Entertainment: Wanted to Acquire the Company on the First Day of Signing

78: I suspect he’s writing about me.Lu Qingyu and Chen Ting sang at the same time, but they sang different lyrics within the same melody. This approach greatly shocked everyone because they had never heard this style of singing before.

Everyone naturally assumed that if different lyrics were sung to the same melody, it would make the lyrics feel messy.

But in reality, it wasn’t. Not only did the audience not feel it was messy, but they also sensed the feelings of the two protagonists standing from different perspectives through the lyrics and melody.

Song Ke and the others offstage were also so shocked they were speechless. He could hear that this song was similar to a duet, written from the perspectives of both parties in a romantic relationship.

One side has been infatuated for ten years, unable to forget the other, and even thinks their own love is very touching; the other side believes the partner doesn’t understand them, that the past ten years weren’t entirely beautiful, and that they should let go.

Chen Ting and Lu Qingyu coordinated perfectly within the same audio track. Neither allowed themselves to overpower the other’s voice, and their handling of vocal weight perfectly solved the problem of allowing everyone to catch the key points. This harmonious performance was enough to make anyone jealous and envious.

While also sharing the theme of love, rashomon was realistic and down-to-earth. After listening to this, it felt like his own a dream in the mortal world instantly lost its comparability.

The chorus rang out, which was that duet-like style.

Chen Ting: That love was buried before it even took its last breath

Lu Qingyu: Afraid that the longing is too rampant. Chen Ting: Leaving a curse in both hearts that can’t be released,

Both: Everyone asks for the secret formula for ageless love,

Chen Ting: Only by leaving the seat heroically, Lu Qingyu: Could holding onto a remnant image...

Both: ...be remembered for generations? You haven’t forgotten, I haven’t forgotten,

Chen Ting: Better than being by your side. Lu Qingyu: Even the love letters have yellowed

The audience no longer knew what words to use to express their current feelings.

They heard Chen Ting in their left ear and Lu Qingyu in their right. Both sets of lyrics were so profound, and when connected to the previous lines, they each had a distinct sense of story.

When the two sang together, they actually didn’t know which character in the story to feel more heartache for.

Chen Ting:

”Not at peace, looking out in the morning and at night”

”Checking again after two seconds when there’s no signal”

”You said we should stay in touch often”

The moment these words came out, they pierced the hearts of countless people. Who hasn’t been like this when in love?

Bullet Comments:

”I suspect the lyrics are writing about me; I was in this state just yesterday.”

”What should I do? The person I like also told me to stay in touch often, but she has never taken the initiative once.”

”How can listening to a song feel like a sudden enlightenment?”

”Holy crap, Chen Ting is singing about me, right?”

”Lu Qingyu is singing about me. Ex-boyfriend, please listen to this: I’ve really let go, I don’t want to get back together, and I don’t want to be friends.”

On stage, Lu Qingyu and Chen Ting sang devotedly under their respective lights, yet never stepped into each other’s territory.

Chen Ting: The old number. Lu Qingyu: Those touching times,

Chen Ting: Is like the old place. Lu Qingyu: No need to look back often,

Chen Ting: Daren’t dismantle and reassemble. Lu Qingyu: Can extract warmth to endure the harsh winter later,

Chen Ting: Just close that room,

Chen Ting: Like a terminal illness. Lu Qingyu: The most touching times,

Chen Ting: Having a premonition every day. Lu Qingyu: May not last until the end of time,

Chen Ting: Happiness is about to descend again. Lu Qingyu: That most lingering dark shadow,

Lu Qingyu: Even if it wanders every night,

Lu Qingyu: Has actually been buried long ago,

Chen Ting: Lover, if you haven’t forgotten either, let’s make an appointment for ten years later, to meet in secret and continue the night voyage,

Lu Qingyu: Don’t be crazy,

Chen Ting: Next January,

Chen Ting: ”May we reunite as scheduled at” Lu Qingyu: ”Let the past settle at”

Both: A certain place in Iceland (Fukushima).

The last two sections of the song grew stronger in emotion with each line. Lu Qingyu and Chen Ting cooperated perfectly. It wasn’t until the final line was finished that Chen Ting slowly let out a breath.

He had been holding that breath since the very first sentence. Now he could finally release it. He had been constantly afraid of singing the wrong note, or even misreading the teleprompter and singing Lu Qingyu’s part. Fortunately, they were flawless.

The reaction of the audience listening to Lu Qingyu’s songs was quite different from their reaction to other singers.

When others finished singing, the audience would immediately cheer and shout for the singer, but the audience listening to Lu Qingyu needed some time to buffer.

Because it was too shocking. It was rare to find a song that was pleasant to hear, made people empathize, and even made them reflect, but basically every one of Lu Qingyu’s songs was like this.

Offstage, only when they realized Lu Qingyu and Chen Ting were taking their bows did the audience’s shouts come crashing in like a tidal wave.

After hearing the end of rashomon, everyone’s mind was filled with various thoughts. Life is just like a rashomon; everyone has their own interpretation.

And after the song ended, everyone suddenly realized that this was actually a love song written from the perspectives of two people.

The two characters, A and B, in the lyrics represented both parties in a relationship. Someone still missed the other six hundred weeks after a breakup, self-righteously thinking the other felt the same and self-righteously assuming what the other liked, when in fact the other person was completely different from what he imagined.

The person Chen Ting sang about hoped for a reunion, while the person Lu Qingyu sang about hoped to forget. The two had long since lost a common language, just like how the same melody always had different lyrics—what a realistic and cruel ending.

”This is insanely good. After hearing it once, I immediately feel like listening to it ten more times.”

”Not only have I fallen in love with the song, but I’ve also fallen in love with Cantonese.”

”How can Lu Qingyu be so amazing? Is he really only 18? Did he really drop out of high school?”

”Vote, I must vote for this. I’ll even make my mom vote too.”

Song Ke looked back; the audience’s reaction was truly much more enthusiastic than when they had performed.

Even though the votes hadn’t come out yet, he still felt a sense of defeat as if he were going to lose. He even felt a sense of powerlessness.

Two minutes later, the voting results came out. Chen Ting was a bit nervous, while Lu Qingyu, on the other hand, appeared to have much more Freedom.

Song Ke clenched his fists, his palms drenched in sweat.

A drumbeat similar to a heartbeat played on stage, and Song Ke felt his own heart racing along with it.

On the large screen, the progress bar finally stopped after a wild surge, and Song Ke gave up hope amidst the audience’s screams.

4.09 million votes!!!

His votes for this single performance were almost catching up to the total votes of the other three people in the first episode.

Chen Ting was stunned when he saw the votes, and the Director was also stunned. Lu Qingyu’s popularity was just too strong.

As Lu Qingyu walked offstage, Lou Qingran couldn’t help but give him a hug this time.

”Qingyu, you sang so well.”

Lu Qingyu: ”Thank you, Sister Lou. You do your best too.”
