I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Perhaps this time the proximity made the timing more appropriate.

He clearly felt that he had struck a soft, bouncy object.

”Poof!”

The flexible form of the opponent instinctively absorbed the impact.

Gauss seemed to have whipped a tough jelly-like substance, causing the opponent to fly backward with the strong kinetic energy he released.

”Whoosh!”

A blue orb dragged into a blue afterimage in the air.

”Boom!”

The blue afterimage slammed straight into the distant rock wall.

The blue slime finally revealed its shape, suddenly transitioning from extreme motion to stillness, it landed steadily on the rock wall, maintaining its soft spherical form without any changes. This created an extremely discordant and unreasonable feeling, as if defying people’s inherent physical understanding.

Behind it, the rock wall cracked into a spider web pattern spreading over a dozen meters.

Clearly, during the brief collision, the Slime Lord perfectly transferred the impact energy received to the environment behind.

Gauss’s eyes couldn’t help but flash a glint of interest.

Honestly, it had been a while since he encountered such a ”strong” opponent.

The strength here was not merely leading in terms of level or destructive power, but a kind of mechanism superiority.

He even felt an extremely familiar sensation from the unimpressive slime, as if seeing himself.

In other words, that slime might be a mechanism freak like him.

However, their mechanisms and talents differed slightly.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel a slight surge of enthusiasm.

Even though he had done it intentionally, he indeed hadn’t met a decent opponent in a long time.

Like the exotic centaur from Black Water Town, it was clearly not among them. Its strength was far superior to his at the time, and couldn’t be considered a rival. That time, if a direct battle erupted, it was likely to be a one-sided outcome.

And now, this Slime Lord posed a ”moderate difficulty” overall.

Gauss’s thoughts raced like electricity.

The golden Dragon Eyes reflected the shape of the blue slime, and he vaguely seemed to have guessed the principle behind the opponent’s mysterious and traceless movement.

Although it appeared similar to his Any Door-style Spatial Magic, an adventurer unfamiliar with spatial magic would most likely misjudge it, but Gauss could detect the vastly different underlying principle.

It’s important to know that any spatial magic and effects will cause ripples of spatial waves.

Take his Any Door, or the passages between different levels in the maze, when entering or exiting, one can feel a peculiar sensation. He felt that same sensation when using the iron piece to teleport to the special level with the Insect Man statue.

Gauss, extremely sensitive to these methods, would definitely detect some spatial fluctuation if the opponent truly used spatial magic.

Then, considering the blue slime’s entrance, that eerie feeling of complete integration into the environment.

Through these encounters, Gauss realized part of the slime’s abilities.

To be precise, the Slime Lord didn’t integrate into the environment, but rather into the ubiquitous natural magic in the air.

One could vaguely say its form was too pure, almost entirely composed of magic power, allowing it to form a power transformation or elementalization ability under the cover of natural magic.

In this state, Gauss couldn’t perceive it and could only observe its external shape with his eyes.

Regarding movement, the Slime Lord initiated elementalization, merging into the natural magic, and when needing to attack, it would form a tangible shape, constantly switching between these states, even slyer than Ying’s talent ability.

Ying’s ability leaves shadows as a medium, tracing its presence. Attacking the shadows forces her to suffer damage, making her lift the stealth state.

But the opponent could completely dissolve into natural magic, truly becoming formless.

In that state, could one still attack the opponent?

If not, wouldn’t that naturally place it in an invincible position?

Of course, this thought existed in Gauss’s mind for a fleeting moment.

At least in his current understanding, invincibility is unlikely, or rather, he shouldn’t encounter it at this stage.

It should have its own shortcomings.

Time? Frequency? Energy expenditure? Delay in transformation?

Despite its strength, there must be some hidden flaw.

Like when it was so close to him, being struck by the Vampiric Touch and whipped away, possibly indicating it couldn’t react in time or exceeded the minimum time required for the transformation.

Nevertheless, this slime’s combat instincts are quite remarkable.

In just an instant, it adjusted its posture and utilized its exceedingly supple body feature to completely transfer the attack, causing minimal harm.

From afar, the members of the Red Dragon Team, already withdrawn at a distance, observed this scene in shock.

They hadn’t expected the unimpressive, petite slime to possess combat strength far beyond its appearance.
