I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

During this time, they had come to a better understanding of their leader’s strength. The fact that the blue Slime could exchange a few blows with the leader and did not appear to fall into a noticeable disadvantage from their perspective already showed its terrifying power.

Thinking of this, they couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, it was not them facing such a terrifying monster; otherwise, they would likely just be crushed to death as meaningless cannon fodder.

”Prepare to engage!”

Albena’s deep voice rang out at the right moment.

Around them, other monsters were silently closing in as well.

Not only Gauss, they also had to fight.

On Gauss’s side, what seemed like a long contemplation actually took only a moment.

As he gained insight into some of the Slime’s intelligence, a bit more confidence appeared in his eyes.

Sometimes, an enemy without intelligence can be more dangerous than a visibly powerful enemy; with the latter, most people know to run if they can’t win, but with the former, whether realizing it or not, fleeing or fighting always feels like a layer of mystery veiled in front, making it hard to decide.

How to fight if you must fight? How to flee if you must run?

With enough intelligence, an adventurer can make relatively wise and reasonable decisions.

This is the importance of intelligence in battle.

”Magic Missile!”

Gauss waved the front end of his White Magic Wand forward, unleashing a barrage of blue missiles without regard for the cost.

Numerous missiles poured like a torrential rain toward the Slime Lord’s crack-filled cliffside.

The next moment, in Gauss’s intently focused eyes, that small light blue body suddenly vanished again.

”Boom!” ”Boom!” ”Boom!”

Numerous missiles engulfed the cliffside.

In an instant, the already cracked cliffside couldn’t withstand the pressure and collapsed in a chain reaction.

Hundreds of rocks continuously fell to the ground, stirring up dust that obscured the view.

Yet, neither Gauss nor the Slime was affected by ordinary dust as targets.

Gauss, whose attack missed, did not show much disappointment; instead, a slight smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

”As expected...”

He felt that as the numerous Magic Missiles triggered a chain explosion, the extensive strong Magic Effect caused a disturbance in the surrounding Natural Magic.

And the Slime, immersed in this, naturally could not remain unaffected amidst such environmental disturbances.

Hence, although it had been well-concealed, Gauss keenly captured its traces.

However, upon realizing its exposure, it quickly fled within a very short time, leaving that relatively chaotic magic area.

After the transformation time, Gauss had once again discovered another shortcoming of it.

Such is battle; no matter how mysterious an enemy appears, once the two sides begin to engage, there’s always a way to gather enough useful intelligence from its actions, peeling it layer by layer like an onion.

”Human.”

”You are interesting.”

A tender, cool voice, or rather a spiritual message, came to Gauss’s ear.

He naturally knew where the message came from.

As a retort, he also spread out a message with pervasive spiritual power.

”Hello, Slime.”

”I am Eden Graham Lidia Pollo Sutton Akuja Jay...”

It began earnestly listing a long string of its own names, continuing for dozens or even hundreds of syllables.
