I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Although it didn’t know how much effort the other side had poured into this, the outcome now was that the curse hadn’t killed its target at all. Instead, it had allowed the Weaver to break and then rebuild, deriving a domain Power of the same origin yet different form.

In this moment, it admitted it had underestimated the Power of hatred within human emotions.

Perhaps it was precisely because the short-lived races had such brief lifespans that they could create more possibilities within limited time.

Up in the sky, two vast domain Powers were entangled with each other.

On the ground, the tide of war was also reaching a white heat.

Taking advantage of the interval when the Magic Cannon was destroyed and forced into cooldown, the Green Dragon Army began its full-scale advance.

One army after another, large and small, surged toward the city walls from all directions.

Barry’s Adventurer’s Guild guildmaster Matthias Monroe withdrew his gaze from the clouds.

At this point, he could only place his faith in the strength of his predecessors.

”Buzzz!!!”

An invisible ultrasonic wave swept across the battlefield ahead.

Human soldiers and Adventurers caught by the ultrasound had blood spraying from their ears like fountains, and in no time their faces turned pale as they went limp, collapsing onto the ground.

Seeing this, Monroe ordered the others to tend to the wounded, while he himself used a perfectly timed counter-shock of Power to launch himself into the air.

He leaped toward the gigantic bat in the air outside the city walls.

The Corrupted Wing Dragon-Bat.

The Green Dragon Queen’s vanguard general.

A Sub-dragon Bat Demon, a Power that, like him, stood at the pinnacle of Extraordinary Creatures.

An opponent like this could not be allowed to rampage unchecked; otherwise, it wouldn’t take long before every defensive force on the surrounding walls was slaughtered.

”Beast! Die!”

Monroe, soaring high, let out a thunderous shout.

A heavy staff had appeared in his hands at some unknown moment.

The tip of the staff released a blinding burst of Holy Light.

If it connected, then even a fearsome creature like the Corrupted Wing Dragon-Bat would suffer grievous wounds.

Forced by the situation, the Corrupted Wing Dragon-Bat had no choice but to abruptly interrupt its ongoing sonic attack and dart agilely to the side.

Monroe, empowered by the Flying Skill, gave relentless chase.

His flamboyant, unrestrained posture was also to rally the defenders’ morale.

The long-range ultrasonic attack the Corrupted Wing Dragon-Bat had unleashed just now had killed and maimed many.

On a section of the wall beneath Monroe, Aaliyah and the others only spared a brief glance upward at their guildmaster’s battle before withdrawing their gazes, turning back to operate the large long-range ballistae mounted on the battlements, loosing bolts at the giant beasts charging across the plains below.

Only, none of them could help but think of Gauss.

Gauss had already been gone for a week.

They had no idea how he was now.

Here, they still had strong forces: many Adventurers, soldiers, and Profession powerhouses guarding the walls, along with the advantage of terrain and the Magic Cannon. But Gauss had gone alone deep into enemy territory—they didn’t know if he’d run into danger.

Yet the only thing they could do for Gauss now was to pray that all would go smoothly for him.

At this very moment, deep within the distant Jade Forest, in a certain gloomy, damp cave that never saw the light of day, Hephaestus was curled up, its body forming an enclosed space that shielded Gauss at its center.

Gauss had fallen unconscious right after leaving the Dragon’s Nest.

Fortunately, Hephaestus, after gaining sapience, was not stupid. It continued to follow Gauss’s last orders, flying toward the depths of the forest. And before the pursuing Power could arrive, it found a great river and plunged into it, completely concealing its aura.

This cave was a grotto it had discovered only after swimming underwater for a long time, hidden within a peculiar dark river.

Hephaestus opened its eyes slightly and looked at Gauss, whom it was shielding in the middle.

”Master, when will you wake up?”
