I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

As for why not use magic attacks and acidic breath, there must be an opportunity to use them.

As a member of the true dragons, the Black Dragon naturally has a magic talent, but it is limited to poison and corrosion types of magic, and Hephaestus is faster in flight than it.

Hephaestus’s mad biting makes it hard for the Black Dragon to find the right moment for a magical counterattack, so it might as well rely on its physical instincts to fight back.

Logically speaking, when two Giant Dragons fight physically, even if there is a power gap, they can last more than two minutes, after all, the physical quality of a Giant Dragon is excellent, and they can recover quickly even when injured.

But unfortunately, the first Green Dragon was too disappointing and died prematurely without holding up long enough.

This allowed the first Bigby’s Hand that dealt with the Green Dragon to be freed.

And it became the final straw that broke the young Black Dragon.

It had to stay alert to the giant hand trying to grab it from one side, deal with the Red Dragon snapping at its back like a mad dog, and with limited combat experience from being raised by the Green Dragon Queen, it naturally made forced errors under such high pressure.

Hephaestus clenched its neck with its jaws and flung it to the ground.

The Black Dragon struggled desperately, but Hephaestus was stronger, pinning it to the ground for the moment.

And after delaying a few seconds, Bigby’s Hand arrived shortly thereafter.

The silver giant hand landed on its body with the terrifying force of dozens of tons.

”Boom!!!”

The powerful impact transmitted through its body to the ground caused the land within hundreds of meters to tremble violently.

Black blood exploded from its body.

As the dust settled, the young Black Dragon was immobile.

Its neck clamped by Hephaestus and pressed to the ground.

While the trunk of its body was mercilessly pinned down by Bigby’s Hand, the Black Dragon lay on the ground in a supremely awkward position, like a goose waiting to be slaughtered.

Hephaestus gazed at the pinned, weakening force of resistance of the jet-black Giant Dragon beneath it, a gleam of joy flashing in its golden vertical pupils.

Is this a true dragon?

It doesn’t seem much after all.

A mere chicken and dog!

Not as capable as Lord Hephaestus.

At this moment, it was filled with a twisted sense of triumph.

Could such an inferior species as it truly dictate the life and death of a dragon?

The only slight regret for Hephaestus was that the true dragon beneath it was a Black Dragon, and not a Red Dragon.

Otherwise, it would have been even more exhilarating.

The Black Dragon, under the combined assault of the giant hand and the Red Dragon, was gradually losing strength.

After a brief emotional high, Hephaestus did not forget its mission.

Gauss had stressed to it the need for quick and decisive action in this operation.

So it quickly reined in its pride.

Even though it wanted to humiliate this true dragon further, it decided to give it a swift end.

After deciding, its upper body suddenly exerted force,

Its neck muscles, covered in scarlet scales, bulged, and the massive biting force was transmitted through its jaws to the Black Dragon’s neck.

”Crack, crack!”

The Dragon Scales pierced by fangs emitted a shattering sound.

Neither Dragon Scales nor the tough dragon bones beneath could withstand the heavy pressure and began to fracture.

The Black Dragon’s vertical pupils suddenly opened wide.

But at this moment, it had no means of resisting, the combination pressure from Hephaestus and Bigby’s Hand left it unable even to twist its neck.

”Crunch!”

The first explosive sound burst open in the Black Dragon’s neck.

It was the sound of the first dragon bone cracking in its neck.

”Crunch! Crunch!”

Then the second, third...

The multiple dragon bones burst like firecrackers, forming a continuous sound.

Finally, it reached a certain extreme limit.

”Rip!!!”

Hephaestus jerked its head.

Black Dragon’s hide was stretched to its limit by Hephaestus’s fangs and tearing force, the scales bursting apart, revealing the dark red muscle tissue beneath.

Inside, those muscle fibers were like ropes pulled to their limits, snapping one by one.

”Swish!!”

Black and red Dragon Blood shot up into the sky.

The Black Dragon’s head, along with nearly two meters of its neck, was forcibly torn from its body by Hephaestus.

Dragon Blood splattered all over Hephaestus’s head, but it merely held onto the Black Dragon’s head, tilting its own head back, quietly relishing the scorching Dragon Blood trickling down its face.

A flash of lightning flickered deep in the sky, illuminating its blood-stained face.

Hephaestus quietly indulged in this fleeting moment of victory, feeling as if reborn.

Deep inside, it seemed as if a knot in its heart had finally been untangled.

Perhaps it might never become a Giant Dragon with true dragon lineage, but it could transcend them!

The Dragon Blood within its body began to boil.

If Gauss were beside Hephaestus at this moment, he would clearly detect the power within Hephaestus’s bloodstream growing increasingly potent.

Just like those Dragon Descendants who undergo the evolution ritual through the baptism of Dragon Blood.

Of course, unlike the Dragon Descendants receiving blessings, only a small part of Hephaestus’s transformation was stimulated by the Black Dragon’s Dragon Blood.

In the sky, Gauss, deftly casting Spells between intervals, finally sensed the two kill notifications from below.

An unending flow of bloodline power raced into his body.

”Killed Extraordinary Demon Green Dragon (Juvenile) *1”

”Killed Extraordinary Demon Black Dragon (Juvenile) *1”

”Extraordinary Path: Kill 5 types of Extraordinary Level Demons (3/5). Reward: Randomly extract a Racial Talent from an Extraordinary Level Demon.”

”Due to killing a Legendary Race creature—a true dragon—the title [True Dragon Slayer] has been enhanced (3/∞), making attacks against true dragons stronger, with a small chance of inflicting Dragon Race-specific true damage.”

”Purple quality Racial Talent [Dragon Species] is absorbing bloodline energy...”

Perhaps it was the experience of the first time.

This time, the speed of absorbing the bloodline energy had noticeably quickened, taking only a dozen seconds for Gauss to fully assimilate it.

The purple light of Gauss’s Racial Talent [Dragon Species] now showed a hint of gold.

Evidently, its quality had reached the peak of purple quality.

Hasn’t it successfully advanced yet? Just a bit short?

Gauss felt somewhat surprised.

But upon reconsideration, it might be due to the overwhelming strength of the Dragon Race’s Racial Talent.

He perceived that even though Racial Talents from different creatures might appear to have similar qualities on the surface, in reality, there was a significant difference.

Among his numerous talents, perhaps only the mysterious source of ghost lineage could match the advancement pace of the Dragon Race talent in quality.

”Then, only...”

Gauss turned his attention to the last Blue Dragon.

It could only blame its bad luck; if the sacrifice of its three dragon companions could advance Gauss’s Dragon Species to golden quality, there would still be a slim chance for it to be spared.

But now, that probability had plummeted below ten percent.

Firstly, he was still in peak condition, having absorbed the bloodlines of three dragons, remaining powerful.

Only three minutes had passed, leaving him with seven minutes more.

Most importantly, the guaranteed draw was nearly complete; who would give up at such a time?

True dragons aren’t as commonplace as goblins found by the roadside.

Even fewer roam boldly in their juvenile stages.

Miss this opportunity, and who knows when Gauss could next absorb true Dragon Blood.

Of course, Gauss could also advance Dragon Species through Extraordinary Points in the next stage after completing the first stage of the Extraordinary Path, but conserving a bit is always best; the hungry talents are numerous.

Another reason was his first talent extraction from an Extraordinary Demon now being within reach.

The first was the Demon King Species Eden, second was the Green Dragon, third was the Black Dragon, if he could add the Blue Dragon to his collection, it would become the fourth in the prize pool.

At that point, whatever he drew from the top four would be an exceptional talent.

Gauss sensed the power within the title [True Dragon Slayer].

After increasing the kill count from 1 to 3, its effect seemed to have become stronger.

Its effect appeared to amplify attacks under normal conditions, with a small chance to deliver special attack criticals.

Attacks under critical strike conditions were more destructive, gaining numerous additional effects such as Armor-Piercing, healing reduction, continuous damage, etc.

It’s fair to say this title could increase Gauss’s win rate by at least ten percent when facing true dragons of similar strength.
