Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 38: NZNT: Chapter 38

”HAHAHAHAHA!! You’re a fool for challenging me! Die! HAHAHAHA!!!”

Seeing that Yusuke hadn’t dodged his attack, Shukaku, confident in the power of his Rasengan, burst into a fit of laughter.

Amidst the billowing yellow sand kicked up by the Rasengan’s powerful impact, Yusuke created four Fire Release clones, each holding a scroll, and charged towards the four directions surrounding Shukaku’s location.

The swirling sand gradually settled, and Shukaku realized that not only had his opponent not been defeated, but he had also created four more clones. It seemed like they were preparing to surround him.

Yusuke’s four Fire Release clones weren’t meant to gang up on Shukaku. They were to prevent Shukaku from escaping. He was going to use them to cast a jutsu barrier.

The four clones unfolded the scrolls in their hands and placed them on the sand. They quickly formed hand seals. After completing the hand seals, they pressed their right hands on the blank space in the center of the scrolls.

”Barrier: Four Red Yang Formation!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Red Yang barrier walls extended from the scrolls where the four Fire Release clones were standing. The barrier walls extended from both sides of the four points, connecting to form a cubic barrier space that surrounded Yusuke and Shukaku.

In the original story, Orochimaru had used this barrier jutsu, the Four Red Yang Formation, to trap the Third Hokage. The upgraded version of the Four Red Yang Formation, the Four Scarlet Sun Formation, could even trap the Ten-Tails. This showed that this series of barrier jutsu was very reliable.

Actually, for Yusuke, besides the Four Red Yang Formation, there was another divine technique in Ryujin Jakka to surround an enemy — ”Fire Annihilation City.”

But with Yusuke’s current abilities, if he used a powerful technique like Fire Annihilation City, his own chakra and the Nine-Tailed Fox’s Yin Release chakra in the cursed seal would be almost completely drained.

Even if he used this technique to trap Shukaku, Yusuke wouldn’t have the strength to subdue and seal it, so he chose the Four Red Yang Formation, which didn’t consume much chakra and was very effective.

When Shukaku saw that he was trapped by Yusuke’s barrier, he immediately recalled his miserable life as a tanuki sealed inside a jinchūriki. His emotions instantly went crazy.

”AAAAAH!!!”

Shukaku roared a few times. A Tailed Beast Ball, with power far exceeding the Rasengan, slowly formed in his mouth.

The Tailed Beast Ball was a unique attack-type energy wave that Tailed Beasts condensed by combining yin and yang chakra in a 2:8 ratio. Yusuke’s Fire Release clones couldn’t be immune to this attack, which was mixed with Yin Release chakra.

In this not-so-large barrier, the powerful Tailed Beast Ball was almost impossible to dodge. Yusuke could only try to defend with jutsu.

Yusuke retreated to the corner of the barrier. He quickly formed hand seals.

”Flame Release: Single Red Yang Formation.”

Yusuke created a Red Yang Barrier in front of him, forming a closed space with the Red Yang Barriers on both sides behind him, protecting himself inside.

”Die!!!”

The Tailed Beast Ball was fully formed and shot out of Shukaku’s mouth. But Shukaku didn’t aim the Tailed Beast Ball at Yusuke. Instead, he bombarded the barrier wall of the Four Red Yang Formation, attempting to break it first.

When the Tailed Beast Ball hit the barrier wall of the Four Red Yang Formation, a violent shock wave spread throughout the barrier.

However, because the Four Red Yang Formation barrier was very stable, the Tailed Beast Ball that Shukaku had shot out wasn’t powerful enough to break it. This caused the shock wave from the Tailed Beast Ball’s explosion inside the barrier to be unable to spread outwards horizontally. It could only release energy vertically!

Nearly a hundred-meter-tall dust cloud instantly rose inside the barrier. The ground inside the barrier was also deeply indented compared to the ground outside.

”The Tailed Beast Ball is truly a powerful weapon. Its power is truly extraordinary!” Yusuke thought to himself, secretly admiring the destructive effect of Shukaku’s Tailed Beast Ball.

At this time, Yusuke also felt the ground shake. If he hadn’t used the Red Yang Barrier to seal himself off, with his normal ninja physique, he would definitely have been shattered by this powerful shock wave.

After the shock wave from the Tailed Beast Ball ended, Yusuke canceled the Single Red Yang Formation that was protecting him. At the same time, he released Ryujin Jakka and slowly walked towards Shukaku’s location.

The dust cloud slowly dissipated. Shukaku discovered that his Tailed Beast Ball not only hadn’t broken through the Red Yang barrier, but his opponent was also completely unscathed. This made Shukaku, who was covered in dust from the Tailed Beast Ball’s shock wave, feel a little panicked.

He knew that there were many ninjas in this world whose power surpassed that of the Tailed Beasts. If he fell into their hands, he would most likely be sealed inside a jinchūriki and completely lose his freedom.

For Shukaku, who had finally escaped, being sealed inside a jinchūriki was absolutely unacceptable!

”Wind Release: Sand Scatter Shot!”

Shukaku opened his mouth and launched another large-scale ninjutsu attack at Yusuke. Countless sand bullets, like fine rain, shot out of Shukaku’s mouth and flew quickly towards Yusuke.

These sand bullets were very dense, making it impossible to dodge. They also had a very high penetration power. If they hit a person, they would immediately pierce through the body, leaving a fist-sized hole.

Looking at the rain of sand bullets coming towards him, Yusuke raised his hand and swung his sword, slashing a long blade of fire in front of him to block all the sand bullets.

The high temperature of the flames burned all the sand bullets to ashes, leaving only wisps of black smoke in the air.

At this time, Yusuke had released the ”Two Symbol Seal.” Black inscriptions covered his entire body, and Yin Release chakra continuously flowed into his body.

After blocking Shukaku’s Sand Scatter Shot attack, Yusuke sheathed his sword and assumed a stance for a swordsmanship technique.

Using the Reiatsu simulated by Yin Release chakra, Ryujin Jakka instantly unsheathed, slashing towards Shukaku’s head at an incredible speed.

However, to Yusuke’s surprise, Shukaku, although huge, was very agile. It jumped high into the air and dodged Yusuke’s slash in time.

After jumping high into the air, Shukaku immediately patted his belly with his left and right arms alternately, continuously shooting out five or six Wind Release Rasengan from his mouth towards Yusuke.

But the Rasengan posed no threat to Yusuke. He used his intangible Fire Release clone technique to directly avoid all damage.

After a few rounds of exchanges, Shukaku also realized that his opponent was very difficult to deal with. He had used all his attack methods, but he still couldn’t injure him.

”Who are you, anyway? Why are you bothering me?”

Shukaku, who had forcibly suppressed his anger and rage, asked Yusuke with a wary expression.

”Of course, it’s for your power.”

”Your attack methods are too simplistic. You can’t hurt me at all. If you could just let me seal you, you could save yourself some pain.”

Looking at the giant tanuki in front of him, Yusuke said slowly.

Hearing Yusuke’s words, Shukaku’s barely suppressed temper erupted again. He said angrily, ”Bullshit! Even if I can’t kill you, do you think you can seal me by yourself? You can forget about it!”

”Then let’s wait and see,” Yusuke said calmly. At the same time, he quickly drew Yin Release chakra from the cursed seal, continuously increasing Ryujin Jakka’s power.

After infusing it with a large amount of Yin Release chakra, Ryujin Jakka’s flames turned golden-red. A long flame trail trailed from the tip of the blade, forming a golden-red ring of fire behind Yusuke.

This was the same form that Yusuke had used when he fought Shisui. In this form, Yusuke could use some of Ryujin Jakka’s Shikai-related techniques.

Looking at Yusuke, who looked like a fire god had descended, Shukaku showed fear. He could sense that the golden-red flames were extremely hot and posed a great threat to him.

Although Tailed Beasts wouldn’t actually die under normal circumstances. Even if they were attacked fatally, as long as it wasn’t the power of the Rinne Sharingan, the Tailed Beast’s chakra would gather somewhere in the ninja world and reform into a Tailed Beast. The place where Shukaku would reappear was this Nara Desert beneath his feet.

But for the Tailed Beast, being killed by someone and then reforming wasn’t a pleasant process.

Seeing that his opponent was determined to seal him, Shukaku didn’t have anything to say. He condensed the Tailed Beast Ball again, preparing to bombard his opponent.

After the previous battle, Shukaku had also discovered that only his Tailed Beast Ball could cause his opponent some trouble.

To guard against his Tailed Beast Ball, his opponent hadn’t used the crow clones that seemed to have no physical form to dodge. Instead, he had created a barrier to block it. This showed that the Tailed Beast Ball could still injure him.

Looking at Shukaku, who was condensing the Tailed Beast Ball again, Yusuke didn’t plan to continue defending. Instead, he attacked defensively, taking the initiative.

With a flash of fire, Yusuke appeared beside Shukaku’s mouth, where he was condensing the Tailed Beast Ball.

With a slash of golden-red light, Shukaku was decapitated by Yusuke. The severed ends of his head and body were still burning with raging flames. The Tailed Beast Ball that was being condensed was immediately interrupted and dissipated into the air.

”AAAAAH!!!”

A piercing scream came from Shukaku’s severed head. Because Tailed Beasts weren’t normal creatures, but demons condensed from chakra, even if their heads were cut off or even dismembered, they wouldn’t die. As long as their chakra recondensed, they could immediately return to their original form.

At this time, Shukaku didn’t rush to reunite his head and body. Instead, he rolled around on the desert, trying to extinguish the flames that were burning like leeches on his body.

But he never expected that the golden-red flames on Yusuke’s Ryujin Jakka weren’t ordinary flames. When he rolled, not only did he not extinguish the flames at the severed ends of his head and body, but more parts of his body began to burn.

”Damn it!!”

Shukaku roared, and his body and head turned into sand filled with powerful chakra. They gradually disappeared into the sand. Then, Shukaku abandoned the parts that had already been burned and reformed into the shape of a tanuki.

But Yusuke noticed that the Shukaku that had reformed was slightly smaller than before. Of course, this decrease in size wasn’t permanent. As long as Shukaku was given time, his body would return to its original size.

”AH!!!”

After reforming, Shukaku roared angrily again, raising his giant arm, preparing to strike Yusuke hard. But when he saw the katana burning with raging flames in Yusuke’s hand and the golden-red ring of fire behind him, he stopped his raised arm in mid-air.

Looking at Shukaku, who had no more tricks up his sleeve, Yusuke didn’t plan to continue slowly grinding down his power. Instead, he decided to stop holding back his chakra and unleash his killing move to quickly subdue his opponent and then seal him.

After all, the Nara Desert was also within Sunagakure’s territory. If he dragged things out too long, it would be bad if Sunagakure’s ninjas discovered him.

He sheathed his sword. All the flames on Ryujin Jakka were hidden in the scabbard. Yusuke assumed a stance for a swordsmanship technique again.

But in Shukaku’s eyes, although Yusuke had hidden the flames, his aura seemed even stronger, as if he was preparing a powerful technique.

At this moment, as Yusuke and Shukaku faced each other, neither of them noticed that a pair of cold eyes were watching them from beneath the sand within the barrier.
