Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

「That evening.」

”Xiaoshu, dinner’s ready. Come and eat.”

”Oh, okay! Yu Bao, Shan Bao!”

”SHAA!” ”CHIRP!”

Today, Su Zhi’s family was having dinner in the neighborhood gazebo, so Wu Bao could eat with them too.

This was Wu Bao’s first time joining them for dinner. He was so excited he bounced up and down like a two-hundred-pound child.

”Come on, a toast! To Xiaoshu for getting selected for the university team competition again, and for stepping onto a new path of showing off... ah, no, a new path of cultivation. Cheers!”

”CLINK CLINK CLINK—”

After the crisp sound of clinking glasses, the family dug in. Yu Bao and Shan Bao were eating with particular gusto, and Wang Sujuan kept piling tasty food onto Shan Bao’s plate.

Under Wang Sujuan’s careful feeding, Shan Bao, who had only been at Su Zhi’s house for a few days, was already turning into a little fatty chick.

Of course, being a little chubby wasn’t without its benefits. The Effect of Super Heavy Gold Fall was related to its own body weight... so in a way, this was also a form of getting stronger.

Yu Bao, on the other hand, had always been a big eater—a tradition for Earth dogs. As Su Zhi’s Main Pet, his energy consumption was the highest.

Wu Bao, however, wasn’t eating much. He seemed to have something on his mind.

”Wuu?”

Wu Bao poked Su Zhi.

’That resource called money... can you get it through battling?’

”Huh??” Su Zhi jumped. ”You want to rob a bank?”

”WOOF!”

The ever-vigilant Yu Bao immediately shot out a paw to pin down Wu Bao’s two hind legs, striking a ”caught in the act” pose.

Wu Bao pushed Yu Bao away with one of his middle legs, telling him to stop fooling around.

”Wuu wuu.”

He indicated that he was serious. Weren’t there any legitimate ways?

”That would be competing in tournaments. If you can win, there’s usually some prize money.”

Su Zhi nodded, recalling that he had discussed this very topic with Zhou Shengfa at noon.

”Even though you and I don’t have a contract yet, you can still participate in some unofficial competitions for Beast Taming enthusiasts. For example, Fengyun Arena is a relatively official one.”

”Wuu?”

Upon discovering it was really possible, a light instantly ignited in Wu Bao’s eyes.

’Then can we go right after dinner?!’

”Ah... I’m afraid we won’t have time recently; we’re both pretty busy. How about I take you to check it out after the training camp?”

Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but he was also a little curious. ”Are you in a hurry for money?”

”Wuu...” Wu Bao became bashful.

’It’s just... I want to have a little spending money of my own...’

”Don’t worry about it, you don’t need spending money! If there’s anything you want to buy, just say the word, and Dad will buy it for you!”

Su Mao patted Wu Bao’s horns, acting like a real tycoon.

Wang Sujuan said, ”You haven’t written your daily word count yet.”

Su Mao: ”...Ahem.”

Wu Bao didn’t ask for money and went back to burying his head in his food.

He had already deduced a possible future scenario with his beastly intellect: one day, Su Zhi would discover him writing his novel. Then, Su Mao and Wang Sujuan would share it on their social media: ”My son’s Pet Beast wrote a novel, everyone come and read it! [smiling_face.jpg]”

If that scene ever came to pass, Wu Bao felt he might as well go live on another planet.

Not to mention that what he was writing wasn’t exactly a proper novel. It was the kind that... well, had a few ’spicy scenes’... the kind with spicy scenes between humans, between Pet Beasts, and even between humans and Pet Beasts...

Of course, he couldn’t be blamed for this. Su Mao was to blame.

’So, they can absolutely, positively, never, ever find out!’

Seeing Wu Bao’s determined, contemplative look, Shan Bao curiously scratched its head with its foot and looked at Yu Bao.

”Chirp chirp?”

’Brother Yu Bao, what’s Brother Wu Bao doing?’

”Woof,” Yu Bao was busy chowing down. He expressed that there was no need to pay attention to that guy—a bug’s mouth can’t spit out dog food, after all.

Shan Bao nodded but still looked at Wu Bao, its eyes full of curiosity.

’Something’s not right. Brother Wu Bao must have a little secret he can’t let anyone know.’

’Hmm... I’m getting curious!’

「Two days later, downstairs from their apartment building—」

This time, the departing young man and woman weren’t carrying bulging bags—Shan Bao had stored all their luggage in its Flash Gold Flash Space, allowing the two to travel light.

Su Zhi: ”Bye, Mom and Dad! We’re off to the training camp!”

Wang Sujuan: ”Goodbye, Xiaoshu! On the road, take good care of... uh, Xiaoya, could you please take care of Xiaoshu for us?”

Su Zhi: ”...”

Shao Ya: ”Understood~!”

Su Zhi’s face fell, while Shao Ya stuck her tongue out triumphantly.

The two of them left together into the morning light, just like any other morning when they walked to school together.

Perhaps it was an illusion, or perhaps for some other reason, but their shadows drew closer, overlapping one another.

”Wuu...”

Wu Bao waved at them while lying listlessly in the garage.

Only he would be idle enough to watch shadows.

Besides training, Wu Bao’s main forms of entertainment were reading novels and writing.

However, while the stylus was fine for writing a little, it was a real struggle to handle a daily word count of several thousand. Wu Bao often wrote a few hundred words and then couldn’t be bothered to continue.

’I really want a super amazing keyboard.’

But he’d heard from Su Mao that the contract offer rate for web novel authors was extremely low, and the number who actually took off was negligible. This made Wu Bao feel a bit more at ease.

’Anyway, I’m just writing for fun. It’s not like I’m going to get a contract. I’ll just let fate decide.’

”BZZ BZZ”

The tablet suddenly vibrated twice.

”!” Wu Bao’s ”mighty body” trembled, and he leaped back with a WHOOSH, striking a defensive pose.

”Wuu?”

After confirming the tablet wasn’t going to bite him, Wu Bao made a tactical approach—

[You have a new message from the author services team.]

”!?” Wu Bao jumped in fright.

’Did one of my Chapters get blocked?’

’No way. My ’driving’ skills were learned from Su Mao himself, and he’s never gotten ’pulled over’. Besides, the stuff between Pet Beasts doesn’t count as a ’spicy scene’, right?’

’Wait, if it’s not about a blocked Chapter...’

A thought struck Wu Bao, and he quickly tapped it open—

[Hello, your work ”Point Addition Cultivation in the Beast Taming World!” has met the requirements for a contract. The contract signing portal will be opened for you shortly...]

Wu Bao froze for a moment, then, with dawning realization, became ecstatic. He spun around in place twice in front of the garage.

’YEEES! I got it!’

Then, he realized the gravity of the situation.
