Fated to My Billionaire Husband

Chapter 2099: Chapter 2099: Are You Trying to Take My Life?

Only Ruan Tianling stayed at the hospital.

After everyone had left, Ruan Tianling finally asked the doctor why Jian Yufei had suddenly fallen ill.

Logically speaking, she was taking her medication every day, so it was impossible for her to suddenly fall ill.

The doctor hesitated before saying, ”It seems your wife hasn’t been taking her medication for the past few days. We detected vitamin content in her body, but no traces of other medication.”

”What did you say?!” Ruan Tianling’s eyes widened in disbelief.

...

Jian Yufei didn’t know how long she’d been asleep before she groggily woke up.

Seeing the white ceiling above her, her consciousness gradually returned.

She was in a hospital, wasn’t she...

Beside her, sat Ruan Tianling.

His dark eyes stared unblinkingly at her, his thin lips slightly pursed.

Jian Yufei met his gaze, feeling somewhat guilty.

He must have learned the reason for her illness by now, right?

Just as she was about to speak, Ruan Tianling asked in a low voice, ”Do you need some water?”

Jian Yufei pressed her dry lips together and nodded slightly.

Ruan Tianling poured her a cup of warm water, gently helping her sit up and carefully feeding her half a cup.

”Do you want more?”

Jian Yufei was very thirsty, so she nodded and drank another half cup.

Ruan Tianling laid her back down again and tucked her in: ”The doctor said you won’t be discharged until tomorrow. Don’t worry, your condition hasn’t deteriorated much. Luckily you only missed a few days of medication; had it been longer, things might have been more serious.”

”You know everything?” Jian Yufei asked softly.

Ruan Tianling was expressionless: ”I asked Li Mingxi, she said you had asked for several bottles of vitamins that day. You probably were too tired lately and got the medication confused, taking vitamins instead of your medicine. From now on, I’ll supervise your medication daily, so there won’t be any mistakes.”

”... I didn’t confuse my medication, I did it on purpose.” Jian Yufei confessed.

”...”

”I switched the medicine; the pills in the medicine bottles are all vitamins. I’m sorry, I deliberately stopped taking my medication.”

Dark clouds gathered in Ruan Tianling’s eyes as he clenched his fists, his whole body rigid as if struggling to control something.

Jian Yufei looked at him and said, ”Let those people go. I don’t need to cure my body in this way. If you insist on doing so, you’re killing the only instinct I have to survive.”

Ruan Tianling’s gaze was intense—

Jian Yufei gently grasped his fist, ”Ruan Tianling, please let them go, okay?”

”I don’t understand what you’re saying.” He replied coldly.

”You understand, I’m begging you, please let them go.”

Ruan Tianling’s expression grew darker.

He was hating himself, forcing her to plead with him like this.

But how could he bear to let them go? They were her only hope for survival. If he let those people go, what would happen to her?

Had she ever considered how painful it would be for him if she were to die?

”Ruan Tianling...”

”Yufei, by doing this, are you trying to take my life?”

Jian Yufei said sadly, ”I didn’t mean to... But I know, if you continue, it’s like taking my life.”

Ruan Tianling’s heart pricked sharply!

He stood up abruptly, leaving a single sentence behind as he strode away.

”I’ll get a nurse to take care of you!”

After Ruan Tianling left, he never came back in.

Jian Yufei lay awake with her eyes open until it got very dark before Ruan Tianling returned.

The light in the ward was dim, Ruan Tianling’s face hidden in shadow, so she couldn’t see his face clearly.

He slowly walked to her side, sat down, and said with pursed lips, ”Alright, I promise you, I’ll let them go.”
