You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

266: Section 266When other internet practitioners (Wang De Zhao) discovered this blue ocean, Junzi Group’s capabilities then added fuel to the fire for shared bicycles.

This way,

even if others discovered the potential of shared bicycles and wanted to enter the market, it would already be too late.

Wang Mo also smiled at Zhao Ming and said,

“The potential of shared bicycles is even more exaggerated than you imagine.”

“Don’t worry.”

After Wang Mo conversed with the two of them, Zhao Ming and Zhang Fan also calmed down and began to proceed with the next step as per Wang Mo’s instructions.

And just three days later,

Meituan’s acquisition of Dianping had already begun.

However, on this day,

the public’s attention, besides being on Dianping and Meituan, was also focused on another trending news item.

That was:

Penguin Group Buying began to acquire Baidu Takeout!

Chapter 191: Baidu Takeout Acquired, the Next Meituan Select?

Originally, after Baidu Takeout launched the Baidu Canteen feature,

many users speculated.

How many competitors would copy this seemingly crucial takeout feature in the future.

In their view, it was likely that Meituan, Penguin Waimai, and Ele.me would all copy this feature of Baidu Takeout, as this feature indeed seemed to play a decisive role.

And the first to copy it should have been Penguin Group Buying.

But what everyone didn’t expect was that,

Penguin Group Buying did not learn from Baidu Takeout and launch its own takeout canteen; instead, it directly acquired it!

It seems that,

Penguin Group internally values this online cafeteria feature quite highly.

Rather than copying it, it’s better to directly acquire Baidu Takeout.

After all, they are also currently focused on the takeout field.

Acquiring competitors to become their own assistance is something Penguin Group has done many times.

And other major players in the takeout field, such as Ele.me and Meituan Takeaway, could not possibly be acquired by them, so Baidu Takeout just happened to become their first choice.

Actually, quite a while ago,

Penguin Group internally had already been considering whether to acquire Baidu Takeout and began discussions with Baidu’s chairman, Li Hong.

Originally, they hadn’t decided yet.

But the launch of Baidu Canteen accelerated the entire acquisition process for them.

Regarding this feature,

Pony Ma indeed valued it highly.

And,

coincidentally, on the same day Meituan announced its acquisition of Dianping, it was also the time when Penguin Group acquired Baidu Takeout.

Two hot searches,

both climbed to the top of the weibo hot search.

“Meituan acquires Dianping for one billion dollars.”

“Penguin Group Buying acquires Baidu Takeout for two billion dollars.”

Because the acquisition information from the two companies was released almost back-to-back, it inevitably caused a considerable discussion.

Compared to Baidu Takeout, which was acquired by Penguin Group Buying, Dianping had much less recognition.

The key is that,

Dianping had no profit points, while Baidu Takeout was already a quite mature takeout platform.

Regarding the acquisitions of the two,

most internet users felt that Penguin Group Buying should be able to take a big step forward in the takeout field, perhaps even surpassing Ele.me.

As for Meituan’s acquisition of Dianping, the outside world didn’t have much expectation.

Most people only regarded Dianping as a piece of the puzzle for Meituan to complete its industry chain, and did not feel that this software had much importance.

And below these two hot searches,

countless internet users also left comments.

“What’s going on here? Are you two at it again?”

“Interesting, interesting. Both are preparing to unleash big moves, right? But Thousand Group Battle has been going on for several months, and besides some niche players that have been eliminated, the remaining players should indeed start acquiring and merging with each other.”

“This Penguin Group Buying should be formidable next. With the acquisition of Baidu Takeout, its volume will probably directly exceed Ele.me, and Meituan Takeaway will basically have no chance of catching up.”

“Up to now, Meituan has not made any major moves in the takeout feature. I think it has actually given up on this feature internally. This can also be seen from the acquisition of Dianping, which basically only provides improvement to the group buying field.”

“Interesting, interesting. Thousand Group Battle has reached this stage and finally started mutual acquisitions. I wonder who will stand to the end.”

Shortly after Penguin Group officially acquired Baidu Takeout,

the standalone Baidu Takeout application was directly taken offline.

However, all of Baidu Takeout’s user base had been completely transferred to Penguin Group Buying’s takeout section.

As for the Baidu Canteen feature, which Pony Ma valued highly,

it also appeared in Penguin Group Buying’s takeout section, and this feature was also renamed Penguin Big Cafeteria.

Furthermore,

Penguin Group’s investment in this online cafeteria was much greater than Baidu’s previous investment.

Originally, in Wang Mo’s previous life,

acquisitions between different software took a relatively long time, averaging four months to half a year.

However, in this world, due to various different systems, the time it takes for small enterprises to be acquired generally only takes about a month.

For Dianping and Baidu Takeout, it was also roughly this amount of time.

This is why Penguin Group Buying was able to complete the transfer of users and features from Baidu Takeout so quickly.

As for Dianping, which Meituan acquired, no action has been taken on it for the time being.

It is still allowed to operate normally.

When both groups learned that the other had also acquired a software, their attitudes were somewhat surprised.

When Wang Mo learned that,

Penguin Group Buying had acquired Baidu Takeout and began vigorously promoting the online cafeteria, he already understood that not only in the group buying field, but probably also in the takeout field, Penguin Group would suffer a complete defeat.

As for Penguin Group internally,

they also greatly underestimated the Dianping software.

They did not think that this software had any necessity for acquisition, only treating it as a strategic acquisition by Meituan to clear obstacles in the group buying field.

Their current energy was still focused on how to roll out Penguin Big Cafeteria across the country.

In Penguin Group’s eyes,

the importance of this online cafeteria feature in the takeout field was equivalent to the importance of Meituan Select in the group buying field.

It’s just a pity that,

the idea was good, but the vision had a big problem.

At the same time,

after learning that Penguin Group Buying had acquired Baidu Takeout, the most worried were other takeout software companies and Ele.me.

After all, after this acquisition,

Penguin Group Buying’s market share in the takeout field had officially surpassed Ele.me, becoming the leading software in the takeout field!

The day after the acquisition news broke.

Inside Ali Group.

In Jack Ma’s office.

“Jinyu, what do you think?”
