gaze in a certain direction of the forest.

There lay the location of the dragon’s nest.

Assuming there were no unexpected changes.

In the blink of an eye, another two days passed.

Gauss had already traveled far into the Jade Forest, a place most adventurers might not reach in their lifetime.

There was no trace of human activity around, perhaps hundreds or thousands of years ago, this was once human territory, but time erased all traces.

The essence of magic became denser.

Moreover, the natural magic here seemed different from that on the Carlos Kingdom’s territory, with a hint of chaotic aura.

Even though Gauss didn’t use any high-level magic, just trying out some tricks in small areas.

Yet he still found that his spells seemed a bit more uncontrollable here, fortunately, that tendency was not too strong, only causing extremely slight interference during his casting, which he could suppress with a little control.

Besides the risk of loss of control, the chaotic natural magic also brought some positive effects, which meant that there was a probability of spell power being amplified.

Even so, Gauss didn’t like the aura of magic here.

It was a feeling of discomfort all over, always feeling out of place amidst it.

Gauss lay on the hillside, his sight on the distant valley.

The valley here was where the dragon’s nest lay.

One day ago, he had already arrived in the vicinity. After a simple reconnaissance of the surrounding environment, he temporarily settled on this high ground where he could clearly see the situation in the valley from afar.

The reason he didn’t take any further actions was that he was waiting for the message from the Adventurer’s Guild.

He held a simple long-range communication device, with extremely simple functions: after confirmed receipt from the other party, the other end would light up.

The guild had agreed on the action timing with him based on the signal from this simple device.

Even though he already had a ”Silent Aviary” that could seal the environment, for safety reasons, the guild still hoped he would wait until the Green Dragon Queen officially engaged with the mysterious powerhouse sent by the guild’s side before he began action.

In this way, even if an accident occurred, he would have more room to react.

Gauss agreed entirely.

The sense of oppression brought by the Green Dragon Queen as an enemy was truly overwhelming.

It was unnerving; he couldn’t imagine what he could do in the face of the Green Dragon Queen herself.

Even if all means were used up, if he chose to escape, it likely wouldn’t be as fast as the opponent, but to choose to fight to the death, could he cross the opponent’s several-kilometer-long domain to reach the opponent’s front?

If the gap in strength was too wide, no matter how many means there are, it becomes futile.

Just as he was pondering when he could begin his actions, the transparent pendant in his palm suddenly flashed with light.
