Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Not far away, Yan Dingyi was also watching the scene with considerable surprise.

The thinnest of the vines were as thick as a bowl, and the thickest were wide enough for a person to wrap their arms around, nearly as large as an average tree.

Controlling plants of this size placed immense demands on both Skill Level and Elemental Perception and Control Ability.

As the saying goes, to wear the crown, one must bear its weight. Deep Forest Grip was exactly that kind of Skill—powerful, but extremely demanding of the Pet Beast itself.

Xiaoyue had evolved less than a week ago, all told, yet he had already mastered Deep Forest Grip to this degree!

What surprised him even more was the cleverness of Yu Bao’s response. He hadn’t chosen to meet force with force, but had instead ingeniously used the slope to neutralize the first wave of the attack.

And that Yellow Earth Wall... it seemed a bit strange, didn’t it?

’Why is it so sturdy? Is this thing really a Yellow Earth Wall? And not a Type 59 tank?’

”Meow.”

Xiaoyue’s eyes widened slightly. While he hadn’t expected to put Yu Bao on the defensive with a single move, he also hadn’t anticipated that Yu Bao would neutralize the attack in such a way.

A moment later, his light-green pupils regained their calm.

’No big deal. Since you chose not to resist, I’ll just press the advantage and see what tricks you can pull!’

SWISH! SWISH!

The vines that had flown past along the slope wheeled around, striking back downward. At the same time, other vines closed in from all directions, trapping Yu Bao within a tight encirclement.

Of course, no matter how dense the vegetation, there were bound to be gaps.

WHOOSH!

A Sandstorm erupted within the prison of vines, jets of countless sand particles spraying out from the gaps. One particular stream of sand was especially unusual.

’Found you.’

Xiaoyue quickly locked onto that cloud of sand, and the thick, heavy vines surged upward in response.

Yu Bao had clearly noticed Xiaoyue’s pursuit as well. The swirling sand performed all sorts of evasive maneuvers in mid-air—sudden stops and sharp turns one moment, a spiraling ascent the next. It showed off its entire repertoire of moves.

But Xiaoyue’s vines stayed right on his tail, giving Yu Bao no chance to escape.

He knew Yu Bao all too well. The moment Yu Bao lifted his butt, he knew what he was up to.

’Trying to shake me with a few evasive moves? That silly dog must be dreaming.’

He had even predicted Yu Bao’s next move. With no footholds in the air and his vines filling every direction, Yu Bao would have no choice but to fly upward using Sand Manipulation Technique once Desert Concealment wore off.

SWOOSH!

The sand and dust coalesced into Yu Bao’s body—just as predicted, he was using Sand Manipulation Technique to fly upward!

A slight smile touched the corners of Xiaoyue’s mouth. Countless pure-white dandelions instantly bloomed on the vines, scattering and drifting down to envelop Yu Bao.

Wood Element Middle Elite Skill, White Bulb Waltz!

The moment they touched a solid object, the beautiful dandelions would instantly turn into bombs. If just one exploded, the rest would follow in a chain reaction.

’Go on, try clearing these with that pathetic sand of yours!’

For the first time ever, Xiaoyue felt like victory was assured.

However, what happened next was rather unexpected:

Yu Bao did indeed unleash a Skill. Amidst a swarm of floating red Light Arrays, countless tiny, firefly-like fireballs shot out in all directions!

The fireballs touched the dandelions, but instead of triggering an explosion, they burned them away completely.

The grand fireworks show Xiaoyue had prepared was snuffed out by Yu Bao, leaving the once-beautiful scene scorched and bare.

That’s right. The greatest weakness of White Bulb Waltz was its fear of fire. Upon contact with flames, the dandelions would burn up on the spot, becoming duds.

Xiaoyue’s head was buzzing.

He knew Yu Bao had Giant Fire Pillar and was mentally prepared for some of the dandelions to be burned away by it. He never imagined Yu Bao would pull out Fireball Technique in response.

Although it was a crappy, low-level Skill, in terms of area of effect, a Tier Two Fireball Technique had a much wider range than Giant Fire Pillar...

Yu Bao was also a little surprised. He had only practiced Fireball Technique to lay the foundation for subsequent Skills; he never thought it would be the perfect counter to Xiaoyue’s trap.

’Time to press my advantage!’

SWISH! SWISH!

Wreathed in fire and sand, Yu Bao stood in the sky as Burning Sand Blade howled towards Xiaoyue.

SCREEECH!

A giant, tentacle-like vine blocked the Burning Sand Blade’s path and was instantly pierced, a gaping hole torn through it with a satisfying ripping sound.

With no room to retreat, Xiaoyue could only dodge. The Burning Sand Blade slammed against his Energy Barrier, causing it to flicker erratically.

Xiaoyue grimaced, annoyed.

’What in the world did this silly little dog eat growing up? Why is his damage output so insane?’

Yan Dingyi also wore a look of astonishment.

He knew the strength of a Shadow of Ancient Jing. When Energy Values were comparable, a Shadow of Ancient Jing possessed remarkable field control abilities, as well as excellent defense and endurance.

Moreover, Xiaoyue was an exceptionally talented Pet Beast who had always been at the top of his class back at the school.

But from the looks of it, he was faintly struggling to suppress Yu Bao!

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH—

Facing Yu Bao’s assault, countless green Light Arrays materialized around Xiaoyue. A ferocious torrent of flying leaves soared into the sky, as dense as a sudden downpour.

Flying Leaf Storm!

’If I can’t defend, I’ll use offense as my defense and break your tempo!’

WHOOSH!

Sand and flame swirled around Yu Bao as well, pressing down towards Xiaoyue.

Sandstorm·Flying Flame Form!

In mid-air, the three colors—red, yellow, and green—collided and intertwined, creating a uniquely stunning and beautiful sight.

”Woof!”

Through the falling curtain of sand and leaves, Yu Bao charged down, lunging straight for Xiaoyue.

’Big Bro, let’s have a proper—’

SMACK!

Before he could finish his thought, a thick vine whipped out and sent him flying like a spinning top.

Xiaoyue remained expressionless, watching that Yu Bao trace a parabola through the air before exploding with a BANG.
