I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

The appearance of the Green Dragon Queen caused a sudden change in the previously balanced and tense stand-off between the two sides.

In this world, the role of an ultimate individual is decisive.

”Boom! Boom!”

”Woooo~~~~”

The army on the forest side began to beat war drums and blow horns.

The monster army quickly sprang into action.

At the forefront of the military array, nothing surpassed the vast numbers of goblins.

They were also the worst-equipped units in the monster legion.

The weapons in their hands mainly consisted of short blades, short swords, and wooden shields. They wore very little metal armor and mostly sported vine armor. A scarce few goblins, appointed as charge team leaders due to their somewhat stronger bodies, wore leather armor.

As a temporary auxiliary troop wrapped into the Green Dragon Army, their greatest function was to serve as the first wave of expendables in battle.

However, their poor equipment was a result of rational resource allocation on one hand, and limitations of reality on the other. Some fine weapons and sturdy armor were inherently heavy, which for most goblins lacking in robust physique, agility was their advantage rather than power and stamina. Even providing sophisticated gear would likely just be a burden.

”Roar!”

”Kill all humans!”

”Kill all humans!”

Although the treatment of the auxiliary goblin legion was mediocre, their morale was extremely high.

Holding worn-out weapons, they gazed fiercely at the human defenders on the narrow city wall.

Crossing this natural barrier, they could advance unimpeded directly to Barry City.

Were they to breach the city, they would also relish the fruits of victory.

The wild goblins’ willingness to be absorbed by the Green Dragon Army was not just due to the worship in their bloodline for the Giant Dragon, but also a part stirred by their restless wild nature.

Their genes seemed to yearn for violence, slaughter, and the management of physiological desires.

Yet individual goblins were not deemed strong, only when mingled within a group could their wild nature be fully ignited.

And the current Green Dragon Army was undoubtedly the most formidable demon legion within hundreds or thousands of miles.

”Roar!!!”

A majestic dragon roar echoed amidst the clouds.

All monsters that heard the sound shuddered.

It was an attack command issued by their mighty master.

The first to initiate movement was the goblin legion at the front.

Under the command of relatively elite goblin squad captains, waves of goblin troops began advancing towards the gorge like scattered ants.

While at the back, the regular troops of the Green Dragon Army leisurely began advancing towards the entrance of the plain.

From a high vantage point, the plains before the Jade Forest and low mountain ranges were gradually swallowed by an ominous deep color.

The entire land trembled slightly under the march of the monsters.

In various spots of the mountain range, concealed magic cannons slowly adjusted their positions.

Every magic cannon was hidden within the mountain, additionally shielded and protected by an array, making it impossible to be perceived solely by sight.

A crowd surrounded the magic cannon conducting final adjustments, belonging to a dedicated control class assigned specifically for operating the magic cannon.

War had ceased for over a hundred years, although minor frictions never stopped during all these years, none had reached the stage necessitating the use of the magic cannon.

Thus for this generation of army mages, it was their first real occasion to operate the magic cannon outside practicing states.

”Internal acceleration array checks are complete!”

”Everything is good.”

”Charging array is functioning well!”

”....”

Despite the neat and orderly sounds, in the space of the mountain body, everyone’s breathing instinctively grew heavy.

Heartbeats involuntarily began accelerating.

An indescribable emotion of tension, fear, or excitement surfaced uncontrollably from the depths of their hearts.

The arrival of war was so sudden.

More than half a month ago, they had been living a peaceful military life.

After receiving military orders, they hadn’t truly gathered their thoughts before finding themselves on the front line confronting the demon legion.

No one knew what would happen next or if they would see the sun tomorrow.

Yet, if there was any overly intense fear sensation, it would undoubtedly be a lie, as they presently stood at a distance without encountering a single monster up close.

Thus, at this moment, their emotions were a complex intertwining.

Only busyness could suppress idle thoughts.

”Crack crack crack——”

Upon completing adjustments, the magic cannon slowly protruded a distance out of the mountain body.

Followed by professional range mages locking angles and targets.

These army mages differed from ordinary mages, lacking strong frontal combat abilities, exchanged instead for highly specialized spell configurations.

[Link Spell] [Eagle Eye Spell] [Distance Measuring Spell] [Premonition] [Cooling Chant]...

Most spells when placed within everyday adventure combat had limited use but paired with the magic cannon at this moment could unleash destruction far beyond imagination.

The main cannon operator linked with the magic cannon calmly observed the slow march of the forefront monster troops amplifying the effect of the Eagle Eye Spell.

His field of view expanded wide.

The entire plain lay within plain sight, upon closer inspection some dashed lines appeared in view, an inherent effect carried by the magic cannon, marking its optimal attack range.

Not yet entering the optimal firing range of the magic cannon...

He silently noted in his heart.

Moreover, just as learned during training, the demon legion was also progressing with the times.

Monsters spanned wide in the formation of cross-hatched squads, battalions.

A single shot aimed at densely-packed enemy principal formations seemed evidently improbable.
