I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

It can be said that among the always weak Slime creature clan, it is also an outstanding genius.

Noticing Gauss’s gaze, that gigantic Slime slowly rolled backward, silently shielding several Slime guards behind it.

”Poof!”

Suddenly, several Slimes in front of it exploded without any struggle, instantly corroding the originally solid ground into a depression of twenty to thirty centimeters.

The stronger the Slime, the higher the corrosive strength of its bodily fluid.

Besides, as Slimes level up, they gradually start to master the use of Magic Power.

However, most are similar to water-type and poison-type magic.

Subsequently, those slender threads of water in the air bypassed the mud puddle, targeting the strongest Slime leader.

Maybe it was pushed to its limit, the Slime leader finally stopped retreating, its soft body began rapidly transforming, extending several mucus tentacles that shook madly in the air.

At the tips of the tentacles, a light green poisonous mist sprayed from its small open mouth, spreading towards the surroundings.

After observing its attack methods, Gauss, who had no further curiosity, decisively summoned Bigby’s Hand.

”Vajra Palm!”

As Gauss’s thoughts moved, the silver light on the surface of the giant palm suddenly intensified.

The next moment, the now harder giant palm smashed down at a speed entirely inconsistent with its enormous size.

Under the palm, the air seemed to be instantly sucked away.

”Boom!!”

The entire cave faintly shook twice.

Then the air finally calmed down.

Bigby’s Hand lifted, and the Slime had turned into a puddle of mud, dead beyond dead.

Although it seemed quite an achievement for a Slime to reach such strength, Gauss wouldn’t lend a sympathetic hand.

Slimes aren’t a friendly species.

They don’t actively attack human settlements only because their information-gathering abilities are lacking, but if they encounter humans in the wild, they won’t miss out on this nourishing target.

It’s said that research has found that the path for Slimes to become stronger is to gradually enhance their affinity with Magic Power and Intelligence, and killing other intelligent life forms is considered a shortcut for them.

Silently, he stored the shattered Slime core into the Storage Pouch.

Gauss glanced at other parts of the cave; the other Slimes had also been swiftly dealt with by members of the Red Dragon Team.

”Let’s take a break.”

Gauss instructed others to clear the cave surroundings.

If nothing unexpected happens, this will be the base camp for other future adventurers on the fifth floor.

He then took out the crystal ball map.

The crystal ball map currently only holds the conditions of the first five floors, which is the last floor he can grasp clear intelligence about.

And on the map, a monster symbol is clearly marked.

If it’s correct, the place it’s located should be, like the Demon Frog Lord on the fourth floor, the territory of this floor’s Lord.

And it’s still quite a distance from his current location.

Since Gauss and the others are the first visitors to the Maze’s fifth floor, Gauss is not as eager to set out as he was on the fourth floor.

No adventurer can manage to find that Lord ahead of them.

Moreover, he also needs to gather some information about the fifth floor in advance.

After confirming the cave’s safety, he called Ying, and the two left this hundred-meter-wide cave.

After leaving the cave, the surrounding environment remained damp and dark.

Moss and puddles were everywhere in sight.

Frogs, mosquitoes, and insects active in the seams of various vegetation were seen everywhere.

Gauss decisively raised his right hand.

The Weaver’s Seal on the back of his right hand glowed.

It was a perfect opportunity to test the effect of the Talent Weaver’s Seal.

Soon, with the help of the Weaver’s Seal, he seemed to link into a grand and scattered consciousness network.

Countless large and small nodes flickered in his mental perception.

”Welcome, Master!”

”Welcome!”

The upgraded effect of the Weaver’s Seal indeed differs greatly before.

Previously, he could also listen to the insect sounds, but those were chaotic murmurs that annoyed him.

But now, under his Talent’s control, insects that originally had no independent consciousness could also emit clear sounds.

Of course, the insects didn’t change, but the Talent’s ability enhanced, allowing him to control or assist them during ”communication”.

Henceforth, he and his companions would no longer be bothered by mosquitoes or poisonous insects.

Moreover, facing some independent-consciousness insect demons, he could use the voice of the Weaver’s Seal to interfere with their judgment.

Soon, through communication with the insects, Gauss also learned which kind of demons were most abundant on this floor.

Different from the fourth floor, the fifth-floor maze has two largest monster clans.

One is the Slime tribe Gauss just encountered after leaving the exit.

The damp environment of the fifth-floor maze is exceptionally suitable for the proliferation of the Slime clan. This relatively weak combat power low-level demon species can proliferate for only one reason: the powerful reproductive capability.

Like the goblins, when you discover traces of a single Slime, it means there’s already a large group active nearby.

The other one is the Mushroom People.

These are also naturally inclined to inhabit the dark underground creatures.

In the insect’s voices, Gauss even sensed a kind of fear.

The threat they posed is stronger compared to Slimes.

Gauss gathered intelligence, silently reciting the Mushroom People’s details.

In the normal world outside the maze, Mushroom People tribes also exist, but ordinary people can hardly see their traces.

Even adventurers find it difficult to spot this species.

Gauss similarly encountered these Mushroom People once a long time ago, during a dungeon exploration, and felt envy for their powerful regenerative abilities due to their Talent at that time.

Mushroom People engage in meditation exchange via collective consciousness.

Hence, once exposed before a Mushroom Person, the information rapidly transmits through collective consciousness and spreads through the entire tribe.

Thus, although these demons are not commonly seen, they aren’t to be trifled with.

Besides possessing strong regenerative abilities and moderately good combat capabilities, the Mushroom King can also produce living spores, reviving other creatures and transforming them into Spore Slaves.

These Spore Slaves retain most of their prior strengths, obedient to Mushroom People.

Therefore, when battling a Mushroom Person tribe, one has to face not only the Mushroom People themselves but various Spore Slaves with differing abilities.

Gauss gathered the intelligence, then had Ying use Talent Ability to quickly scout around the area.

The number of wildlife on the fifth floor exceeded that of the fourth floor.

Additionally, Gauss found a situation that surprised him.

That is, he saw a large number of domesticated Slimes.

Some were found in caves like the one Gauss had just left, or in large sunken pits.

Numerous spherical Slimes were rapidly squirming within.

It also means that the information from the insects had a slight error.

That is, Slimes in terms of numbers might indeed share equal standing as a tribe with Mushroom People, only that they are domesticated.

Clearly, they wouldn’t voluntarily enter the enclosed cages.

Apart from them, the only ones with such capability are those smarter Mushroom People.

Are they breeding Slimes as reserve food?

Gauss couldn’t help feeling curious.

Though he also knew that among demons
