Naruto: Zanka No Tachi

Chapter 33: NZNT: Chapter 33

Hearing that Yusuke would be the one to choose first, all the genin present, except for Anko, who was keeping her head down, showed expectant expressions.

Yusuke noticed keenly that although Anko was keeping her head down, she would sneakily glance at him from time to time.

”Itachi.” Yusuke called out the first member of his team.

As Yusuke’s disciple, Itachi would undoubtedly have a spot.

Looking at the remaining ninjas, Yusuke started thinking.

He had already decided to choose Anko for his team. He also didn’t want to separate Moonlight Aoba and Kurenai Yūhi, and Mizuki just didn’t interest him.

”Kurenai Yūhi.”

When Yusuke finished calling out the second name, Anko’s shoulders involuntarily twitched.

In her heart, she hoped to be chosen for Yusuke’s team. Although she had acted like she didn’t get along with Yusuke when they had first met, she considered him one of her few friends.

”Why didn’t he choose me? Could it be that he doesn’t want to have anything to do with me because of Orochimaru-sama’s defection?”

Anko thought to herself, her small fists subconsciously clenching tightly.

”Anko.” ℴ

Just then, Yusuke called out Anko’s name.

Anko was still a child at this stage. Hearing that Yusuke had chosen her in the end, she immediately looked up at Yusuke. Her face couldn’t hide her happiness.

But when she looked up and saw Yusuke’s seemingly amused expression, she immediately guessed that he had chosen her last because he wanted to tease her. She angrily suppressed her happy expression.

After Yusuke finished choosing, the remaining three genin automatically joined Hazuki’s team.

After leaving the Hokage Tower, Yusuke took Itachi, Anko, and Kurenai Yūhi to the training ground, preparing to have everyone introduce themselves first.

This was an essential step when forming a new team. Although Yusuke was familiar with Itachi and Anko, with Kurenai Yūhi joining, they still needed to get to know each other better to facilitate the team’s future cooperation.

”I’ll be your guiding Jonin during the Chunin Exams. I know Itachi and Anko, but since Kurenai Yūhi is here, let’s all introduce ourselves.”

”Uchiha Yusuke, Jonin. I’m pretty good at ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu.”

Hearing Yusuke’s self-introduction, Itachi remained calm. Anko rolled her eyes, showing that she didn’t care. Kurenai Yūhi, however, showed a very admiring expression.

Yusuke turned to Kurenai and nodded with a smile.

But unexpectedly, Kurenai, who had been very admiring of him before, suddenly took two steps back as if she were startled. She also showed a slightly frightened expression.

”Uh...” Yusuke’s smile froze on his face.

”What’s going on? Am I scary when I smile?”

Kurenai Yūhi’s reaction was a blow to Yusuke, who was confident in his good looks. He couldn’t help but secretly question himself.

”Pfft...” Anko, who was standing nearby, couldn’t help but laugh when she saw Yusuke’s awkwardness. Then, she realized that this was inconsistent with the melancholic aura she had been maintaining recently. She quickly adjusted her expression and put on a serious face again.

”I’m Uchiha Itachi. I’m seven years old. I’m Yusuke-sensei’s disciple. I’m currently a genin. I can use ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu a little. Please give me your guidance in the future.” Itachi, very understanding, rescued his teacher and took the initiative to introduce himself.

”Mitarashi Anko, eleven years old, genin. I’m good at ninjutsu and taijutsu. I like mochi and red bean soup!” Anko introduced herself after Itachi, also mentioning her favorite foods.

Hearing that Anko also liked to eat mochi, Itachi subconsciously glanced at her.

After the three of them finished, they all looked at Kurenai Yūhi, who hadn’t introduced herself yet.

Seeing that all three of them were looking at her, Kurenai Yūhi suddenly turned purple. She was so scared that she sat down on the ground, and a tear rolled down her cheek.

Yusuke, Itachi, and Anko looked at each other, not knowing what was wrong with the girl.

”I-I’m sorry. M-My name is Kurenai Yūhi. I’m eleven years old. I’m pretty good at g-genjutsu.”

”A-And also, I’m a-afraid of s-strangers. I’m really sorry!”

At this time, Kurenai Yūhi tried to stand up. She stammered as she spoke, and she also bowed to the three of them to apologize.

Hearing Kurenai’s self-introduction, the three of them understood why she was behaving so strangely.

Yusuke shook his head helplessly. He hadn’t expected to choose a teammate with such a personality flaw.

Since she had such a major personality flaw, she was still chosen to represent Konoha in the Sunagakure Chunin Exams. This meant that she must be exceptionally skilled in genjutsu. This made Yusuke a little excited.

”This Chunin Exam is both an exam and a mission.”

”Since you’ve been chosen to join my team, you’re my students and also my subordinates during the Chunin Exams.”

”You must obey my orders 100%. Otherwise, I will punish you according to the situation!”

At this time, Yusuke looked at the three genin with a serious expression.

”Yes!”

Seeing Yusuke’s serious expression, all three of them answered solemnly.

Even Anko, who would normally tease Yusuke, didn’t dare to joke with him when he was serious.

Yusuke nodded in satisfaction. His expression softened, and he smiled, ”Okay, this isn’t part of the mission. You can relax.”

”We’ll be leaving for Sunagakure in two days. Before then, I’ll take a look at your current strength so I can give you some targeted guidance during this time.”

”Anko, Kurenai, you two are a team. You’ll fight Itachi. Let me see your combat ability,” Yusuke said to the three of them.

Yusuke was very confident in Itachi’s strength. After all, in the original story, Itachi was able to carry out the clan extermination mission at the age of thirteen. Although Obito had helped Itachi massacre the Uchiha clan, it still couldn’t deny that Itachi was very strong.

And now, with Yusuke’s guidance, Itachi’s strength was even better than in the original story. In Yusuke’s view, although Anko and Kurenai were much older than Itachi, they still wouldn’t be his match.

”You’re underestimating me! You watch. I can take down this little brat by myself!”

Anko was very dissatisfied with Yusuke’s underestimation. She didn’t believe that she, as a disciple of the Sannin, wouldn’t be able to handle a seven-year-old kid.

”Kurenai, don’t attack. Watch me!” Anko instructed Kurenai Yūhi, who was beside her.

”Okay. Be careful,” Kurenai Yūhi answered softly.

Hearing Anko’s words, Itachi remained calm, as if he didn’t care.

But Yusuke noticed that Itachi’s eyebrows twitched involuntarily. It was clear that Itachi wasn’t very happy with the term ”little brat.”

Itachi and Anko stood opposite each other, about ten meters apart. Yusuke announced the start of the duel.

”Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!”

As soon as Yusuke finished speaking, Anko struck first, using the Orochimaru-style jutsu she was best at.

Seven or eight light brown snakes extended from Anko’s sleeves, biting towards Itachi’s location.

Itachi remained calm in the face of these snakes, but Kurenai, who was watching from the sidelines, turned pale. Yusuke shook his head and sighed inwardly, wondering how such a delicate girl could survive in the cruel world of ninjas.

Itachi calmly jumped backwards and upwards, dodging Anko’s Hidden Shadow Snake Hands attack. At the same time, he quickly formed hand seals. His speed was almost as fast as his teacher, Yusuke.

Looking at Itachi’s hand seals, Yusuke nodded in satisfaction. Itachi had an extraordinary hand seal speed in the original story. Now, after Yusuke’s intensive training, he had already possessed this shocking hand seal ability.

”Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!”

He completed the hand seals almost instantly. Seven or eight chakra flames formed into missiles and flew densely towards Anko’s location.

Anko was also startled by Itachi’s counterattack speed. She immediately retracted her Hidden Shadow Snake Hands and dodged the oncoming fire missiles.

As Anko focused on dodging, Itachi had already jumped onto a nearby tree. His Sharingan activated, and he threw many kunai and shuriken towards the sky around Anko.

Anko also noticed Itachi’s actions, but she didn’t understand his purpose. These kunai and shuriken were far away from her, and they weren’t thrown with much force. Their speed was very slow. Even an ordinary person could dodge them, let alone a ninja.

Just as Anko had finished dodging all the fire missiles and was charging towards Itachi, Itachi threw out a large number of kunai again. But this time, the kunai that Itachi threw out were extremely fast. They arrived later but caught up to the kunai and shuriken that were still in the air.

The kunai and shuriken were hit by the new kunai that Itachi had thrown out. They miraculously changed their original flight paths and all surrounded Anko.

Anko hurriedly tried to break through and dodge, but the kunai and shuriken surrounding her were all wrapped with extremely thin threads, which entangled her body.

These threads were very thin. If you weren’t paying attention, you wouldn’t be able to see them. But they were very strong. Anko tried to break free with her strength, but it had no effect.

”No!” Anko was shocked. She immediately took out her kunai and tried to cut the threads that were entangling her.

But Itachi, who was on the tree, didn’t intend to give her that opportunity. He was holding the other end of the threads. He wrapped the threads around a thick branch, then jumped off the tree. Using the branch as a fulcrum, he quickly tightened the threads with his own weight, completely binding Anko and suspending her halfway up the branch.

”Damn it, let me down! Your methods are too despicable!”

Anko swayed in the air, shouting angrily. Her two legs, which could still move, kicked in the air in vain.

Seeing Itachi’s performance, Yusuke couldn’t help but admire his combat talent.

The entire battle lasted less than a minute. He had captured Anko, who was much older than him, cleanly and efficiently, without much effort.

”I’m really looking forward to seeing Itachi grow up. He’s on the right path this time. He’ll definitely reach an unimaginable height!”

Yusuke thought to himself, looking at his proud disciple with approval.

Kurenai Yūhi was also dumbfounded. She was clearly stunned by Itachi’s move. She couldn’t believe that kunai and shuriken could be used in this way.

Looking at Anko, who was still struggling on the branch, Itachi calmly left a message.

”Thank you for your guidance, Senpai. Also, Anko-senpai, if you like mochi, I recommend the three-colored mochi at the Yūda family’s shop!”
