I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

He was very familiar with this door.

”In that case, I won’t disturb you, Chairman, and I’ll take my leave.”

”Take care.”

Matthias Monroe stood up, watching Gauss’s figure walk out through the door. It was only after a long time that he withdrew his gaze.

Then he sighed in the empty office.

Even now, he’s unsure if entrusting this commission to this naturally gifted Magic genius is favorable or not.

In his understanding, a genius of Gauss’s caliber is not limited by rank bottlenecks. As long as he doesn’t die, he’ll inevitably advance steadily to Legendary status.

The only difference is the timing.

He could be completely removed from the warfront and transferred to the much safer Royal Capital of Carlos Kingdom, or even the Imperial Capital Oridian.

”Honorable Sage, what exactly are you thinking?”

He murmured softly, with confusion in his voice.

Is it possible that the situation has deteriorated to the point where there’s no time for talents to grow methodically? It must accelerate this process through external stimuli?

Based on the intelligence he possesses, he cannot comprehend the deeper intentions from above.

Moreover, in the eyes of others, he is an esteemed top-tier Extraordinary Strong Person, but even he can only be a piece executing tasks when confronting epic and Legendary ranked strong people.

In this world, the more people know important intelligence, the greater the risk of exposure. Behind it is a power that transcends the five senses and involves causality.

Therefore, the more crucial the intelligence and the broader the plan it involves, the less known it is. Sometimes not only the executor but even the planner itself is unaware, and deep memories can be completely erased through means.

Switching back, Gauss who walked out of the Adventurer’s Guild saw his companions at the entrance.

The others had mostly left, and only his companions waited here because he was delayed.

”Gauss, what did the chairman want from you?”

Aaliyah asked curiously in a low voice.

Not just her, others also looked over.

”Let’s talk after we return.”

Seeing Gauss’s reaction, Aaliyah knew that Gauss’s private meeting with the chairman involved something significant. After all, if it were a trivial matter, Gauss might have mentioned it right away.

So she and the others just nodded without pressing further.

”Then let’s head back first.”

They boarded the carriage arranged by the Guild and returned to their dwelling.

Ivan soon took his leave first, as he needed to arrange specific procurement tasks and stockpile some necessary supplies. Once war breaks out, the prices of many materials and resources would rise.

Other members followed Gauss into the room.

”Chairman Matthias Monroe wants to commission me with an extremely important task.” He adjusted his wording in his heart, then mimicked Eden’s ability, using Spiritual Power to achieve a ”secret voice transmission.”

Suddenly hearing a voice appearing in their minds, several of them were surprised, but quickly realized.

”You don’t need to speak, just silently recite in your mind, and I’ll be able to hear your voices.”

Before his teammates could respond, Gauss’s voice reappeared.

Although this ability requires some preparation time, its confidentiality level is better than that of spells, as if he pulled them into a private team voice chat.

”I understand.”

”Received.”

”Lord Gauss, I love you!”

”That’s amazing.”

”...”

Gauss simultaneously sensed several voices.

”Albena, please don’t think about irrelevant topics.”

In reality, Albena, upon hearing the voice in her mind, quickly covered her mouth.

”Okay.”

Feeling this magical experience, she hurriedly restrained herself from thinking about other things.

However, thought is a peculiar thing. The more you try not to think, the more those tangled complex thoughts will sprout like weeds wildly.

Many strange fantasies that usually only appear in her dreams emerged in her mind at this moment.

Soon, her face flushed red as she cautiously glanced up in Gauss’s direction.

Just now, her team leader was in such a sorry state in her Spiritual World, and if he knew, he’d surely be angry.

Fortunately, as she anxiously observed, Gauss remained unaffected, even casting her a puzzled look.

This guy seems to be thinking about some odd things again.

”Something wrong?”

”No, Lord Gauss, please continue.”

Actually, she was just overthinking.

The essence of Gauss’s spiritual link communication is not mind-reading.

Why did he emphasize silently reciting words in the mind? Because only this way of enhancing mental thoughts can be intercepted by him.

As for other complex thoughts in others’ brains during the same time, he couldn’t know them.

After a brief interlude, they returned to the main issue.

After Gauss informed them that the commission was extremely confidential and inconvenient to disclose too much,

Aaliyah and the others wondered if they could bring others along.

However, after Gauss hinted at the potential danger and that having more people could likely increase the risk of the operation, the group fell into silence.

”Gauss, can I help you?” Ying asked curiously.

Her stealth ability is the best in the whole team, and so far, Gauss hasn’t encountered anyone superior to her in this regard.

Therefore, on the way back, he did consider whether to bring Ying.

But ultimately, he dismissed the thought, deciding that if he were to choose to accept the commission, he would act alone.

Although Ying’s Talent Ability is strong, it is equally limited by energy. Bringing someone along for a stealth mission would increase the burden, and the distance for this commission is evidently not short.
