You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

253: Section 253In this update,

Meituan launched a crucial and impactful feature in the Lower-Tier Market: community group buying.

After the launch of this feature,

Meituan’s group buying function will no longer be limited to leisure and entertainment, but will truly enter the daily lives of every ordinary user.

Buying vegetables, medicine, and even fruit can all be done through Meituan Select.

Furthermore,

Meituan Select’s community group buying feature also has another resounding name:

Tomorrow Arrives Supermarket!

This feature is almost identical to an offline supermarket; anything that can be bought at a supermarket, wet market, or fruit stall can be purchased through Meituan Select.

The only difference is that the delivery time needs to be delayed by one day.

Users who purchase items on Meituan Select can pick up their goods the next day, choosing to go to a self-pickup point or have them delivered to their door.

“Buy today, arrive tomorrow” is also one of Meituan Select’s slogans.

In Wang Mo’s previous life,

because various community group buying software emerged one after another, many software, in order to engage in price wars, launched various low-priced but also inferior goods.

However, in this world’s Meituan Select, Wang Mo naturally would not allow such a situation to occur.

All selected products must be guaranteed in quality and quantity.

Moreover,

because the community group buying function has very high requirements for offline operations, almost every community needs to have an offline self-pickup point nearby, otherwise community users would not use this function.

Therefore,

in the preceding period,

Meituan has also been working hard in this regard.

It has not only deployed countless community group buying delivery personnel specifically responsible for delivery but also prepared a large number of offline self-pickup points.

As long as a city has Meituan Select activated, there is almost certainly a self-pickup point in every few communities.

To ensure Meituan Select could establish a firm foothold,

Meituan even slowed down its expansion in the food delivery sector.

At the same time,

precisely because the community group buying function has very high requirements for offline operations, no other group buying software could deploy and expand it in a short period without prior preparation.

Even Penguin Group Buying would need at least one or two months to reach the scale of Meituan Select’s offline operations.

And if Penguin were to focus its efforts in this direction,

then it would inevitably slow down the progress of its normal group buying business, which is certainly not what Penguin Group wants to see.

Therefore, this feature,

in the short term, can almost only be owned by Meituan.

Other software that wants to copy it will be unable to do so because they haven’t made prior arrangements for offline operations.

And with Meituan’s official update,

that same evening,

the first batch of users officially experienced this Meituan Select feature.

Yan Country.

Inside a residential building in a third-tier city.

“Tomorrow Arrives Supermarket?”

“What is this?”

Looking at the updated content on his phone, Laosan couldn’t help but frown.

Because school was on holiday, Laosan had finally returned home after two months to spend his vacation.

Soon after arriving home,

he received Meituan’s update notification.

“Son, remember to get up early tomorrow morning and come with me to buy groceries.”

“I’ve learned several new dishes recently, and now that you’re back, I can cook them for you.”

Laosan’s mother’s voice rang out from the side.

And Laosan also nodded.

At the same time,

the Meituan update on his phone was officially completed.

The next second,

Laosan tapped into Meituan.

He had originally thought he would have to search carefully for this feature to know what Meituan had updated.

But what he hadn’t expected was that after the update, a huge Meituan Select interface appeared directly on the homepage, so he didn’t even need to look for it.

Looking at the brand-new feature on the homepage, Laosan was also a bit surprised.

A feature appearing on the homepage indicated that this update was quite critical.

It was just that Meituan hadn’t announced it beforehand.

Afterward,

Laosan directly tapped into the Select feature interface.

Laosan had originally thought that this so-called Select feature would just filter Meituan’s group buying merchants, bringing in some high-quality ones.

But as soon as he tapped in, he was stunned, because on this interface, he actually saw many vegetables, meats, and items only found in supermarkets!

Looking at the dazzling array of goods before him, Laosan couldn’t help but smack his lips.

“How did Meituan put the supermarket and wet market on the phone?”

After a few glances, through the product content, Laosan quickly understood what this Select feature was.

Furthermore,

he also saw information about self-pickup and home delivery at the very top of the homepage.

“So that’s what Tomorrow Arrives Supermarket means.”

“They can even deliver it personally tomorrow, and there’s a self-pickup point near the community entrance too.”

Looking at the prompt at the top, Laosan seemed to suddenly think of something.

He looked towards his mother beside him.

“Mom, what vegetables are you planning to buy tomorrow?”

“Tell me first, maybe we won’t have to get up so early to go buy them tomorrow.”

Because he didn’t want his mother to work so hard, Laosan also decided to try out this feature.

If it was easy to use,

his mother could also use this Meituan Select to buy groceries normally.

And his mother told Laosan what she wanted to buy.

Subsequently,

Laosan found the required vegetables and meats in this community group buying feature interface and successfully placed an order.

He also wanted to see if this feature was truly a Tomorrow Arrives Supermarket.

After all, for supermarket produce, freshness is crucial; if it took several days to deliver, these items would probably no longer be fresh by then.

And with Laosan successfully placing his order,

time

quickly arrived at the morning of the next day.

Just as Laosan had woken up and was about to wash up, the front door of his home was directly knocked upon.

Because he had just woken up and was a bit groggy, Laosan was momentarily confused as to who was knocking.

When the door opened,

“Hello, Meituan Select is here to serve you.”
