You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

263: Section 263“The potential of this community group buying feature is indeed somewhat exaggerated,” Xiao Ma continued.

“However,” he looked up at everyone, “although in the group buying sector, it’s almost certain that we can’t stop Meituan’s development.”

“But don’t forget,” “This Thousand Group Battle also has another takeaway battlefield.”

“As long as we put all our upcoming efforts into this direction,” “Then we still have a chance.”

Chapter 188: The Impact on the Takeaway Sector, Main Battlefield Shifts!

After Xiao Ma finished speaking, someone in the room couldn’t help but raise a question.

“But we still can’t cope with Meituan Select’s function.”

“With this feature, Meituan Takeaway might also be able to gain a firm foothold later.”

“So I think,” “We should currently lay out in the community group buying direction, forcefully entering this field, and perhaps there’s still a chance.”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Ma directly shook his head.

“Firstly,” “The difficulty of offline layout in the community group buying sector is even more exaggerated than you imagine.”

“Judging from Meituan Select’s current offline layout,” “If we want to build an offline system at the same level as Meituan Select, it will take at least three months.”

“During these three months, we will almost only be able to watch ‘617’ Meituan continue to develop, unable to make any intervention or action, and the takeaway sector will also have to be completely abandoned.”

Because of the previous trending topic, Meituan released a video of its Select offline system.

So Xiao Ma and others also clearly understood that Meituan Select’s offline operating system was much more complex than they had previously imagined.

To replicate it would take a considerable amount of time.

Subsequently, Xiao Ma looked at the person who had just asked the question.

“What do you think Meituan will develop into three months later, without our intervention and influence?”

“By then,” “Do you think even if we launch a community group buying feature, we can snatch shares in group buying, select, and takeaway from Meituan?”

Facing Xiao Ma’s inquiry, the person’s face alternated between green and red, then he finally shook his head.

“No,” “Then that’s it.”

Xiao Ma retracted his gaze.

“As for what you said about whether Meituan can develop in the takeaway sector with the help of the community group buying system, I can tell you that the possibility is not high.”

“The user base for community group buying features and the user base for long-term takeaway orders are completely different.”

“It can even be said that most users who frequently use takeaway features do not cook themselves, let alone use Meituan Select features.”

“Therefore,” Xiao Ma paused, “In the takeaway sector, we don’t have to worry about Meituan Select having any impact.”

After speaking, Xiao Ma looked at the others and finally took a deep, serious breath.

“After saying all this, you should understand my thoughts.”

“Withdraw all budgets in the group buying sector.”

“Since we are not Meituan’s opponent in the group buying sector, we must completely defeat Meituan in the takeaway sector!”

That afternoon, many internet users could clearly perceive that Penguin Group Buying’s advertisements seemed to have significantly decreased.

And starting from the next day, Penguin Group Buying’s promotion direction, just like Meituan’s before, suddenly made a sharp turn!

It was as if Meituan’s announcement of its latest results had stimulated Penguin Group Buying, so Penguin Group Buying’s subsequent promotion direction was surprisingly focused on the takeaway sector.

At the same time, in the following days, a large number of users discovered that Penguin Group’s promotion and offensive in the group buying sector were almost completely canceled.

Various coupons and activities in Penguin Group Buying gradually disappeared within a few days, and the previously booming initiative to impact the Lower-Tier Market also stalled at this point.

Previously, Penguin Group Buying would open at least several Lower-Tier Market city services every day, and the number of new merchants added daily directly reached over a hundred.

However, in these few days, all of this seemed to have stopped.

Penguin Group Buying no longer opened new cities or increased the number of group buying merchants.

At this moment, many internet users realized that Penguin Group Buying was not just shifting its promotion direction like Meituan, but was truly, almost completely abandoning all its actions in the group buying sector!

Penguin Group Buying was putting all its chips on the final takeaway sector!

This was the first software since the start of the Thousand Group Battle that truly and completely shifted its main target market.

Facing this situation, many small group buying software and websites were naturally quite happy.

Because this meant that they had one less huge competitor in the group buying sector...

But on the other side, in the takeaway sector, there were quite a few lamentations.

Previously, when Penguin Group Buying’s main energy was focused on the group buying sector, Penguin Waimai’s market share was already second only to Ele.me, sharing the second spot with Baidu Takeout.

Now, Penguin Group Buying was going to put all its energy into the takeaway sector.

Then their market share would be even smaller.

And besides these small takeaway software, Ele.me and Baidu Takeout, upon learning that Penguin Group Buying had shifted its offensive direction, also appeared quite nervous.

Ele.me was fine, because it was still the number one takeaway software in terms of market share, so it wasn’t too worried.

But Baidu Takeout was completely different.

Li Hong, the boss of Baidu Takeout, knew very well that if Penguin put all its energy into the takeaway sector, they would definitely be surpassed.

Therefore, to prevent this from happening, Baidu Takeout had already started internal emergency meetings to think about any countermeasures.
