I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Gauss naturally wouldn’t be fooled by the young dragons’ attempts to bluff and exaggerate their credentials.

Did he come without knowing their backers?

Seeing that Gauss showed no reaction, several young dragons exchanged glances, with a fierce light flickering deep in their eyes.

Though they feared Gauss’s identity somewhat, it was merely out of respect for a strong adversary. Fundamentally, the relationships between the Five-Colored Dragons and Metal Dragons were not good.

They represent the two opposing branches within the Dragon Race, embodying the forces of good and evil to humans.

Although Metal Dragons do not intervene in human and demon conflicts, it doesn’t mean they would show mercy to the underlings of Five-Colored Dragons.

Their battles have never ceased, lasting several epochs.

It has only slightly eased over the past thousand years.

From this perspective, human and demon conflicts are a relatively new occurrence.

”Attack!”

A magic wand appeared in Gauss’s hand.

The other Five-Colored Dragons simultaneously tensed inside.

”Roar!”

The reason they were so quick and decisive in preparing for battle was partly that Gauss had adopted an offensive stance, and partly because they had regained their composure.

Although initially startled by Gauss’s Metal Dragon identity, a true dragon was far from being a foolish dragon beast, quickly speculating that Gauss’s strength might not be as terrifying as imagined. If a mature Silver Dragon or Golden Dragon truly descended, they wouldn’t waste time on idle talk.

If a dragon’s might was exerted on them, they might already find themselves unable to move.

Therefore, the man before them could not be a mature Metal Dragon.

Most likely, he was similar in age or slightly older than them, albeit possessing deep knowledge in Transformation Skills.

Of course, they might be guessing wrong, but there was no other way.

Given the relationship between the Five-Colored Evil Dragons and Metal Dragons, they didn’t think he would spare them today, especially with the Dragon Mother absent. Surely he wasn’t here to make friends with them?

One thing is certain: it’s never wrong to strike first.

”Kill!”

Four dragon roars exploded almost simultaneously.

The powerful sound waves carried the dragon might, sweeping in all directions.

The Black Dragon was actually the quickest to react. Its black-gray snout, lined with sharp teeth, opened wide. After its abdomen swelled, a dark green cone of acid sprayed from its mouth.

The corrosive nature of the strong acid was intense, even the air seemed to be eroded by the acid mist, emitting a terrifying hissing sound.

Fortunately, Gauss’s reaction was quick as well.

Even before the Black Dragon prepared to attack, he had already clutched the White Magic Wand, instinctively using the Any Door skill hundreds or thousands of times like breathing.

”Buzz!”

His figure vanished from his original spot.

”Sizzle!”

The young Black Dragon’s corrosive breath shot out over a hundred meters, ultimately landing on the ground, creating a trench that stretched tens of meters long and varied in depth from a few centimeters to a meter.

Indeed, a true dragon’s breath is one of their most adept means.

Gauss, having flashed a hundred meters away, caught sight of the terrain damage caused by the young Black Dragon’s breath.

Unlike Red Dragon Hephaestus’s fiery breath, a Black Dragon’s breath element is corrosive acid, a Green Dragon’s is toxic, a Blue Dragon’s is lightning, and a White Dragon’s is freezing breath.

This is closely related to their bloodlines and habitation environments.

In fact, this Black Dragon’s size is even considerably smaller than Hephaestus, but the breath’s potency is currently stronger than Hephaestus’s fiery breath.

A realization flickered in Gauss’s eyes.

Apparently, besides magic talent and bloodline inheritance, there is a distinct difference in other aspects between dragon beasts and true dragons.

The power of a true dragon’s breath seems greater.

Though Hephaestus has achieved enlightenment, and his strength is rapidly increasing lately, he has started too late to fully address some shortcomings.

Gauss glanced at Hephaestus.

He looks quite excited now.

Perhaps it’s because it’s rare to encounter other Five-Colored Dragons.

”That Black Dragon is yours.”

”No problem.”

Hephaestus flapped his wings and leapt towards the Black Dragon.

Indeed, at present, the breath power of the Black Dragon is stronger than that of Hephaestus, but the outcome of battle is not solely determined by breath. Hephaestus’s physical prowess is clearly superior to the Black Dragon.

Physical talent is equally vital to giant dragons, representing more formidable close-combat capability, faster flight speed, tougher hide, and enhanced recovery ability.

Besides breath, magic, and other skills, a substantial portion of battles between giant dragons derives from their physical combat.

A huge physique is an advantage but also a disadvantage. Especially in battles between two titans, melee combat is a critical element.

Hephaestus’s golden eyes remained fixed on the Black Dragon flapping its wings in the distance, as if a fierce flame was burning in their depths.

His eyes were filled with a ”desire for battle.”

Among the Five-Colored Dragons, if a combat enthusiast were to be chosen, the Red Dragon would undoubtedly take the crown.

They fear no violence, only fear that violence isn’t violent enough.

Gauss’s previous enemies had been goblins, Kobolds, Mushroom People — opponents akin to ants — so it was hard for him to kindle a desire for battle most of the time.

Yet this time, the enemies are different.

These are genuine true dragons.

Even having achieved enlightenment now, the disgrace of once being a dragon beast continues to entangle Hephaestus’s heart.
