Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

”Thank you, Principal!”

Zhou Shengfa nodded, a bit overwhelmed by the special treatment. ”However,” he added softly, ”it’s probably best to let Su Zhi participate in the training camp and selection tournament as usual. That’s his wish, too.”

Yan Shouzheng chuckled. ”Alright... What kind of person gets a rare chance to be selected without a trial, only to insist on slogging through the matches?”

”That’s not how Su Zhi sees it. He likes to learn from his experiences in actual combat and apply those lessons to his Pet Beasts. For that reason, he never misses a chance for a real fight. To him, every battle is an opportunity to improve.

”As for the other reason...”

Zhou Shengfa paused.

”Su Zhi’s Beast Taming Dao has been met with a great deal of prejudice. He always acts as if he doesn’t care, but I know he has always yearned to prove the validity of his Dao. That has never changed.”

”Prove the validity of his Dao...”

Yan Shouzheng murmured the words to himself for a long moment, then suddenly broke into a smile.

”Yes. I look forward to him reforging the glory of Beast Taming and becoming a true Beastmaster.”

Zhou Shengfa also smiled, filled with emotion. This time, the principal had used the word ”Beastmaster,” not ”Beast Tamer.”

’My student really is outstanding!’

”Wu Bao?”

”Ooo, ooo~”

Wu Bao was lying at the garage entrance, wearing a monocle. One of its forelegs propped up its chin while another held a stylus, constantly flipping pages on a tablet.

Seeing Su Zhi and the others return, Wu Bao lifted its head and waved at them with a middle leg.

”Cheep cheep~” Shan Bao flew over and landed on one of Wu Bao’s horns to say hello to her big brother Wu Bao.

Wu Bao squinted its eyes in enjoyment, casting a slightly smug glance at Yu Bao.

Yu Bao, however, just snorted in disdain.

’I’ve smelled Shan Bao’s alluring fragrance, while all you can do is get a little nuzzle.’

Su Zhi walked over to Wu Bao curiously and patted his carapace. ”What are you looking at, Wu Bao?”

”Ooo!”

A little excited, Wu Bao handed the tablet to Su Zhi. A few lines of text were displayed on the screen.

Su Zhi skimmed a few lines. Seeing the pretentiously artsy yet slightly provocative writing style, and the way the author seemed to launch into suggestive scenes every few paragraphs, his asshole clenched.

’Isn’t this my dad’s damn novel??’

Come to think of it, this was the transitional work his dad had written on an alternate account after hitting a writer’s block. But because his writing style was so unique, his old readers recognized him from the very first Chapter. Later on, the book did exceptionally well, and he merged the accounts after securing a top-tier author contract.

His dad’s new book was currently being serialized and had an average of tens of thousands of subscribers per Chapter, making it a pillar of its niche genre.

”You’re back, Xiaoshu?”

Su Mao, who was washing the car, poked his head out. Seeing Su Zhi standing frozen in front of the screen, he explained with a smug look on his face:

”I saw Wu Bao was pretty interested in novels, so I tried teaching him how to read on the tablet. I can’t believe he learned it right away! And he even has the same excellent taste as me! Heheh~”

”Ooo!”

Wu Bao gave Su Zhi a thumbs-up.

’Your old man’s got great taste!’

’With how often he takes a break every two or three days, you’re lucky you aren’t reading his currently serialized novel. Otherwise, you’d probably be tempted to use Lance Thrust on him...’ Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

It was strange, though, that Pet Beasts could understand written language. They were symbols created by humans, yet the beasts could comprehend them without any issue. Academia had studied this for a long time without figuring out why.

”So? Did you learn anything from your time with the upperclassman this morning?”

”We had a... deep exchange. Learned quite a lot.”

”Okay, I won’t disturb you guys then. Go on, get back to your studies.”

With that, Su Mao went back to washing his car, giving Wu Bao a thumbs-up.

”You keep it up, Wu Bao! Even though you haven’t formed a contract with Su Zhi yet, you’re our little treasure, too. When I have time, Daddy will introduce you to more web novels!”

”Ooo~!”

Wu Bao formed a finger heart for Su Mao.

Su Zhi and his companions went back inside, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Su Mao continued washing his car.

Once it was sure no one was around, Wu Bao’s eyes darted about. With a light tap of its stylus, it minimized the Qi Point app and opened another one—an azure-colored application with a white quill pen for an icon.

”Arf!” ”Cheep!”

Back in the bedroom, Yu Bao and Shan Bao both looked at Su Zhi simultaneously, their eyes shining.

Then, the air fell silent for a moment.

The two of them looked at each other and blinked.

”...Cheep!” Shan Bao took two tactical steps back, putting her wings behind her back.

’Big brother Yu Bao goes first!’

”Arf, arf!” Yu Bao also backed up a few steps, nudging Shan Bao forward with his nose, his tail wagging back and forth.

’It’s only right to let the little sister go first!’

’Why are they being so polite all of a sudden...’ Su Zhi laughed in spite of himself. Seeing that Yu Bao had nearly pushed Shan Bao right up to his feet, he decided to add Shan Bao’s points first.

Shan Bao was indeed the star of the day. The way she had speed-cleared that large Wanzi was a real eye-opener for her big brother Yu Bao.

It had even led Yu Bao to a profound realization: only magic can defeat magic.

This saying has now been recorded in the ”Sayings of the Wise One, Yu Bao.”

”Cheep~” As Shan Bao’s eyes narrowed and she let out a comfortable sound, the point allocation was complete—

[Pet Beast: Shan Bao (Flash Gold Sparrow)]

Power: 1.00

Agility: 1.05

Intelligence: 1.00 -> 1.01

Constitution: 1.58 -> 1.77

Perception: 1.02]

[Real-time Energy Value: 1660]

He continued to follow the advice of the Wise One, Yu Bao: 0.01 for Intelligence, and the rest into Constitution.

”Cheep!”

Shan Bao grew excited.

’The moment the points were added, she felt a warm current surging through her body... This is the feeling of power!!’

’Who says a Lin Daiyu can’t uproot a weeping willow?’
