I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Gauss was completely baffled by this, not understanding its strange behavior, but his actions did not slow down in the slightest.

The honed combat instincts flowed through his veins like blood.

What was strange about it? He would wait until he killed this Slime to say more. He didn’t believe he couldn’t do it.

The Slime before him did have some peculiarities, but there existed an ironclad law: as long as it is a creature, it will die if killed.

This Slime would die, just like the countless monsters that had perished at his hands before.

Gauss’s slender fingers held the white jade Magic Wand horizontally in front of him, his Magic Robe fluttering vigorously, a sign of the lake-like Magic Power surging within him.

A lion uses all its strength to hunt a rabbit.

Though confident in his own strength, he would still give his all out of caution.

He gripped his Magic Wand, stepping onto the manipulated Bigby’s Hand, swiftly flying toward the direction of the Slime Eden’s main body.

Its stealth characteristics seemed to have greatly weakened because Gauss killed its clone.

This Slime named Eden was indeed very different from all the Slimes he had encountered; its aura was very pure, lacking much of the demon’s violent and irritable atmosphere.

And this was clearly not some passive characteristic inherent to lord demons, as the Demon Frog Lord on the previous level didn’t exhibit similar traits.

”Bigby’s Hand! Vajra Palm!”

After getting slightly closer, Gauss leapt from Bigby’s Hand.

He then controlled the giant palm, large enough to easily cover most normal demons, to go towards the Slime, turning his hand to pound down.

The Slime, seemingly sensing that avoidance was impossible, abruptly opened its split mouth wide as if it were devouring magic, swallowing the massive surrounding magic power into its body in one go.

The Slime, which originally looked feeble in momentum, received a boost as if given a new lease on life.

Under the influence of magic power, its originally small body instantly swelled to several meters in size, and simultaneously, its jelly-like soft body shot out several thick tentacles akin to a giant serpent emerging from its hole.

”Whish!”

The tentacles emitted sonic booms in the air, rushing upwards towards Bigby’s Hand.

The tips of the seemingly soft but actually tough tentacles suddenly illuminated with a dazzling sharp light, as if empowered before approaching Bigby’s Hand.

”Boom boom boom!”

The humanoid palm and the demon’s tentacles collided in mid-air.

The white air currents stirred up by the collision surged out like a tsunami, crushing outwards, nearly instantly uprooting the trees and plants along the way. In this chaotic terrain of flying sand and rocks, ordinary adventurers and demons would probably end up crushed to pieces.

This is the so-called ”When gods fight, it’s the mortals who suffer.”

”It’s gotten stronger.”

Gauss felt that after voraciously swallowing a large amount of natural magic, the aura on the Slime named Eden had risen significantly.

Only it wasn’t clear how long this abnormal strengthened state could last.

But it surely came with a certain price, otherwise it would have used it at the beginning.

Analyzing it now, Eden’s strength largely lies in extraordinary elemental stealth, clones, and its high degree of magic power control.

The first two have already been deciphered by him, but the third is its true root of power.

”Man, your kill intent is too strong, too obvious.”

As the dust settled, Slime Eden had already taken advantage of the gap created by the opposing forces to swiftly leave the range of Bigby’s Hand.

It even had the leisure to critique Gauss’s wave of attack.

Gauss raised an eyebrow.

Earlier, beyond using Bigby’s Hand, he had also very quickly and covertly cast Water Manipulation while flying in the air.

The flowing stream like a slithering snake borrowed the grandeur of the Bigby’s Hand above, covertly approaching the Slime on the ground, but unexpectedly, this seemingly undetectable kill move was foreseen by the Slime.

One must know that multitasking has always been Gauss’s forte, given his exceptional Intelligence Attribute.

Concentrating for a moment, he quickly engaged in self-reflection.

Everything is a teacher; even enemies are the best teachers.

And despite not knowing the reason, Slime Eden apparently liked to play the role of a teacher.

In terms of technique, Gauss was quite sure that most extraordinary Casters couldn’t do better than him, so the problem should not lie on the ”skill” level.

Combining with what Slime Eden commented just now, it was because of the kill intent that his attack was detected ahead of time?

Truthfully, during battle, Gauss felt he stayed extremely calm and hadn’t entered a state of mindless killing.

Does he, who controls Spiritual Power so well, also emanate a significant kill intent from a demon’s perspective?

He didn’t think Eden was bluffing him.

Was it because he had killed too many demons?

Gauss must also admit one thing, he spent the majority of his adventuring time battling demons far weaker than himself.

In these circumstances, whether he restrained his kill intent or not was not important.

Low-level demons were unlikely able to predict his attack through his kill intent in advance; even if they were remarkably gifted to detect it, so what?

Being able to perceive it does not mean being able to adequately dodge it.

Therefore, he developed a habit of fighting with wide-open gestures, never deliberately restraining his kill intent.

This is undeniably a clear flaw when facing demons with similar strength.

His control over the spiritual aspect far surpasses that of most biological beings, evidently meeting the foundational conditions to perceive the flow of kill intent. Upon being made aware by Slime Eden, he swiftly captured a mental level of intent.
