I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 133: Chapter 101: This is Major Gossip

News of Li Yuan Farm’s hiring quickly spread throughout You City.

Zhao Han was attending a county reception banquet, mainly because a leader from Ming City was visiting and people of his rank were required to host and entertain.

The official reason was that he was there to provide guidance, but the truth was that he was just going through the motions.

Regardless, they had to ensure all the proper courtesies were observed.

This sort of thing happened many times a year.

During a break, Zhao Han got the news about Li Yuan Farm and immediately went to report to Liu County. ”County Head Liu, Li Yuan Farm is hiring! It’s a huge move—they’re recruiting 200 people at once!”

Liu County was clearly paying close attention to this, as it was one of the main reasons they had supported Li Yuan Farm in the first place.

Li Yuan Farm attracting tourists not only stimulates the economy, but its increased revenue also boosts tax income and, most importantly, creates jobs.

A quick calculation showed that Li Yuan Farm already had over 200 employees. Recruiting another 200-plus people would push their total workforce past the 400 mark.

A company with 400 employees might not be a big deal in a major city, but for a small county town, it was definitely a large enterprise.

Crucially, Li Yuan Farm’s recruitment drive for these 200 positions also specified that they would prioritize hiring people from You City, which was an excellent development.

Just then, Wang Yu hurried in.

The ’acting’ part of his title as Section Chief had recently been dropped, and he was full of energy and ambition.

Upon reaching the two leaders, he immediately reported, ”Gentlemen, I assume you’ve heard about Li Yuan Farm’s hiring?”

Zhao Han and Liu County both nodded.

Wang Yu immediately continued, ”Kailin Investment is also hiring, under the name Kailin Investment Farm. The only thing is, every one of their positions pays more than Li Yuan Farm’s. What’s more, they’re running an ad on the outdoor video screen over at Darunfa. Anyone passing by can see their advertisement. I had someone record it.”

As he spoke, he played a video and handed the device to them.

Zhao Han and Liu County watched the video, their brows quickly furrowing in concern.

Every single position advertised by Kailin Investment Farm offered a slightly higher salary than Li Yuan Farm.

”This is obviously targeting Li Yuan Farm,” Zhao Han said, seeing it instantly.

Liu County frowned. ”Targeting them is one thing; that’s just a normal business tactic. At the very least, their recruitment drive will create quite a few jobs, which is good. My fear is that they’ll lose the fight against Li Yuan Farm and just pack it all in. Then we’ll have a lot of newly unemployed people. It would be even worse if they both suffer heavy losses in the process!”

He let out a sigh as he finished speaking.

”It’s all because of the Secretary’s office...” Zhao Han started to complain but stopped abruptly, remembering that some things were better left unsaid. He shut his mouth, then let out a heavy sigh. ”Ah, the worst thing is people who don’t know the first thing about a situation but insist on meddling!” An uncomfortable silence fell over the room. No one picked up the topic.

After all, some topics were best understood privately; speaking them aloud was crossing a line.

...

「The next day.」

When Zhang Lin arrived at the farm’s office center on his scooter, he found a large crowd gathered outside. Judging by their clothes and distinct You City accents, he knew they were here to apply for jobs.

Having so many people waiting this early in the morning was a testament to Li Yuan Farm’s excellent reputation in You City.

As soon as Zhang Lin entered the office center, Lin Mengyao sought him out. ”President Zhang, way too many people showed up all at once. There’s no way I can handle this alone.”

She was asking for backup.

Zhang Lin saw that Fu Yao had arrived and gave her an order, ”Fu Yao, go find Senior Sister Lin and the others. For now, help Mengyao get this recruitment situation under control.”

”Okay, Uncle!” Fu Yao nodded immediately and left with Lin Mengyao.

Before long, the recruitment process at the office center was in full, bustling swing.

The office center sat on a ten-mu plot of land, so there were plenty of office areas. Since most of them were still empty, Lin Mengyao simply found a wide-open space, set up a few tables, and began the recruitment process.

After all, conditions were still limited; dedicated spaces like conference halls and multimedia rooms hadn’t been furnished yet.

Meanwhile, Zhang Lin was in his office making a call to his uncle, Zhang He.

Having hired around 200 more people, he naturally needed to get work uniforms ready for them.

They hadn’t designed new, custom uniforms yet, so for the time being, he could only ask his uncle to print the Li Yuan Farm logo on the old model to make do.

The call connected, and Zhang He’s voice came through. ”Lin, what’s up?”

Zhang Lin explained, ”Uncle, I need to trouble you again. I need another 200 sets of work uniforms.”

”Did you already run out of the last batch?” Zhang He asked in surprise.

”We just hired another 200 people!” Zhang Lin explained.

”Another 200 people!” Zhang He was obviously stunned. He never imagined his nephew’s farm would develop so fast. Just a short while ago, what was the state of the farm? He hadn’t been paying close attention recently, and now his nephew was hiring people in batches of 200. It felt like a whole different era.

Still, he was gratified that his nephew was doing so well. He quickly agreed, ”Alright, I understand. I’ll have them delivered this afternoon.”

Meanwhile, as the recruitment at Li Yuan Farm was in full swing, the hiring event over at Kailin Investment was proceeding with equal fervor.

Zhao Neng had arranged for the advertisement to run 24/7 on the outdoor video screen at Darunfa. Given the prime-time foot traffic the previous evening, there was no telling how many people had seen it.

Therefore, when Zhao Neng arrived at the office first thing in the morning, a large number of applicants had already gathered.

”President Zhao, a lot of people have come to apply!” his assistant reported at once. ”We’ve successfully established Kailin Investment Farm’s reputation. More importantly, your decision to offer higher wages was brilliant. Now, whenever people in You City discuss Li Yuan Farm’s recruitment, they always add that Kailin Investment Farm’s salaries are even better.”
