I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

This is a half-transparent, jelly-like blue spherical creature.

Its surface is smooth, reflecting a spectrum of colorful lights.

A pair of harmless-looking black little eyes stared blankly at Gauss.

Seeing the appearance of the slime, Gauss couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

Apart from the completely different appearance from ordinary slimes, it gave Gauss a very special feeling.

To be precise, in Gauss’s perception, it seemed to completely blend into the air; if not for seeing its existence with the naked eye, it was more like a cluster of non-existent air.

This discovery made Gauss a bit cautious.

He rarely encountered a creature so lacking in ”sense of threat.”

Creatures like the lowest goblins and slimes, even though they could not possibly cause Gauss any harm now, Gauss could still sense a kind of ”malice” from them.

This malice is unrelated to the strength of either side, it’s simply the instinctual repulsion within life at the perception level towards ”outsiders.”

But the creature in front of him had nothing, just a blankness.

This indicated that at least its ability in the area of concealment was extremely outstanding.

Moreover, Gauss could vaguely perceive that this slime’s intelligence far exceeded that of its kind.

Besides looking at Gauss, it also continuously scanned all the adventurers present, with a trace of human-like curiosity in its eyes.

But when its gaze passed over the fallen demon corpses on the ground, it did not show too much extra emotion, appearing quite indifferent to the death of its companions.

This was contrary to Gauss’s original guess.

He originally thought that since this demon arrived so swiftly, it must be a protective, aggressive leader.

But now it seemed, his feeling was that it was more driven by a strong curiosity.

As if during a long life, it suddenly discovered a group of abnormal creatures intruding on its territory, neither friendly nor hostile, just simply feeling novel.

The way it looked at these human adventurers was like seeing cats and dogs.

A few high-level Mushroom People beside the blue slime began to communicate, intangible streams of information spreading towards the slime as if bullied children were complaining to their parents who arrived late, trying to have it step up for them.

After quickly receiving the information, the look of interest in the blue slime’s eyes as it looked towards Gauss became even more intense.

The next moment, under Gauss’s always vigilant gaze, the cute little slime suddenly disappeared without a trace.

The moment it vanished, Gauss was more aware of the terrifying aspect of its ability to completely blend its aura into the environment.

Gauss enhanced his mental awareness to the fullest, leaving no clue in the surroundings escaping his perception.

Where could it be going?

At the same time, his pupils, coated with a subtle golden glow, quickly locked onto all directions.

Mental perception network, vision, hearing, smell, the skin’s sense of air flow, all senses were elevated to the strongest level at the same time.

Whether it be other numerous demons or members of the Red Dragon Team, they all shunned his area unanimously.

Suddenly, the corner of Gauss’s eye glanced towards a certain spot beside him.

”Found you!”

He controlled Bigby’s silver hand to grab at the barely unnatural elements in the air.

”Boom!”

The ”Capture Palm” movement of Bigby’s hand gripped with a huge explosive sound of air.

”Puchi! Puchi!”

Dozens of colorful spikes shot out like branched tree limbs from the palm center, piercing fiercely in all directions, perforating the surface of Bigby’s hand.

Fortunately, Bigby’s hand was merely a magic power construct, although Gauss controlled it as effortlessly as his arm, it was not a real body, so it did not share pain senses.

Gauss’s eyes sharpened.

This was the first time that since he mastered Bigby’s hand, it had been breached by an attack.

Even though Bigby’s hand was more focused on offense rather than defense, having a foundation of a 5th-tier spell made it still not something ordinary means could easily break through.

The destructive power of that piercing attack just now was quite terrifying.

More crucially, he realized that Bigby’s hand’s ”Capture Palm” didn’t seize any object inside.

It was like squeezing a mass of magic power, then the magic power instinctively exploded, triggering a magical piercing attack.

Where did the slime go?

Upon opening Bigby’s hand, the ”wounds” which were pierced were rapidly healing, but as expected, there was no sign of the special slime within the palm.

To be honest, it was Gauss’s first encounter with such an elusive opponent.

Past enemies, even if strong, at least had their movements barely discernible, but this slime slipped away like a ghost.

Did it master some kind of spatial magic?

Gauss couldn’t help but speculate internally, yet he hadn’t sensed any traces of spatial fluctuation.

Clearly, as a floor lord, the Slime Lord of the 5th-floor maze seemed to be much stronger than the Demon Frog Lord of the 4th floor. Just this ability to vanish and appear without a trace far surpassed that frog, which appeared like a small mountain, by unknown multiples.

”Shoo!”

Suddenly, Gauss sensed a whoosh of wind.

The next moment, above his head, a figure instantly formed.

Gauss caught a glimpse of a blue light in the corner of his eye.

”Vampiric Touch!”

He immediately activated a close-range spell, swinging the black-red tentacles entwining his arms like octopus arms towards the anomaly overhead.
